Abstract

Substd. azetidinyl pyridone derivs. of formula (I) A = N, CH, CX or COH X = Cl, Br, F or Br R1 = lower alkyl, cycloalkyl or lower halogenoalkyl, or aryl (opt. substd. by esp. 1 or more F) R2, R3 = H, lower alkyl, OH, NH2, aminoalkyl, alkylamino, dialkylamino, 3-6 membered N-contg. heterocyclyl, pref. aromatic, alkylaminoalkyl or alkyl carboxamido (where the alkyl is opt. substd. by one or more halo), arylsulphonyloxy, alkyl sulphonyloxy or carboxamido (opt. subtd. on the N atom) or CN R4, R5 = H or lower alkyl R6 = H, NO2 or opt. substd. amino R7 = OH or 1-4C alkyloxy or A+R1 = forms a gp. C-CH2CH2CHR8 or COCH2CHR8 R8 = H or lower alkyl, having a chiral centre with R or S configuration. 36 Cpds. (I) are specifically claimed, include 7-((2S,3R)- 3 aminno-2-methyl- 1-azetidinyl) -1-(2,4-difluorophenyl) -6-fluoro-1,4-dihydro -4-oxo-3- quinoline-carboxylic acid. USE - (I) are useful as intermediates and are used for the preparation of medicaments with antimicrobial activity. Daily dosage is 0.2-300 mg/kg.
