DESCRIPTION
MAGNETIC LOCK WITH ANTI-NOISE MEANS
Technical field
This invention relates to a magnetic lock with anti-noise means.
Background art
There are prior art locks in which a magnet is housed in the strike- plate recessed in the door or window jamb at the seat for receiving the movable spring-latch that is located in the lock plate recessed in the movable door or window sash. Another magnet is carried by the spring-latch which is normally retained inside the lock plate either by magnetic induction with the walls of the plate or by spring means forcing the spring-latch to remain inside the strike-plate. When the wing is closed, near the alignment condition between the plate and the strike-plate, but before this is fully realized (and the spring-latch can freely insert itself into the seat in the strike-plate), the magnetic action already attracts the spring-latch out of the plate and sends it to strike and slide against parts of the jamb and/or the strike-plate other than the seat of the spring-latch, with consequent generation of unwanted noises. When the closing movement is completed and the spring-latch enters the relative seat, it does so by releasing itself from the contact with the other parts of the jamb and/or the strike-plate and violently entering the seat, striking both the side walls and the bottom wall of the latter.
Aim of the invention
The aim of the invention is to overcome the above-mentioned drawbacks, by providing a magnetic lock with anti-noise means. In particular, the aim of the invention is to provide a magnetic lock with anti-noise means that allows the noises to be reduced or eliminated which are produced when, due to the magnetic action 3 on the spring-latch, the spring-latch itself tends to come out of the lock plate when it is not yet exactly in correspondence with the relative seat in the strike-plate and strikes parts of the door frame in which the strike-plate is located or the strike-plate itself.
The aim of the invention is also to provide a magnetic lock with anti-noise means that allows the noises to be reduced or eliminated which are produced when the spring-latch is inserted into its seat in the strike-plate and comes into contact with parts of it.
A further aim of the invention is also to provide a magnetic lock with anti-noise means that allows the noises to be reduced or eliminated which are produced when the spring- latch, during the extraction phase from the lock plate, reaches the end of its stroke.
These aims and others, which are described in more detail below, are achieved, in accordance with the invention, by a magnetic lock with anti-noise means having structural and functional characteristics in accordance with the appended independent claims, further embodiments of the same being identified in the accompanying and corresponding dependent claims.
Brief description of the drawings
The invention is set forth in more detail below with the aid of the drawings, which represent a purely exemplary and non-limiting embodiment thereof.
Figure 1 is a sectional view, with a median vertical plane, of a magnetic lock according to the invention shown with the strike- plate and the lock plate facing each other, but with the spring-latch still in the retracted position.
Figure 2 is a view similar to that of Figure 1, with the spring-latch shown in the extracted position and inserted in the relative cavity of the strike-plate. 4
Figure 3 is a cross-sectional view of the magnetic lock of Figure 1 and a detail thereof (in which anti-noise means are highlighted), illustrated in the approach phase between the wing and the frame/jamb, when the magnetic action has not yet begun to extract the spring-latch.
Figure 4 is a view similar to that of Figure 3 in which the movement of the wing has not yet brought the lock plate and the spring-latch to exactly face each other, but the magnetic action has already begun to extract the spring-latch, which is therefore in contact with the strike-plate, but not yet in the cavity of the latter. In particular, the position of the anti-noise means and their action are shown in detail.
Figure 5 is a view similar to that of Figures 3 and 4 in the phase in which the spring-latch has entered the relative cavity and the interaction of the anti-noise means with the side walls of the cavity and with the bottom wall of the latter is shown.
Figure 6 is a perspective view of a detail of the lock plate in the exit area of the spring-latch, with some parts removed to better visualize others, where the presence and action of additional noise reduction elements is illustrated, in particular on the reaching of an end of extraction stroke by the spring lock.
Figures 7a and 7b illustrate details similar to those of Figure 6, showing the action of further additional noise reduction elements, in particular on the reaching of an end of extraction stroke by the spring-latch.
Detailed description
With reference to the drawings, the reference numeral 1 indicates a magnetic lock with anti-noise means. It comprises a lock plate 2 designed to be preferably inserted into a movable wing 3 of a door or window. It further comprises a strike-plate 4, 5 designed to be preferably inserted in a door or window frame 5, such that when the movable wing is in the closed position the lock plate 2 and the strike-plate 4 are located opposite each other. The lock plate 2 comprises a spring-latch 6 movable between a retracted position, in which it is retracted into a cavity 7 in the lock plate 2, and an extracted position, in which it is partially extracted from said cavity 7. The strike-plate 4 is provided with a hollow seat 8 which receives the extracted part of the spring-latch 6 when the hinge plate 2 and the strike-plate 4 are facing each other and the spring-latch 6 is in the extracted position.
The strike-plate 4 comprises a first magnet 9 located at the hollow seat 8. The spring-latch 6 comprises a second magnet 10 located in a front part 11 of the springlatch 6 itself. When the lock plate 2 is in front of the strike-plate 4, the magnetic action of the first 9 and second 10 magnets brings the spring- latch 6 into the extracted position and into the hollow seat 8 of the strike-plate 4.
The magnetic lock 1 comprises a cap-like cover 12 located on the front part 11 of the spring-latch 6 which extends for a predetermined length along the spring-latch 6 itself and which is made of a material which reduces or avoids the noise produced when the lock plate 2 is brought close to the strike-plate 4 when the wing 3 is closed and the magnetic interaction between the first 9 and the second 10 magnets extracts the spring-latch 6 from the lock plate 2 and brings it into contact with parts of the strike-plate 4 and/or parts of the frame 5 in which the strike-plate 4 is inserted. The cap-like cover 12 has lateral portions which extend along the outer surface of the spring-latch 6. The shape of the cap-like cover 12 and its extension along the springlatch 6 allows the noises to be dampened or cushioned which are produced both by the possible impact against parts of the frame 5 or of the strike-plate 4, and against the internal side walls or bottom walls of the hollow seat 8. 6
Advantageously, the cap-like cover 12 is made of plastic material. It can be made in general with a material which is sound-absorbing or is such as to dampen impacts and noises.
Preferably, the cap-like cover 12 is accommodated in a seat provided at a tip 60 of the spring-latch 6 by a restriction 61 of the tip 60 itself.
Advantageously, first noise reducing supplementary elements 13 are located on that part of the spring-latch 6 which remains in the lock plate 2 when the magnetic interaction extracts the spring-latch 6 itself from the lock plate and goes into contact with inner surfaces 20 of the lock plate 2 when the extraction is carried out.
Preferably, second noise reducing supplementary elements 14 are located on parts of the spring-latch 6 inside the lock plate 2 and act on abutment parts 62 of the lock plate 2 when the spring-latch 6 reaches the fully extracted position. Obviously the opposite configuration is also possible: noise reducing supplementary elements 14 located on parts of the lock plate 2 and abutment portions 62 located on the body of the spring-latch 6.
The invention achieves important advantages. In particular, it allows the noise to be significantly reduced or avoided which is produced by the early exit of the springlatch from the lock plate due to the fact that the magnetic interaction that determines its extraction usually begins to act effectively before the spring-latch is in exact correspondence with the hollow seat intended to accommodate it.
The invention thus conceived is susceptible to numerous modifications and variants, all falling within the scope of the inventive concept that characterises it. In addition, all the details can be replaced by other technically equivalent elements. In practice, all the materials used, as well as the dimensions, can be any, depending on the needs.
