Abstract
The system is based on the supply of the waste water directly to the middle zone of the filtering element consisting of a suitable mass 4 of flint (chert) granules, in which mass the waste water is distributed by means of a diffuser 7, based on radial arms, with the particular feature that the water describes, for its purification, an ascending path 23 via said flint mass 4 until it reaches the outlet 21 of clean water which is located at an upper, end level, whilst the actual filtering element, i.e. the mass of flint 4, undergoes a cyclic displacement in an opposite direction from that of the water, with an intermediate cleaning phase. Specifically, the soiled flint is deposited in the lower zone 3 of the container, from which it is aspirated via an axial tube 10 by means of pressurized air supplied to the lower end of the tube via an annular conduit 12, reaching the upper end of the container 1 where there is a washing chamber 15 from which the dirty water emerges to the outside via the outlet 17, whilst the washed flint returns under gravity to the aforesaid mass 4, forming clean upper layers which are constantly renewed.
