Definitions

  • the present invention relates to the technical field concerning hinges for household appliances, furniture and other equipment provided with a closing door or leaf, and in particular it refers to a hinge device with easy assembly.
  • hinge devices assigned to rotatably fasten a door of an appliance, household appliance or furniture to a respective body, to allow a user of said appliance to rotate the door with respect to the body between a closed condition and a maximum opening condition of the equipment.
  • hinge devices provided with a first member and a second member, mutually and rotatably connected via a hinge pivot and fixable respectively to the body and to the door of the equipment; fixed resilient elements connected to the members facilitate the operation of the door.
  • a disadvantage of such known hinge devices consists in the fact that they are necessarily assembled during the production phase that is before their assembly on the equipment, i.e. before fixing the first member and the second member to the body and door of the equipment, making difficult and slow the assembly of the equipment.
  • hinge devices Another disadvantage of the known hinge devices consists in the fact that they are generally not suitable for appliances with programmed automatic opening (for example for the release of steam from the washing compartment of a dishwasher at the end of the cycle) in which the lock is actuated in opening by the appliance's controls.
  • An object of the present invention is to propose a hinge device that can be assembled during the production phase of the household appliance to speed up and facilitate the assembly of the door to the body of this household appliance.
  • a further object is to propose a device to facilitate the assembly of the pair of hinged devices on the equipment by a single employee.
  • Another object is to provide a device suitable for appliances that require a closing force even in the closed condition (for example domestic ovens for cooking) or which do not have to exert any force in the final closing section (for example dishwashers with automatic opening).
  • FIG. 1 illustrates a lateral and partial view of the hinge device with easy assembly, object of the present invention, associated with portions of the body and door of a household appliance and in a partially open condition;
  • figure 2 illustrates a sectional view according to plane II - II of figure 1;
  • figure 3 illustrates an axonometric and exploded view of the device of figure 1;
  • FIG. 10-14 illustrate schematic and partial side views of an assembly sequence of a variant of the device of figure 1.
  • the device 1 comprises a first member 5 and a second member 7, made with shaped sheets, assigned to be fixed by screwing, riveting, interlocking, gluing or the like respectively to the body or frame B and to a door, leaf or cover D of an appliance, household appliance or other equipment or furniture.
  • the first member 5 and the second member 7 are assigned to be mutually constrained by a hinge pivot 3 in correspondence with an assembled condition Z of the device 1.
  • the second member 7 is rotatable with respect to the first member 5 around a hinge axis, defined by the longitudinal axis of said hinge pivot 3, between a closed condition C of the device 1, in which the door D occludes an access to a compartment or internal volume of the body B of the equipment, furniture or household appliance, and a maximum opening condition A of the device 1, in which the door forms a maximum opening angle with said access, for example an angle of approximately 90°.
  • the hinge 1 is produced and supplied with the second member 7 separated from the rest of the hinge.
  • the assembly of the second member is expected to be carried out only after the first and second members have been fixed to the body or frame and to the door of the equipment. Nonetheless, the complete assembly of the hinge could take place at any stage of the appliance's production or earlier.
  • the hinge pivot 3 comprises at one end a cylindrical stem 15 terminating at the opposite end in a cylindrical, disc-shaped or truncated-cone head 17, coaxial with the stem 15.
  • the hinge pivot 3 is fastened to the first member 5 in correspondence with the stem 15, which is preferably fixed by riveting or screwing in a hinge hole 16 made through the thickness of the first member 5 itself.
  • the stem 15 is engaged by a resilient pusher 19, preferably concentric with the hinge axis and constituted, for example, by an elastomeric sleeve or ring, by a helical spring or, preferably, by two cup springs 19 placed side by side and facing each other. It is expected that the number of disc springs may differ from two.
  • the device 1 further comprises a disk-shaped abutting means 20 engaged with the stem 15 and coaxial therewith, placed between the head 17 and the pusher 19 which exerts, or can exert, on it 20 a resilient thrust directed towards the head 17 of the hinge pivot 3.
  • the disk-shaped abutting means 20 consists, for example, of a sort of washer, preferably metallic, with the external perimeter edge inclined or bent towards the first member 5 to create an insertion gap between itself 20 and the head 17.
  • a connection end 21 of the second member 7, that is its 7 portion assigned to connect with the hinge pivot 3, carries two side extensions 22, spaced apart and almost coplanar and which laterally delimit an opened slot 24 obtained through the thickness of the second member 7 itself.
  • the ends of the two side extensions 22 are preferably bevelled or inclined plane to facilitate their insertion between the head 17 and the disk-shaped abutting means 20 (overcoming the elastic force of the cup springs 19). In such way the stem 15 of the hinge pivot 3 is housed in the opened slot 24 until it reaches, or almost, the closed end, creating the assembled condition Z.
  • the second member 7 carries, at the closed, that is internal, end of the opened slot 24, a concave seat 25 having a shape complementary to that of the head 17.
