Abstract
Horno alto continuo. A partir de una cuba (1) similar a la de cualquier horno alto convencional, de paredes termoaisladas, con una boca de carga superior (4) y una piquera inferior (5) para salida del arrabio, el horno de la invención incorpora un amplio y mayoritario sector intermedio de su cuba (1) ocupado por una masa de cantos rodados (6) de granito volcánico, a la vez que en su pared, concretamente en este sector ocupado por los cantos rodados (6), se establecen una pluralidad de mecheros (11), preferentemente de fuel-oil, que calientan dichos cantos rodados hasta la temperatura de fusión del mineral de hierro (9), el cual se deposita sobre los cantos rodados con la colaboración de una campana de carga (10) acoplada a la embocadura (4) de la cuba, consiguiéndose de esta manera un proceso continuo de fusión, en ausencia del clásico carbón de coque, que tan solo produce escasos sedimentos en la cámara inferior (7) de la cuba, que pueden ser extraídos sin interrupción del proceso a travésde una abertura o salida lateral (12).Continuous blast furnace.
