Abstract

A gel composition and nail varnish containing a hydrocarbonated cationic surfactant and a modified clay mineral. A gel composition or a nail varnish which comprises at least one cationic surfactant that has a propylene oxide chain and/or an ethylene oxide chain, a clay mineral modified with an organic compound, and a solvent. The addition of the specific cationic surfactant maintains good thyxotropy due to the clay mineral modified with the organic compound and restricts the change in viscosity with time, and with a slight change in the content of the clay mineral modified with the organic compound, to a very narrow range.