  • the seat 25 is assigned, in the assembled condition Z, to house, in a freely rotatable way, the head 17 of the hinge pivot 3 keeping the stem 15 of the latter in the opened slot 24.
  • the elastic force of the cup springs prevents the head 17 from coming out of the seat 25 and elastically eliminates possible clearances between the disk-shaped abutting means 20 and the connection end 21 of the second member 7 and between the seat 25 of the latter 21 and the head 17.
  • Said seat 25 is preferably a non-passing recess which is obtained in the second member 7, for example by removal of material or preferably by plastic deformation of the latter 7.
  • the concavity from the seat 25 faces in the opposite direction to the first member 5. In this way, the rotation of the second member 7 with respect to the first member 5 occurs by means of the rotation of the seat 25 around the head 17 of the hinge pivot 3.
  • a variant of the seat 25 provides that it comprises raised shaped abutments fixed to the second member 7 and assigned to keep the second member 7 rotatably blocked to the head 17 of the hinge pivot 3.
  • the hinge device 1 comprises a transmission element 9, for example of elongated shape, straight or "J" shaped, made of metallic material having one end assigned, in the assembled condition Z, to hook onto the second member 7 and the opposite end connected, for example directly or preferably via a guide element 11, to a resilient element 13 assigned, in an assembled and operative condition, to transmit its own elastic closing force to the second member 7 via the transmission element 9.
  • a transmission element 9 for example of elongated shape, straight or "J" shaped, made of metallic material having one end assigned, in the assembled condition Z, to hook onto the second member 7 and the opposite end connected, for example directly or preferably via a guide element 11, to a resilient element 13 assigned, in an assembled and operative condition, to transmit its own elastic closing force to the second member 7 via the transmission element 9.
  • the device 1 also comprises an anchoring element 39 fixed to the first member 5 and assigned to house at least the portion of the resilient element 13 fixed with respect to the first member 5.
  • the end of the transmission element 9 carries a hook 27, assigned in the assembled condition Z, to be rotatably constrained to a hooking pin 29 fixed to the second member 7.
  • the hooking pin 29 is preferably provided with a stem and a head assigned to constrain the hook 27 along the axial direction of the hooking pin 29 itself.
  • the hook 27 is obtained at an end 35, shaped like a hook or grapnel, of the transmission element 9 opposite to the connection of the latter to the resilient element 13, and the hooking pin 29 is constrained to the second member 7, welded, screwed or fixed in a similar way, in a position external to the seat 25, and which is therefore not intersected, that is, it is separated from the hinge axis in the assembled condition Z.
  • the hooking pin 29 is fixed to the second member 7 along the median longitudinal line of the opened slot 24 and in a position spaced away from the latter 24. When passing between the closed C and maximum opening A conditions of the device 1, therefore, the hooking pin 29 spans an arc of circumference the whose center lies on the hinge axis.
  • a bearing element 30 is axially engaged with the stem of the hooking pin 29 to facilitate the engagement of the hook 27 with the hooking pin 29.
  • the minimum distance along a direction parallel to the hinge axis between the end 35 bearing the hook and the first member 5 is greater than the maximum protrusion with respect to the first member 5 of the head 17 of the hinge pivot 3, such that this hinge pin 3 does not interfere with the movements of the transmission element 9 perpendicular to the hinge axis.
  • the device 1 further comprises a guide element 11 assigned to guide the transmission element 9.
  • the guide element 11 is preferably of the rocker type that slides, freely or with friction, along walls 33 of the first member 5 parallel to the action line of the resilient element 13.
  • the walls 33 protrude almost perpendicularly from the main development surface of the first member 5 and determine an almost straight and alternate path of the guide element 11.
  • the rocker guide element 11 is transversely constrained between the walls 33, which preferably meets slidingly via friction pads 12 pivoted or otherwise fixed to opposite side portions of the guide element 11 itself.
  • the pads 12 are assigned both to facilitate the correct sliding coupling of the guide element 11 to the walls 33, and to prevent any rotations of said guide element 11 due to moments generated by the combination of the forces transmitted to it by the components connected to it and mainly to slow down the rotation of the hinge device.
  • the portion of the guide element 11 turned towards the resilient element 13 carries an attachment for a corresponding mobile end 14 of such resilient element 13 or of a respective spring guide of the resilient element 13; the central portion of the guide element 11 is pivoted by means of a transmission pin 31 to a guided end 34 of the transmission element 9 opposite the end 35 bearing the hook 27. In this way the guided end 34 of the transmission element 9 during the opening and closing of the device alternately follows a straight segment almost parallel to the walls 33.
  • the function of the guide element 11 for the transmission element 9 can be carried out by a sliding coupling between a guide slot and a guide pin respectively obtained in the transmission element and fixed to the first member 5 or vice versa or by other known means; in such case the resilient element 13 will be fixed directly to the transmission element 9.
  • the device 1 further comprises an adjustment element 41 constrained to the first member 5 and acting, directly or indirectly, on the transmission element 9, or on the guide element 11, or on the resilient element 13, creating an adjustable limit switch for the movement of the transmission element 9 in the closing direction.
