Abstract
Piezoelectric ignition module for oxygen/fuel burners which is characterised in that it includes, on the one hand, a piezoelectric ignition mechanism 50 consisting of means 2, 3, 4, 8, 11 for acting on a piezoelectric ceramic block 14 clad with electrodes 13, 59 on two opposite faces and, on the other hand, a nozzle 25 consisting of a central part 16 and a peripheral skirt 1 surrounding the central part, a space 20 being provided between the central part 16 and the skirt 1 in order to permit the passage of an oxygen/fuel gas mixture, which space emerges on the lower part of the nozzle 25, whereas an injector-mixer 51 for oxygen 23 and for fuel gas 22 is connected to the said space 20, the electrodes 13, 59 of the ceramic block being electrically connected, respectively one 59 to the central part 8 and the other 13 to the skirt 1, the triggering of the means 2, 3, 4, 8, 11 for acting on the ceramic block 14 causing the appearance of electric charges of opposite polarities on each of the electrodes 13, 59, which charges are transmitted to the lower end of the nozzle 25, where the distance between the central part 16 and the skirt 1 of the nozzle is, at least locally, sufficiently great, on the one hand, for permitting the passage of the oxygen/fuel mixture and, on the other hand, at least locally, sufficiently small for enabling a spark to be created for igniting the oxygen/fuel mixture.
