Abstract
Kits for immunological diagnosis of bovine theileriosis by indirect immunofluorescence. The kit for immunological diagnosis of bovine theileriosis by indirect immunofluorescence (IIF) basically comprises (a) at least one immunofluorescence carrier which contains the antigen (Algar strain) in fixed form and (b) bovine control sera (positive and negative). The antigen has been obtained from a cell culture of bovine lymphoblasts infected with schizonts of T. annulata Algar strain, originating from field isolation of a clinical case of theileriosis localized in the south-west of the Iberian peninsula. A description is also given of the IIF technique (FAO, 1988), which we adapted for use of the kit for immunological diagnosis of Mediterranean theileriosis in Spain. This kit can be used in veterinary medicine and is suitable for the specific diagnosis of bovine Mediterranean theileriosis caused by T. annulata.