  • an adjustment element 41 constrained to the first member 5 and acting, directly or indirectly, on the transmission element 9, or on the guide element 11, or on the resilient element 13, creating an adjustable limit switch for the movement of the transmission element 9 in the closing direction.
  • the adjustment element 41 is assigned to meet the guide element 11 so as to counteract the resilient element 13 and to block the transmission element 9 in a predetermined position so as to allow the hooking pin 29 to insert into the hook 27 during the phases preliminary to the assembled condition Z upon reaching which the adjustment element 41 is totally or partially disengaged to respectively allow the complete or partial excursion of the guide element 11.
  • the adjustment element constitutes an (adjustable) limit switch for the guide element 11 and, indirectly, for the resilient element 13.
  • the sliding coupling between the transmission element 9 and the guide element 11 or preferably between the hook 27 and the respective hooking pin 29, allows a rotation of the second member 7, after the transmission element 9 has reached its limit switch determined by the adjustment element 41, blocking the thrust of the resilient element 13, until reaching the closed condition C thanks to the shapes of the hook and the hooking pin which allow sufficient sliding of the latter pin without it being able to disengage from the hook.
  • Such adjustment element 41 is preferably a screw removably blocked parallel to the action line R through a threaded seat obtained in a shelf 43 of the first member 5.
  • Said shelf 43 extends transversely from the first member 5 between the two walls 33 and perpendicularly to the latter.
  • the end of the stem of the adjustment element 41 extends parallel to the walls 33, and the position of such end between the walls 33 is adjustable by screwing or unscrewing the adjustment element 41.
  • An adjustment portion 42 of the guide element 11 is assigned to abut the end of the stem of the adjustment element 41 at the maximum position A.
  • the adjustment element 41 therefore, blocks the sliding of the guide element 11 along the walls 33 and, indirectly, blocks the travel of the mobile end 14 of the resilient element 13 in the closing direction of the device 1.
  • a variant of the device 1 provides that, in the absence of the adjustment element 41, the travel of the guide element 11 in the closing direction, and consequently the travel of the mobile end 14 of the resilient element 13 and of the guided end 34 of the transmission element 9, is interrupted and determined by the position on the first member 5 of the shelf 43, abutting against the adjustment portion 42 in correspondence with the maximum position of the guide element 11.
  • the elongation of the resilient element 13 ends at the closure of the compartment of the equipment B by means of the door P, with the transmission element 9 which opposes the elongation of the resilient element 13 by keeping the mobile end 14 of the latter pulled towards the opening direction. In both cases, the resilient element 13 is always kept in compression between the closed C and maximum opening A conditions.
  • the transmission element 9 carries an abutment element 37 removably constrained to it in a position that does not coincide with the connection between the guided end 34 and the guide element 11.
  • the abutment element 37 is, for example, a pin or set screw removably fixed through the thickness of the transmission element 9 in a respective hole between the guided end 34 and the end 35.
  • the abutment element 37 protrudes towards the first member 5 perpendicularly to the rotation plane of the second member 7, and is constrained to slide along an assembly guide 38, for example consisting of a channel or slot, parallel to the action line R, or more generally at least approximately parallel to the direction of insertion of the hooking pin 29 into the hook 27, to prevent rotation and only allow linear translation of the transmission element 9 during assembly.
  • the assembly guide 38 affected by the abutment element 37 is obtained or fixed to the first member 5, and is preferably a slot carried by or obtained in the anchoring element 39.
  • the assembly guide 38 is an element independently fixed or obtained in the first member 5.
  • the abutment element 37 is assigned to be removed, freeing the transmission element 9 from the constraint with the assembly guide 38 to reach the assembled condition Z, as explained in detail later.
  • a variant of the device 1 provides that the pusher 19 comprises one or more elastic tabs fixed to the surface of the first member 5 near the hinge hole 16 and assigned to impart a resilient force to the side extensions 22 of the connection end 21 of the second member 7, possibly by interposition of the disk shaped abutting means 20, pressing said side extensions 22 against the head 17 of the hinge pivot 3.
  • Another variant of the device 1 provides that the hook 27 is shaped or fixed on the second member 7, and that the respective hooking pin 29 is fixed to the end 35 of the transmission element 9, allowing the connection between the transmission element 9 and the second member 7 in the assembled condition Z.
  • the adjustment element 41 acts directly on the mobile end 14 of the resilient element 13.
  • the spring guide 18 has its own adjustment portion assigned to abut the limit switch constituted by the end of the stem of the adjustment element 41 in correspondence with the closed condition C and the maximum position A, preventing the resilient element 13 from extending further.
  • the guide element 11 comprises a pin sliding in a respective shaped slot, obtained or fixed respectively to the transmission element 9 and to the first member 5, or vice versa, to guide the movement of the transmission element 9.
  • a further variant of the device 1 provides that the guide element 11 is of the spring guide type for the resilient element 13, defining through the shape of the spring guide itself the line or movement curve of the guided end 34 of the transmission element 9.
