Simple or compound honeycombs are obtd. using an elastic wall mould with perpendicular erectable finger-shaped patterns or elastic material which dilates under the action of heat and contracts on subsequent cooling. The mould is placed in a rigid flask with spacing between the patterns leaving a space to receive wax. The mould is of silicone elastomer and the fingers are of hexagonal cross-section. The flask is pref. formed as a rigid tray with detachable side walls and with the mould located over the tray so that the fingers extend into it.
