Abstract
The use of bacterial strains of the genus Pseudomonas PCH3 and GCH1 for the biorestoration of soils and the purification of water contaminated by herbicides of the acetamides group comprises a biotechnological method which can be used for the restoration of soils and water contaminated with acetamides and aromatic derivatives originating from agricultural and/or industrial activity. These bacterial strains have demonstrated their ability to degrade these organic compounds. Their use in in-situ biorestoration techniques, being inoculated into the contaminated soil, or ex-situ, immobilized on solid substrates, as biocatalysts in a reactor, constitute an alternative or a final stage for the physico-chemical methods currently in use.