  • the operation of the device 1 provides that, initially and prior to the assembled condition Z, the first member 5 and the second member 7 are respectively and separately fixed to the body B and to the door D of the equipment.
  • the adjustment element 41 is screwed into the respective threaded seat of the shelf 43 in such a way as to make the maximum position of the guide element 11 very close to the minimum position, keeping the resilient element 13 more compressed compared to the normal compression of the latter in the closed condition C.
  • the side extensions 22 of the second member 7 fit between the head 17 of the hinge pivot 3 and the pusher 19, or between the head 17 and the disk-shaped abutting means 20 if this is present, with the stem 15 of the hinge pivot 3 which engages in the opened slot 24.
  • the thickness of the second member 7 compresses the pusher 19.
  • the door D, and therefore the second member 7, is rotated around the hinge pivot 3 until reaching a predetermined hooking angle with access to the body B compartment.
  • the hooking pin 29 is located near the concavity of the hook 27, where the hooking pin 29 and said concavity are aligned along a straight line parallel to the action line R.
  • the adjustment element 41 is then unscrewed, and the limit switch it constitutes gradually moves the maximum position of the guide element 11 away from the minimum position, that is, it lengthens the stroke of said guide element 11 and of the mobile end 14 of the resilient element 13. Due to the effect of the abutment element 37, the transmission element 9 pulled, by the effect of the resilient means, by the guide element 11 translates, and the hook 27 abuts the hooking pin 29, engaging with the latter.
  • the abutment element 37 is then slipped out of the respective hole and removed from the device 1, and is therefore freed from the constraint with the assembly guide 38, making it possible for the transmission element 9 to rotate with respect to the guide element 11 and the second member 7 to which it is pivoted, and freeing the second member 7 from the hooking angle making it possible to rotate the second member 7 between the closed C and maximum opening A conditions.
  • the abutment element 37 is fragile, being for example a plastic pin, and is assigned to break upon abutment with one end of the assembly guide 38 when the maximum position is reached by the guide element 11, freeing itself from the constraint with the assembly guide 38.
  • the operator can in fact move the door D by simultaneously fixing each of the two second members 7 to the respective first member 5, thus carrying out the assembly of the equipment or household appliance in a single step.
  • the variant of figures 10-14 comprises a blocking seat 44 and a blocking hook 46 alternative or additional to the abutment element 37 with the assembly guide 38 and/or to the adjustment element 41.
  • the blocking seat 44 and the blocking hook 46 are fixed to, or obtained from, the first member 5 and the transmission element 9 respectively, or vice versa.
  • the blocking seat 44 is formed in a single body in a wall of the first member 5 and the blocking hook 46 is formed in a single body in the transmission element 9.
  • the blocking hook 46 protrudes downwards from the lower edge of the transmission element 9 and the concavity of such blocking hook 46 faces in the opposite direction to the hinge pivot 3.
  • the blocking seat 44 and of the blocking hook 46 In a condition of mutual disengagement of the blocking seat 44 and of the blocking hook 46, they allow the operation of the device in the assembled condition Z. During the preliminary phases to the assembled condition Z or following the achievement of such condition, the blocking hook 46 releases or can be released from the blocking seat 44 allowing the operation of the assembled device 1.
  • the blocking seat 44, the blocking hook 46 and the respective release direction are oriented in a manner consistent with the movement of the transmission element 9 imparted to the latter by the rotation of the second member 7 towards the opening of the device 1.
  • the hook 27 of the transmission element 9 has a distal edge assigned to slide into contact with the hooking pin 29 of the second member 7 at least in the preliminary phases to the assembled condition Z for transmitting to the transmission element 9, following the opening rotation of the second member 7, a disengagement motion of the blocking hook 46 from the blocking seat 44 or vice versa.

A hinge device with easy assembly comprises a first member (5) and a second member (7) assigned to be fixed respectively to the body (B) and to a door (D) of an appliance of a household appliance or piece of furniture and assigned to be mutually constrained by means of a hinge pivot (3) in an assembled condition (Z) of the device (1), in which the second member (7) can rotate with respect to the first member (5) around a hinge axis defined by said hinge pivot (3) between a closed condition (C) of the device (1), in which the door (D) occludes an access to the body (B) of the household appliance, and a maximum opening condition (A) of the device (1), in which the door forms a maximum opening angle with said access. A resilient element (13) is connected between the first member (5) and a transmission element (9) which, in the assembled condition (Z), is assigned to be rotatably constrained to the second member (7), where the resilient element (13) acts on the transmission element (9) along its own action line (R) transmitting to the second member (7) a closing elastic force. The hinge pivot (3) comprises at one end a stem (15) constrained to the first member (5) and at the opposite end a head (17) coaxial with the stem (15) which is engaged, starting from the first member (5) towards the head (17), by a pusher (19). A connection end (21) of the second member (7) has an opened slot (24) assigned, in the assembled condition (Z), to house the stem (15) of the hinge pivot (3), and laterally delimited by two side extensions (22) of the second member (7) assigned, in the assembled condition (Z), to be placed between the head (17) and the pusher (19). The transmission element (9) and the second member (7) carry respectively a hook (27) and a hooking pin (29), or vice versa, for mutual constraint in the assembled condition (Z).

