LENTILLA IRIS SOLAR, CARACTERIZADA PORQUE REACCIONA A LA LUMINOSIDAD DEL MEDIO AMBIENTE FORMANDO UNA PUPILA EN LA LENTILLA DE MANERA QUE CUANDO LA LUMINOSIDAD CRECE SE ACTIVA PROGRESIVAMENTE EL MATERIAL FOTO CROMATICO EN LA PUPILA DE LA LENTILLA Y SE VA HACIENDO MAS OSCURO Y CONCENTRANDOSE EN UN TAMAÑO MENOR HACIA EL CENTRO DE LA LENTILLA. LA LENTILLA LLEVA UN GRADIENTE DE CONCENTRACION DEL MATERIAL FOTO CROMATICO EN LA LENTILLA A DIFERENTES DISTANCIAS RADIALES DE SU CENTRO DE FORMA QUE EL EFECTO PUPILA DE LA LENTILLA EN SU TAMAÑO ES PROPORCIONAL AL TAMAÑO REAL DE LA PUPILA DEL OJO CUANDO SE EXPONE A DIFERENTES INTENSIDADES DE LUZ DEL MEDIO AMBIENTE. LA PUPILA DE LA LENTILLA CORRESPONDE EN CADA MOMENTO CON EL TAMAÑO DE LA PUPILA DEL OJO MIENTRAS LA PARTE EXTERIOR DE LA CORONA DE LA LENTILLA PRACTICAMENTE PERMANECE INVARIABLE A LA LUZ. EN ESTADO NO ACTIVO CON MAXIMA OSCURIDAD AMBIENTAL, LA LENTILLA IRIS CONSERVA TODA SU CLARIDAD EN EL INTERIOR DE LA LENTILLA CON MAS DE 80% DE TRANSMISION.EN ESTADO ACTIVO, SE VUELVE PROGRESIVAMENTE MAS GRIS CON UN OSCURECIMIENTO PROGRESIVO DE GRAN INTENSIDAD EN EL CENTRO QUE CORRESPONDE A LA PUPILA HASTA LLEGAR A UN OSCURO COMPLETO. SEGUN DISMINUYE LA LUMINOSIDAD, LA LENTILLA SE ACLARA DESDE EL CENTRO HASTA TENER UNA TONALIDAD BEIGE HOMOGENEA CON EL MISMO GRADO DE FILTRO POR TODO EL INTERIOR DE LA LENTILLA. LA PUPILA DE LA LENTILLA IRIS SOLAR CONSIGUE UNA REDUCCION DE LA LUZ SIN ALTERAR LA VISION NI EL COLOR NATURAL DEL IRIS DE LA MISMA FORMA QUE EL IRIS DEL OJO QUE SE ADAPTA A LA LUMINOSIDAD DISMINUYENDO Y AUMENTANDO EL TAMAÑO DE LA PUPILA.
