Abstract

By means of the access 12, milk containing microorganisms is conveyed to the centrifugal drum 1, next arriving on the plate attachment 4. The microorganisms which are separated out here are combined in the space of the concentrate 5. Via the deflection channels 6 and the nozzles 7, a microorganism-poor concentrate is constantly derived from the concentrate enclosure 5. It reaches the cleansing chamber 8 from which, with the aid of the cleansing member 9, it is conveyed back to the access 12 via the outlet for the concentrate 10 and the return conduit 11. The remaining concentrate which contains a large number of microorganisms is expelled by means of the periodic opening of holes 14. With the process, it is possible to reduce sufficiently the presentation of concentrate with a large number of microorganisms, thereby considerably reducing the losses occurring especially when preparing (working up) milk for drinking. Since a concentrate with a very low microorganism content is withdrawn via the deflection channels 6, no increase in microorganisms occurs at the outlet 23 of the centrifugal pump.
