Abstract

Procedure for the production of a semipermeable membrane. A procedure is described for the production of a high performance composite semipermeable membrane, which does not require the use of an easily-flammable solvent nor of a chlorofluorocarbon solvent which damages the environment. In the procedure of this invention, a solution of a polyfunctional amine and a solution of a polyfunctional acid halide in a hydrocarbon-based solvent with a flash point not lower than 10 degree C are applied on a surface of a microporous substrate in order that an interphase polycondensation reaction may take place as a result of which an ultrafine membrane is formed based on a crosslinked polyamide superimposed on the microporous substrate. A gas is then insuflated over the surface of the ultrafine membrane with the objective of evaporating the hydrocarbon-based solvent, which gas has a velocity at the surface of 2-20 m/sec., a temperature of 1-80 degree C which is lower than the flash point of the hydrocarbon-based solvent, and an absolute humidity not less than 1 g of water per 1 kg of dry gas.
