Abstract
PURPOSE: To test a diagnostic rule base by comparing an expert system output responding to a special test set with exception conditions through a test means and reporting coincidence when this coincidence exists. CONSTITUTION: A production quality rule base 14, a sensor data set 22 and a test plan 18 are inputted to a test system 20. Standard diagnosis is performed while using standard data not to provide the result to perform abnormal instruction for any diagnosis for each piece of respective combined data and continuously, diagnosis is performed while using non-standard data. Besides, the system 20 generates a test log file 24 and an exception list 26 defined by the test plan separately from this file 24 and since the log and exception are compared before and after a rule change, it can be discriminated whether regression occurs or not. Thus, the diagnostic rule base can be tested not only in the process of development but also after correction.
