Abstract

Electronic-mechanical lock that adds an electronic security and recognition system to traditional mechanical locks, presenting an external appearance and ease of installation and use similar to conventional locks.In the inner part (4), the classical mechanical pistons (5) have been replaced with a capsule (16) that contains an electronic control circuit (7) connected to a battery (12), a motor (13) which acts on an electronically locked piston (6) and a key insertion and removal detector (9), while the outer part (3) contains the mechanical pistons (5) and includes a detector (10) similar to the above and a communication coil (11) electrically connected to the above circuit (7).In the corresponding key (2), in addition to the conventional teeth, a small internal electronic circuit (8) has been provided with a unique code for each key (2) which is powered and transmits its information to the control circuit (7) by electromagnetic induction of the coil (11) so that if the code of the key (2) is accepted as valid by the control circuit (7), the lock is electronically released by withdrawal of the piston (6) enabling the lock to be opened in the case where the mechanical codes of the key (2) and the lock (1) coincide.There is also a master key which permits reprogramming of the acceptable electronic codes in order to able to cancel out of date keys and validate new ones.
