Abstract

An LCD display assembly has a transparent LCD panel 1 in front of a backlight 4. A diffuser panel 6 is located between the backlight 4 and the display panel 1, the diffuser panel having a transparent electrical resistance heating element 8 on its front surface 7. The heating element 8 is connected to a power supply 11, which also receives an input from a temperature sensor 15 located to sense the temperature of the display panel 1. The power supply 11 supplies power to the heating element 8, to warm the display panel 1, when the sensed temperature is below a preferred minimum operating temperature.