Description

HINGE DEVICE WITH EASY ASSEMBLY
DESCRIPTION
TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention relates to the technical field concerning hinges for household appliances, furniture and other equipment provided with a closing door or leaf, and in particular it refers to a hinge device with easy assembly.
PRIOR ART
There are known hinge devices assigned to rotatably fasten a door of an appliance, household appliance or furniture to a respective body, to allow a user of said appliance to rotate the door with respect to the body between a closed condition and a maximum opening condition of the equipment.
There are known hinge devices provided with a first member and a second member, mutually and rotatably connected via a hinge pivot and fixable respectively to the body and to the door of the equipment; fixed resilient elements connected to the members facilitate the operation of the door.
A disadvantage of such known hinge devices consists in the fact that they are necessarily assembled during the production phase that is before their assembly on the equipment, i.e. before fixing the first member and the second member to the body and door of the equipment, making difficult and slow the assembly of the equipment.
Another disadvantage of the known hinge devices consists in the fact that they are generally not suitable for appliances with programmed automatic opening (for example for the release of steam from the washing compartment of a dishwasher at the end of the cycle) in which the lock is actuated in opening by the appliance's controls.
DISCLOSURE OF THE INVENTION An object of the present invention is to propose a hinge device that can be assembled during the production phase of the household appliance to speed up and facilitate the assembly of the door to the body of this household appliance.
A further object is to propose a device to facilitate the assembly of the pair of hinged devices on the equipment by a single employee.
Another object is to provide a device suitable for appliances that require a closing force even in the closed condition (for example domestic ovens for cooking) or which do not have to exert any force in the final closing section (for example dishwashers with automatic opening).

BEST MODE TO CARRY OUT THE INVENTION
With reference to figures 1-9, numeral 1 indicates the hinge device with easy assembly, object of the present invention. In the preferred embodiment, the device 1 comprises a first member 5 and a second member 7, made with shaped sheets, assigned to be fixed by screwing, riveting, interlocking, gluing or the like respectively to the body or frame B and to a door, leaf or cover D of an appliance, household appliance or other equipment or furniture.
The first member 5 and the second member 7 are assigned to be mutually constrained by a hinge pivot 3 in correspondence with an assembled condition Z of the device 1. In the assembled condition Z, the second member 7 is rotatable with respect to the first member 5 around a hinge axis, defined by the longitudinal axis of said hinge pivot 3, between a closed condition C of the device 1, in which the door D occludes an access to a compartment or internal volume of the body B of the equipment, furniture or household appliance, and a maximum opening condition A of the device 1, in which the door forms a maximum opening angle with said access, for example an angle of approximately 90°.
For better understanding, it is anticipated that the hinge 1 is produced and supplied with the second member 7 separated from the rest of the hinge. The assembly of the second member is expected to be carried out only after the first and second members have been fixed to the body or frame and to the door of the equipment. Nonetheless, the complete assembly of the hinge could take place at any stage of the appliance's production or earlier.
The hinge pivot 3 comprises at one end a cylindrical stem 15 terminating at the opposite end in a cylindrical, disc-shaped or truncated-cone head 17, coaxial with the stem 15.
The hinge pivot 3 is fastened to the first member 5 in correspondence with the stem 15, which is preferably fixed by riveting or screwing in a hinge hole 16 made through the thickness of the first member 5 itself.
The stem 15 is engaged by a resilient pusher 19, preferably concentric with the hinge axis and constituted, for example, by an elastomeric sleeve or ring, by a helical spring or, preferably, by two cup springs 19 placed side by side and facing each other. It is expected that the number of disc springs may differ from two.
Preferably, the device 1 further comprises a disk-shaped abutting means 20 engaged with the stem 15 and coaxial therewith, placed between the head 17 and the pusher 19 which exerts, or can exert, on it 20 a resilient thrust directed towards the head 17 of the hinge pivot 3. The disk-shaped abutting means 20 consists, for example, of a sort of washer, preferably metallic, with the external perimeter edge inclined or bent towards the first member 5 to create an insertion gap between itself 20 and the head 17. A connection end 21 of the second member 7, that is its 7 portion assigned to connect with the hinge pivot 3, carries two side extensions 22, spaced apart and almost coplanar and which laterally delimit an opened slot 24 obtained through the thickness of the second member 7 itself.
The ends of the two side extensions 22 are preferably bevelled or inclined plane to facilitate their insertion between the head 17 and the disk-shaped abutting means 20 (overcoming the elastic force of the cup springs 19). In such way the stem 15 of the hinge pivot 3 is housed in the opened slot 24 until it reaches, or almost, the closed end, creating the assembled condition Z.
