Abstract
Oral pharmaceutical composition of fluoxetine, solid and with improved organoleptic characteristics. It contains between 0.1 and 1.0 per cent, preferably between 0.4 and 0.7 per cent, of fluoxetine hydrochloride, less than 2 per cent, preferably less than 0.5 per cent, of an artificial sweetener selected from saccharin sodium, aspartame, neohesperidin or combinations thereof, preferably saccharin sodium, less than 2 per cent, preferably less than 0.5 per cent, and more preferably less than 0.1 per cent, of a solid flavouring agent of the bitter flavour masking type, the remainder, made up to 100 per cent, being a water-soluble solid diluent with good fluidity and with good flavour or palatability. The preferred diluent is selected from sorbitol, mannitol and mixtures thereof. The composition is useful for making single-dose packs for the agreeable and safe administration of fluoxetine, even for diabetic patients.
