Abstract

For producing calibrated, reliably functioning packings, which are universally usable in the entire valve-fitting-piston-pump area, of various use sizes, in particular for compressed gaseous or liquid oxygen with reduced expenditure, a dry PTFE-graphite yarn having a tensile strength of 0.9 to 1.0 g/den, to achieve a packing bulk density of about 1.1 to 1.2 g/cm<3>, is braided with a stress slightly beneath its tensile strength. The yarn is preferably composed of a double-ended PTFE-graphite yarn, which is preferably braided at an angle of about 55 to 60 DEG .
