Abstract

A boot restraint member (38) for a rotatable torque transmitting mechanical joint of the plunging type, is of plastics material and comprises a portion (39) of generally cylindrical annular form arranged to fit on an end portion (29) of the boot on the outer joint member, and has a radially inwardly extending rib (42) which has an internal diameter normally less than an external diameter of the end portion of the boot, the boot restraint member being elastically deformable to be fitted over the end portion of the boot and to be retained thereon by interference between the internal diameter of the rib and the external diameter of the boot.
