Abstract

The cannula is characterized by its rear conical form where, finally, the diameter increases progressively in order to form a transverse element which halts penetration into the rabbit's genitalia. It is a short cannula (around 8 cm), with a diameter of 0.7 cm in the cylindrical part B and of 1.3 cm in the end of the conical part C, with a final transverse platform of 3 cm in diameter D. It is rounded at the front end A. The cannula is used coupled to an automatic-reload injection gun or to other semen propulsion systems, such as a gun with a plunger, a conventional injection syringe or a container pouch which closes the cannula in its rear part. The single-use cannula is changed after each insemination, guaranteeing the aseptic nature of the process.
