Abstract
The heart valve prosthesis consists of a ring (1) with an aperture (2), for the blood to pass through, containing a valve disc (3) with distal (6) and proximal (7) sides. The discs interacts with stops (4,5) which limit its movement. Its distal side has a variable and asymmetrical shape which produces, in conjunction with the surfaces of the ring, zones of varying hydraulic resistance to the blood flow. The distal side of the disc can be made with convex (9) and concave (10) sections, or a number of radial grooves in a variety of shapes.
