Abstract

The process of alkaline hydrolysis uses, as agent of reaction with the explosive substances, potassium hydroxide in the presence of hydrogen peroxide as catalyst and makes it possible to convert explosives into fertilizers for immediate use in agriculture. This process destroys the explosive character just a few minutes after the reaction and can be applied to all explosives and to mixtures and residues thereof. It may be used with large amounts of explosives in an industrial, rapid, economic and safe manner, and it satisfies all requirements of rules and laws which apply to the sector.