Preferably, the second member 7 carries, at the closed, that is internal, end of the opened slot 24, a concave seat 25 having a shape complementary to that of the head 17. The seat 25 is assigned, in the assembled condition Z, to house, in a freely rotatable way, the head 17 of the hinge pivot 3 keeping the stem 15 of the latter in the opened slot 24. The elastic force of the cup springs prevents the head 17 from coming out of the seat 25 and elastically eliminates possible clearances between the disk-shaped abutting means 20 and the connection end 21 of the second member 7 and between the seat 25 of the latter 21 and the head 17.
Said seat 25 is preferably a non-passing recess which is obtained in the second member 7, for example by removal of material or preferably by plastic deformation of the latter 7. In the assembled condition Z, the concavity from the seat 25 faces in the opposite direction to the first member 5. In this way, the rotation of the second member 7 with respect to the first member 5 occurs by means of the rotation of the seat 25 around the head 17 of the hinge pivot 3.
A variant of the seat 25 provides that it comprises raised shaped abutments fixed to the second member 7 and assigned to keep the second member 7 rotatably blocked to the head 17 of the hinge pivot 3.
The hinge device 1 comprises a transmission element 9, for example of elongated shape, straight or "J" shaped, made of metallic material having one end assigned, in the assembled condition Z, to hook onto the second member 7 and the opposite end connected, for example directly or preferably via a guide element 11, to a resilient element 13 assigned, in an assembled and operative condition, to transmit its own elastic closing force to the second member 7 via the transmission element 9.
The resilient element 13, such as a helical spring, with or without spring guide, or a gas spring preferably acting in compression, is interconnected between the first member 5 and the transmission element 9 of the device 1.
Preferably, the device 1 also comprises an anchoring element 39 fixed to the first member 5 and assigned to house at least the portion of the resilient element 13 fixed with respect to the first member 5.
The end of the transmission element 9 carries a hook 27, assigned in the assembled condition Z, to be rotatably constrained to a hooking pin 29 fixed to the second member 7. The hooking pin 29 is preferably provided with a stem and a head assigned to constrain the hook 27 along the axial direction of the hooking pin 29 itself.
Preferably, the hook 27 is obtained at an end 35, shaped like a hook or grapnel, of the transmission element 9 opposite to the connection of the latter to the resilient element 13, and the hooking pin 29 is constrained to the second member 7, welded, screwed or fixed in a similar way, in a position external to the seat 25, and which is therefore not intersected, that is, it is separated from the hinge axis in the assembled condition Z. For example, the hooking pin 29 is fixed to the second member 7 along the median longitudinal line of the opened slot 24 and in a position spaced away from the latter 24. When passing between the closed C and maximum opening A conditions of the device 1, therefore, the hooking pin 29 spans an arc of circumference the whose center lies on the hinge axis.
Optionally, a bearing element 30 is axially engaged with the stem of the hooking pin 29 to facilitate the engagement of the hook 27 with the hooking pin 29.
The minimum distance along a direction parallel to the hinge axis between the end 35 bearing the hook and the first member 5 is greater than the maximum protrusion with respect to the first member 5 of the head 17 of the hinge pivot 3, such that this hinge pin 3 does not interfere with the movements of the transmission element 9 perpendicular to the hinge axis.
Preferably the device 1 further comprises a guide element 11 assigned to guide the transmission element 9.
The guide element 11 is preferably of the rocker type that slides, freely or with friction, along walls 33 of the first member 5 parallel to the action line of the resilient element 13. The walls 33 protrude almost perpendicularly from the main development surface of the first member 5 and determine an almost straight and alternate path of the guide element 11.
The rocker guide element 11 is transversely constrained between the walls 33, which preferably meets slidingly via friction pads 12 pivoted or otherwise fixed to opposite side portions of the guide element 11 itself. The pads 12 are assigned both to facilitate the correct sliding coupling of the guide element 11 to the walls 33, and to prevent any rotations of said guide element 11 due to moments generated by the combination of the forces transmitted to it by the components connected to it and mainly to slow down the rotation of the hinge device. The portion of the guide element 11 turned towards the resilient element 13 carries an attachment for a corresponding mobile end 14 of such resilient element 13 or of a respective spring guide of the resilient element 13; the central portion of the guide element 11 is pivoted by means of a transmission pin 31 to a guided end 34 of the transmission element 9 opposite the end 35 bearing the hook 27. In this way the guided end 34 of the transmission element 9 during the opening and closing of the device alternately follows a straight segment almost parallel to the walls 33.
Alternatively, the function of the guide element 11 for the transmission element 9 can be carried out by a sliding coupling between a guide slot and a guide pin respectively obtained in the transmission element and fixed to the first member 5 or vice versa or by other known means; in such case the resilient element 13 will be fixed directly to the transmission element 9.
Preferably, the device 1 further comprises an adjustment element 41 constrained to the first member 5 and acting, directly or indirectly, on the transmission element 9, or on the guide element 11, or on the resilient element 13, creating an adjustable limit switch for the movement of the transmission element 9 in the closing direction.
