Abstract
Cigarette filter bar which comprises a fibrous filter element whose fibres extend longitudinally between a first end which joins to a tobacco bar and a second end, and which surrounds a longitudinal tube, one end of which is closed and located in the first end of the filter, and the open end of which extends as far as the second end thereof, the wall of the tube being provided with one or more radial openings adjacent to its closed end in order to promote the radial flow through the fibres of the filter near the openings, said openings being dimensioned in such a manner that they remain open and allow communications through the wall of the tube while the cigarette fitted with the filter bar is being smoked. The invention is of use for controlling and reducing the passage of tar to the smoker.
