Abstract
A metal detector is proposed which magnetically sweeps over the volume of a passage track and is characterised by comprising in combination: - a plurality of separate electric transmitter windings (2, 3), - one or more electric receiver windings (8, 9), - two groups of phase-change devices ( DELTA PHI 1, DELTA PHI 2) for changing the phase shift between the supply currents, - a processing logic unit (12) for comparing the signals induced in the receiver windings with reference signals, - an electronics group (7) for controlling the change groups for the said phases as well as the processing logic unit (12), - a signal transmitter group (18) which is actuated by the logic unit (12). The metal detector is used to locate metals, in particular weapons, in passage tracks which are provided with a detector according to the invention.
