A ZIRCON TUBE (18) HAS A CLOSED END (20) AND AN OPEN END (22). THE CLOSED END CONTAINS THE METAL / METAL OXIDE POWDER (24) AND IS RETAINED THERE BY PACKING OF MINERAL INSULATION (26). A FIRST ANNULAR METAL SLEEVE (28) IS FORMED OF METAL THAT EXHIBITS A THERMAL EXPANSION COEFFICIENT COMPATIBLE WITH THE ZIRCON TUBE AND HAS A DISTAL OPEN END (30) IN A SEALED CRIMP WITH THE OPEN END OF SUCH CIRCONE TUBE. THE FIRST RING METAL SLEEVE (28) ALSO HAS A NEAR OPEN END (32). A FIRST ELECTRICAL INSULATING CONDUCTOR (16) THAT HAS A DISTAL END IN ELECTRICAL CONNECTION WITH METAL / METAL OXIDE POWDER SPREAD THROUGH THE MINERAL INSULATION PACKAGING AND WITHIN THE FIRST RING SLEEVE (28). THE FIRST CONDUCTOR ALSO HAS A NEAR END ENDING NEAR THE NEAR END OF THE FIRST RING SLEEVE. ADVANTAGELY, A RING CERAMIC TUBE (48) IS LOCATED WITHIN SUCH FIRST RING METAL SLEEVE AND PROVIDES INSULATION FOR THE FIRST ELECTRICAL CONDUCTOR. A SIGNAL TRANSFER SET (14) IS ASSOCIATED IN SEALING WITH THE NEAR END OF THE FIRST RING SLEEVE. A SECOND ELECTRICAL CONDUCTOR (46) PASSES THROUGH THE SIGNAL TRANSFER ASSEMBLY (14) TO ITS ELECTRICAL CONNECTION WITH THE FIRST ELECTRICAL CONDUCTOR (16). THE PROBE HAS THE CAPABILITY TO SUPPORT POWERFUL HIGH TEMPERATURE RADIATION FIELDS, HIGH PRESSURE WATER, AND CONSTRUCTION FEATURES THAT PREVENT ANY LEAK FROM THE RADIOACTIVE ENVIRONMENT, WHICH CONTACTS THE SENSOR.
