EL MANDRIL ESTA CONSTITUIDO POR VARIOS MODULOS A LOS CUALES DESPLAZA UN SISTEMA EMPUJADOR-TIRADOR ACCIONADO MEDIANTE CILINDROS NEUMATICOS, DESLIZANDOSE DICHOS CONJUNTOS GUIADOS POR SOPORTES-GUIA. INICIALMENTE LOS MODULOS EXTERNOS SE ALINEAN CON LOS MODULOS INTERNOS DE TAL FORMA QUE LAS CARAS LATERALES INTERIORES DE CADA PAR DE MODULOS CONTIGUOS ESTEN CONTENIDAS EN EL MISMO PLANO, PERMITIENDO EL BOBINADO DE LA ZONA DE LA ESTRUCTURA CON CONTRASALIDA. A CONTINUACION SE DESPLAZAN LOS MODULOS EXTERNOS HASTA QUE AL HACER CONTACTO CON LOS MODULOS INTERNOS CONFIGURAN LA ZONA SIN CONTRASALIDA, QUE PERMITE, SIN NINGUN DESPLAZAMIENTO ADICIONAL DE LOS MODULOS, COMPLETAR EL BOBINADO.
