Abstract

It consists in cultivating a target tissue of meristem from extirpated buds in a suitable growth medium, inoculating said tissue with a suitable vector capable of transforming it, said vector being an Agrobacterium tumefaciens which contains a hyperverulent binary strain, and cultivating the transformed plant tissue to induce the growth of roots. The invention is useful in reducing the risk of somaclonal variation when transforming target plants selected among petunias, soybeans, alfalfa, sunflower, cotton, wheat, corn and others.
