Abstract
Method for the isolation and control of waste dumps and the utilisation/extraction of resulting biogas, and corresponding installation. The dump 1 is pierced with pits 3 for drainage pipes 4 with gas meters 6 at their openings and sensors 5 for measuring its physical parameters; depending on the composition of the bacterial flora, seeding with appropriate anaerobic bacteria may be performed; the perimeter of the dump is vertically isolated from the surrounding ground 2 by a ditch 7 with a cement/bentonite wall 8 in which is embedded a screen 9 of high density polyethylene (HDPE) or other suitable material which is impervious to leachates and/or gases; the horizontal isolation, which is achieved by means of a covering layer 12 of high density polyethylene, the edge of which 12a is fixed to the upper end 9a of the aforesaid HDPE screen 9 and sealed by welding. The biogas emerging from the drainage tube outlets 1 is if appropriate delivered to appropriate storage/consumption means after filtering/purification. <IMAGE>
