Abstract

Fusion reduction method for chromium raw materials and a reduction furnace for fusion of the latter. This invention relates to a method for effecting the fusion reduction of Cr raw materials such as Cr minerals, granulated Cr mineral, etc., in order to produce molten metal having a high Cr content directly in a furnace provided with tuyeres at the base for blowing gas, tuyeres for blowing gas at the side and an upper blowing lance. An inert gas is blown from the lower tuyeres to form a rising part in the surface of the molten metal, and the inert gas is blown from the side tuyeres against the rising part, with the result that the molten metal spreads into a region of the slag into which the Cr raw material passes to accelerate reduction of the Cr raw materials by C in the molten metal.
