Abstract
Un procedimiento de producir fibras de vidrio que comprende establecer una ráfaga gaseosa de temperatura suficiente para ablandar el vidrio y de velocidad suficiente para arrastrar el vidrio ablandado en fibras; suministrar una varilla de vidrio a un lado de la ráfaga en un punto próximo a la fuente de la misma y mantener la temperatura de la ráfaga por encima de la temperatura de ablandamiento del vidrio en una parte importante de la longitud de la ráfaga haciendo fluir un agente gaseoso sobre la superficie de la ráfaga para disminuir la pérdida de calor de la ráfaga a la atmósfera ambiente.
