Abstract
Obturator for patients operated on for terminal colostomy. The obturator effects closure of the intestine in a voluntary manner, replacing its natural form of contraction, allowing the patient to undo said closure when it suits him, for the expulsion of the faeces and gases accumulated in the intestine. It consists of a cap which can be associated via its perimeter with the connection ring of the conventional autoadhesive dressings, and a plug element, normal to said cap, formed by a tubular elastic body, which can be inserted into the intestine, and which can if necessary be deformed, partially or completely, in order to obtain a radial widening for purposes of obturation, by the insufflation of air through a valve included in the end of the plug. The use of said valve allows the patient to extract the air from the plug and eliminate the radial widening or balloon, in order to facilitate the exit of faeces and wind in a controlled manner.