The adjustment element 41 is assigned to meet the guide element 11 so as to counteract the resilient element 13 and to block the transmission element 9 in a predetermined position so as to allow the hooking pin 29 to insert into the hook 27 during the phases preliminary to the assembled condition Z upon reaching which the adjustment element 41 is totally or partially disengaged to respectively allow the complete or partial excursion of the guide element 11. In the first case, normal operation of the hinges is obtained in which the resilient element exerts a closing force also along the entire terminal closing section and keeps the door elastically pressed against the edge of the opening. In the second case, the adjustment element constitutes an (adjustable) limit switch for the guide element 11 and, indirectly, for the resilient element 13.
In this second case, the sliding coupling between the transmission element 9 and the guide element 11 or preferably between the hook 27 and the respective hooking pin 29, allows a rotation of the second member 7, after the transmission element 9 has reached its limit switch determined by the adjustment element 41, blocking the thrust of the resilient element 13, until reaching the closed condition C thanks to the shapes of the hook and the hooking pin which allow sufficient sliding of the latter pin without it being able to disengage from the hook.
Such adjustment element 41 is preferably a screw removably blocked parallel to the action line R through a threaded seat obtained in a shelf 43 of the first member 5.
Said shelf 43 extends transversely from the first member 5 between the two walls 33 and perpendicularly to the latter. The end of the stem of the adjustment element 41 extends parallel to the walls 33, and the position of such end between the walls 33 is adjustable by screwing or unscrewing the adjustment element 41.
An adjustment portion 42 of the guide element 11 is assigned to abut the end of the stem of the adjustment element 41 at the maximum position A. The adjustment element 41, therefore, blocks the sliding of the guide element 11 along the walls 33 and, indirectly, blocks the travel of the mobile end 14 of the resilient element 13 in the closing direction of the device 1.
A variant of the device 1 provides that, in the absence of the adjustment element 41, the travel of the guide element 11 in the closing direction, and consequently the travel of the mobile end 14 of the resilient element 13 and of the guided end 34 of the transmission element 9, is interrupted and determined by the position on the first member 5 of the shelf 43, abutting against the adjustment portion 42 in correspondence with the maximum position of the guide element 11. Alternatively, the elongation of the resilient element 13 ends at the closure of the compartment of the equipment B by means of the door P, with the transmission element 9 which opposes the elongation of the resilient element 13 by keeping the mobile end 14 of the latter pulled towards the opening direction. In both cases, the resilient element 13 is always kept in compression between the closed C and maximum opening A conditions. Preferably, at least before reaching the assembled condition Z, the transmission element 9 carries an abutment element 37 removably constrained to it in a position that does not coincide with the connection between the guided end 34 and the guide element 11. The abutment element 37 is, for example, a pin or set screw removably fixed through the thickness of the transmission element 9 in a respective hole between the guided end 34 and the end 35.
The abutment element 37 protrudes towards the first member 5 perpendicularly to the rotation plane of the second member 7, and is constrained to slide along an assembly guide 38, for example consisting of a channel or slot, parallel to the action line R, or more generally at least approximately parallel to the direction of insertion of the hooking pin 29 into the hook 27, to prevent rotation and only allow linear translation of the transmission element 9 during assembly. The transmission element 9, in fact, as long as it is connected in two points that do not coincide with the guide element 11 and the abutment element 37, which constrain it to slide longitudinally between the walls 33 and along the assembly guide 38 respectively, is forced to move only in a predetermined direction determined by said constraints.
The assembly guide 38 affected by the abutment element 37 is obtained or fixed to the first member 5, and is preferably a slot carried by or obtained in the anchoring element 39. Alternatively, the assembly guide 38 is an element independently fixed or obtained in the first member 5.
The abutment element 37 is assigned to be removed, freeing the transmission element 9 from the constraint with the assembly guide 38 to reach the assembled condition Z, as explained in detail later.
A variant of the device 1 provides that the pusher 19 comprises one or more elastic tabs fixed to the surface of the first member 5 near the hinge hole 16 and assigned to impart a resilient force to the side extensions 22 of the connection end 21 of the second member 7, possibly by interposition of the disk shaped abutting means 20, pressing said side extensions 22 against the head 17 of the hinge pivot 3. Another variant of the device 1 provides that the hook 27 is shaped or fixed on the second member 7, and that the respective hooking pin 29 is fixed to the end 35 of the transmission element 9, allowing the connection between the transmission element 9 and the second member 7 in the assembled condition Z.
In a further variant of the device 1, the adjustment element 41 acts directly on the mobile end 14 of the resilient element 13. For example, the spring guide 18 has its own adjustment portion assigned to abut the limit switch constituted by the end of the stem of the adjustment element 41 in correspondence with the closed condition C and the maximum position A, preventing the resilient element 13 from extending further.
