Abstract

The multipurpose seat, as seating furniture with the option of conversion into a daybed or a bed for sleeping, comprising fixed legs (2) interconnected by longitudinal members (1) and cross members (3). At the top, it comprises a folding board (4), beneath which a sliding board (5) is positioned. By extending the sliding board (5) and folding the folding legs (51) from the horizontal into the vertical position, the seat can be adjusted to seat two persons. Another adjustment option is changing the inclination of the folding board (4) from horizontal to inclined, converting the seat into a daybed, or, depending on its dimensions, into a bed for sleeping. The technical solution of the multipurpose seat allows two seats to be joined together by a disassemblable fixed joint and to be converted into a two- or three-seat as well as a bed for sleeping.

Description

Technical Field

The invention pertains to household furnishings and, as furniture, relates to a seat for seating with the possibility of conversion into a daybed or a bed for sleeping.

Background art

Various furniture devices are known in the prior art that allow a change in intended use through simple assembly modifications. This furniture has the advantage that with one space required for its placement in the apartment, it allows for additional or multiple uses.
The solution according to UV 563 SK is a dual-purpose seat that can be adapted into a ladder for occasional household chores such as window cleaning.
Utility model UV 2411 SK discloses a chair construction that can be converted into a kneeling seat through simple manipulation.
Document UV 6914 SK discloses a solution for a folding daybed with a seat part, a backrest part and side panels, wherein a pull-out trolley is placed under the seat part, on which the upholstered parts of the backrest part are folded when the seat is pulled out.
Patent No. 301584CZ relates to seating furniture convertible into a bed, the backrest of which is folded into the plane of the seating surface by means of lateral pivoting arms. The solution relates to a seat whose length is the same as the length of the modified sleeping bed.

Summary of the invention

The possibilities of solutions of the prior art are partly extended by the multipurpose seat according to the present invention comprising fixed legs, longitudinal members, cross members, a folding board, a pull-out board, the subject matter of which is that a spatial frame is formed by four vertical fixed legs, two upper longitudinal members and two lower cross members, wherein each fixed leg is in the upper part fitted with a longitudinal member and in the lower part with the cross member. The spatial frame comprises in the upper part above the longitudinal members and fixed legs a pivotally mounted folding board, with a pair of position-changing mechanisms mounted on the side opposite to the pivotally mounted folding board. Under the folding board it comprises at least one slidably mounted sliding board on the underside with a pair of folding legs.
A subject matter of the present invention is also that the fixed leg comprises a extended folding leg or telescopic extension, and the folding leg of the sliding board comprises a telescopic extension.
Another subject matter of the invention is that the support members of the spatial frame-the longitudinal member, fixed leg, cross member, telescopic extension of the fixed leg and the folding leg-as well as the folding legs themselves, of solid or hollow circular, rectangular, or other cross-section, are made from wood, metal, plastic, or another solid material. Preferably, the folding board and the sliding board are homogeneous boards or planar frames filled with a slatted grid, or other reinforcements made of wood, metal, or plastic.
A multipurpose seat solution is preferable, where the fixed leg or the telescopic extension of the fixed leg is fitted with movable castors with locking mechanism.
A multipurpose seat solution is also preferable, where the folding board and the sliding board have a functional surface with upholstery or a mattress.
The technical solution of the multipurpose seat is a furniture accessory solution that allows the seat to be used also as a sofa or a bed for sleeping, while being compact when stored or used solely as seating for one person.

Examples

Example 1

Multipurpose seat with folding legs

The multipurpose seat according to this example is, in its basic non-extended configuration, a low seated seat for one person. With a simple assembly, it can be converted into a seat with a classic height, into a seat for two people or into a sofa for one person to lie down and relax, with the legs bent at the knees and the feet resting on the floor. It is shown in Figure 1 to Figure 4.
The seat comprises four fixed legs 2 fitted with movable castors 23 with locking mechanism, attached to two upper longitudinal members 1. Opposite legs 2 are connected in the transverse direction by lower cross members 3, to form a rigid spatial frame as the support structure of the seat. At the junction where the fixed legs 2 are attached to the longitudinal members 1, extended folding legs 21 are rotatably mounted, with locking mechanism for end positions - a non-functional horizontal position and a vertical position for optimal seating height. A folding board 4 is rotatably mounted to the upper longitudinal members 1, supplemented on the side opposite the rotational mounting by a mechanism 41 for changing position of the folding board 4 from horizontal to inclined position and vice versa. The mechanism 41 for changing position of the folding board 4 for adjusting the head position of a lying person is preferably a bed fitting for changing the head position with the option of several inclined positions.
In the upper part of the seat frame, under the folding board 4, a sliding board 5 is slidably mounted, which extends horizontally outward from the seat structure via a sliding mechanism, such as a pair of sliding rails or track guides. The sliding board is supplemented by a pair of folding legs 51 pivotally fixed to the bottom part of the sliding board 5, the length of which, when folded, is identical to the length of the fixed legs 2. This sliding board 5 serves as an additional - second seat when extended. In the case of using the inclined position of the folding board 4, the seat can be used for relaxed reclining by one person with bent knees and feet resting on the floor. Depending on the dimensions of the seat, this assembled seat can also be used as a sleeping bed.
The longitudinal member 1, the fixed leg 2, the cross member 3, the folding leg 21 and the folding leg 51 are made of solid wood of rectangular cross-section, while the folding board 4 and the sliding board 5 are made of chipboard.
The functional surfaces of the seat - the folding board 4 and possibly the extended sliding board 5 - can have surfaces covered with upholstery or fitted with a mattress 6.

