Abstract

Panel de transparencia regulable por acción mecánica sobre una lámina de polímero. El dispositivo consiste en un polarizador (P) un polímero birrefringente (B) y un analizador (A). Una deformación del polímero (B) por medio de una acción externa (estiramiento o comprensión) genera en B una birrefringencia inducida convirtiéndole en desfasador. La transparencia del panel compuesto por los tres elementos P-B-A se regula al modificar el desfase producido en B por la acción externa. Existen dos configuraciones posibles. En la primera, las direcciones de polarización del polarizador y analizador son paralelas. En esta situación el panel es trasparente. La acción externa sobre la lámina B produce una opacidad progresiva. En la segunda configuración el polarizador (P) y el analizador (A) están cruzados. En esta situación el panel es opaco. Una acción externa sobre el medio B genera una mayor transparencia del panel. El dispositivo, sin despreciar otras aplicaciones, sirve para formar paneles de reparto de espacios interiores, cerramientos exteriores y ventanas.Transparency panel adjustable by mechanical action on a polymer sheet. A deformation of the polymer (B) by means of an external action (stretching or compression) generates in B an induced birefringence making it a phase shifter. The transparency of the panel composed of the three elements P-B-A is regulated by modifying the offset produced in B by external action. There are two possible configurations. In the first, the polarization directions of the polarizer and analyzer are parallel. In this situation the panel is transparent. The external action on the lamina B produces a progressive opacity. In the second configuration the polarizer (P) and the analyzer (A) are crossed. In this situation the panel is opaque. An external action on medium B generates greater transparency for the panel. The device, without neglecting other applications, serves to form partition panels for interior spaces, exterior closings and windows.