Another variant of the device 1 provides that the guide element 11 comprises a pin sliding in a respective shaped slot, obtained or fixed respectively to the transmission element 9 and to the first member 5, or vice versa, to guide the movement of the transmission element 9.
A further variant of the device 1 provides that the guide element 11 is of the spring guide type for the resilient element 13, defining through the shape of the spring guide itself the line or movement curve of the guided end 34 of the transmission element 9.
Making particular reference to figures 4-9, the operation of the device 1 provides that, initially and prior to the assembled condition Z, the first member 5 and the second member 7 are respectively and separately fixed to the body B and to the door D of the equipment. The adjustment element 41 is screwed into the respective threaded seat of the shelf 43 in such a way as to make the maximum position of the guide element 11 very close to the minimum position, keeping the resilient element 13 more compressed compared to the normal compression of the latter in the closed condition C.
By appropriately bringing the door D closer to the body B, the side extensions 22 of the second member 7 fit between the head 17 of the hinge pivot 3 and the pusher 19, or between the head 17 and the disk-shaped abutting means 20 if this is present, with the stem 15 of the hinge pivot 3 which engages in the opened slot 24. The thickness of the second member 7 compresses the pusher 19.
When the head 17 of the hinge pivot 3 reaches the respective seat 25, the thickness of the second member 7 in correspondence with said seat 25, lower than the thickness of the side extensions 22, causes the pusher 19 to axially press the second member 7 away from the first member 5 and that the head 17 is coupled and snap-locked into the seat 25.
The door D, and therefore the second member 7, is rotated around the hinge pivot 3 until reaching a predetermined hooking angle with access to the body B compartment. In correspondence with such hooking angle, the hooking pin 29 is located near the concavity of the hook 27, where the hooking pin 29 and said concavity are aligned along a straight line parallel to the action line R.
The adjustment element 41 is then unscrewed, and the limit switch it constitutes gradually moves the maximum position of the guide element 11 away from the minimum position, that is, it lengthens the stroke of said guide element 11 and of the mobile end 14 of the resilient element 13. Due to the effect of the abutment element 37, the transmission element 9 pulled, by the effect of the resilient means, by the guide element 11 translates, and the hook 27 abuts the hooking pin 29, engaging with the latter.
The abutment element 37 is then slipped out of the respective hole and removed from the device 1, and is therefore freed from the constraint with the assembly guide 38, making it possible for the transmission element 9 to rotate with respect to the guide element 11 and the second member 7 to which it is pivoted, and freeing the second member 7 from the hooking angle making it possible to rotate the second member 7 between the closed C and maximum opening A conditions.
The assembled condition Z of the device 1 is thus achieved. In a variant of the device 1, the abutment element 37 is fragile, being for example a plastic pin, and is assigned to break upon abutment with one end of the assembly guide 38 when the maximum position is reached by the guide element 11, freeing itself from the constraint with the assembly guide 38.
If there is a need to install two devices 1 on the door D for its connection to the body B, as is often the case, the fact that the device 1 is easy to assemble, that is that the first member 5 and second member 7 can be fixed separately to body B and door D, advantageously allows a single operator to carry out this fixing independently and with extreme ease. The operator can in fact move the door D by simultaneously fixing each of the two second members 7 to the respective first member 5, thus carrying out the assembly of the equipment or household appliance in a single step.
The variant of figures 10-14 comprises a blocking seat 44 and a blocking hook 46 alternative or additional to the abutment element 37 with the assembly guide 38 and/or to the adjustment element 41.
The blocking seat 44 and the blocking hook 46 are fixed to, or obtained from, the first member 5 and the transmission element 9 respectively, or vice versa.
Preferably, the blocking seat 44 is formed in a single body in a wall of the first member 5 and the blocking hook 46 is formed in a single body in the transmission element 9. Referring to figure 14 and the corresponding operative phase, the blocking hook 46 protrudes downwards from the lower edge of the transmission element 9 and the concavity of such blocking hook 46 faces in the opposite direction to the hinge pivot 3.
In a condition of mutual engagement of the blocking seat 44 and the blocking hook 46, they reversibly block the transmission element 9 with respect to the first member 5 in a position in which the hook 27 is predisposed to receive the hooking pin 29.
In a condition of mutual disengagement of the blocking seat 44 and of the blocking hook 46, they allow the operation of the device in the assembled condition Z. During the preliminary phases to the assembled condition Z or following the achievement of such condition, the blocking hook 46 releases or can be released from the blocking seat 44 allowing the operation of the assembled device 1.
The blocking seat 44, the blocking hook 46 and the respective release direction are oriented in a manner consistent with the movement of the transmission element 9 imparted to the latter by the rotation of the second member 7 towards the opening of the device 1.
The hook 27 of the transmission element 9 has a distal edge assigned to slide into contact with the hooking pin 29 of the second member 7 at least in the preliminary phases to the assembled condition Z for transmitting to the transmission element 9, following the opening rotation of the second member 7, a disengagement motion of the blocking hook 46 from the blocking seat 44 or vice versa.