Example 2

Multipurpose seat with telescopic legs

The multipurpose seat according to this example is identical in purpose and construction to the seat according to Example 1 and is shown in Figure 5 in a two-person seating arrangement. The differences relate to the design of the seat height changes, in particular for use of the seat for seating.
The seat is equipped with fixed legs 2 fitted with telescopically extended legs 22 ending in movable castors 23 with locking mechanism. The folding legs 51 of the sliding board 5 are fitted with telescopically extended legs 52. The material of the fixed legs 2 as well as the folding legs 21 and 51 and the telescopic extension 22 and 52 is, unlike in Example 1, a hollow rectangular cross-section made of metal.

Example 3

Connected two multipurpose seats

The example presents a solution allowing the use of a multipurpose seat as a bed by connecting two multipurpose seats according to this invention. An example is shown in Figure 6.
The two seats are connected by two fixed detachable fasteners 7, for example by a pair of lever fasteners mounted on the inside of a pair of fixed legs 2 of the adjacent two seats, as shown in the detail of the partial section at position 7 in Figure 6. In doing so, the multipurpose seat on the left according to Figure 6 does not have a sliding board 5 extended but utilises the functionality of the folding board 4 folded to a selected inclined position. At the same time, the multipurpose seat illustrated on the right comprises a sliding board 5 extended and comprises folding legs 51 folded into a vertical position.
Two multipurpose seats connected according to this example can be used either as a two-seater for two persons, or in a modification with the extension of the sliding board as a three-, four-seater or as a single-person sleeping bed.
To complement the advantages of the multipurpose seat according to the present invention, the storage of two multipurpose seats when not in use in the space under the coffee table is schematically illustrated in Figure 7. The coffee table is depicted with thin lines, the multipurpose seats with thick lines.

Industrial applicability

The multipurpose seat of the present invention enables the furniture assembly to be optionally extended to seat additional guests or enable the assembly of an occasional bed. Its technical solution allows space-saving and compact placement in case of functional non-use, e.g. under a coffee table. As the name implies, the multipurpose seat has an extended use, including as a bed for accompanying persons of patients in hospitals.

Claims

A multipurpose seat comprising fixed legs (2), longitudinal members (1), cross members (3), a folding board (4), a sliding board (5), characterised in that a spatial frame is formed by four vertical fixed legs (2), two upper longitudinal members (1), and two lower cross members (3), where each fixed leg (2) is fitted at its upper part with the longitudinal member (1) and at its lower part with the cross member (3), and wherein the spatial frame has, at the upper part above the longitudinal members (1) and fixed legs (2), the folding board (4) rotatably mounted equipped with a pair mechanisms (41) for changing position mounted on the side opposite the rotational mounting of the folding board (4), and wherein the seat further comprises at least one sliding board (5) slidably mounted below the folding board (4), wherein the sliding board (5) comprises a pair of folding legs (51) mounted on the lower side.
The multipurpose seat according to claim 1, characterised in that the fixed leg (2) comprises an extended folding leg (21) or a telescopic extension (22), and the folding leg (51) comprises a telescopic extension (52).
The multipurpose seat according to claim 1 and claim 2, characterised in that the support members of the spatial frame, the longitudinal member (1), the fixed leg (2), the cross member (3), the telescopic extension (22) and (52), the folding leg (21) and (51) are solid or hollow circular, rectangular or other cross-section, made of wood, metal, plastic or other solid material, wherein the folding board (4) and the sliding board (5) being homogeneous boards or planar frames filled with a slatted grid or other reinforcements made of wood, metal or plastic.
A multipurpose seat according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the fixed leg (2) or the telescopic extension (22) is fitted with movable castors (23) with locking mechanism.
A multipurpose seat according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the folding board (4) and the sliding board (5) have a functional surface provided with upholstery or a mattress (6).
