Abstract

System for measuring and recording the eye movements of small animals, consisting of a set of Hall-effect sensors which are fixed in the eyeball or another region whose movements are to be measured. The signals originating from the Hall-effect sensors are amplified by means of a compatible amplifier and an A/D converter board or, alternatively, in commercial magnetic or digital recorders for subsequent analysis using specific software. The output voltage of the sensors is at all times proportional to the position of the eye in the eye socket. This technique is especially applicable to neurobiology and studies on behaviour.
