Abstract

Process for the manufacture of cement agglomerates incorporating crushed recycled glass and agglomerates so obtained, essentially characterized by the introduction of crushed recycled glass into the mixture which will constitute the wearing surface of the agglomerates during the process, replacing part of the sands commonly used, using Portland cement as binder, supplementing the whole with a suitable base layer of mortar, preferably semi- dry. The initial surface, poured into a mould which is duly homogenized using light vibration is firmly joined to the base layer subsequently poured into the same mould by the pressure to which the agglomerate is subjected, of the order of 150-200 kgm/cm2. Siliceous sands, marble limestone and the like can be replaced by crushed glass from recovery, which provides the wearing layer with very high resistance to such wear, offering a variety of finishes through supplementary polishing treatment which are of great utility for application in floor tiles, paving stones, stairways, skirting boards, slabs of large surface area and agglomerate for horizontal markings.
