Abstract

A method of drying a biological macromolecular substance by drying an aqueous solution or suspension thereof, optionally in the presence of a stabilising material, is characterised in that the aqueous solution or suspension is formulated in the presence of one or more efflorescent alkali metal, ammonium or alkaline earth metal salts and then dried.
