Abstract
Description
- The present disclosure generally relates to an appliance trim breaker assembly and more specifically, to an appliance trim breaker assembly having adapter members.

WO2009/141128A1 discloses a cold appliance comprising a profiled bar which is mounted at an edge surface at a front frame portion of the cabinet. In an embodiment, the bar defines a chamber covered by a detachable elongate cover member made of a magnetic material. The cover member is L-shaped in cross-section and covers an outer side of the bar. Inside the chamber, there is arranged an elongate and U-shaped in cross section holder for a thermosiphon tube. In a further embodiment, the profiled bar is roughly rectangular and comprises an open chamber whose opening is covered by a metal strip acting as a lid of the chamber. The open chamber accommodates a thermosiphon tube. - Document
EP3623731A1 discloses a refrigerating appliance comprising a plastic trim breaker extending between an inner liner and an outer wrapper and a ferromagnetic plate that extends over a portion of the trim breaker. The trim breaker includes an offset that receives the ferromagnetic plate. A heat loop is disposed between the trim breaker and the ferromagnetic plate. The ferromagnetic plate includes a looped edge that defines a heating chase, the heat loop being positioned within the heating chase. - According to one aspect of the present disclosure, a refrigerator appliance includes a cabinet having a liner spaced apart from a wrapper. A trim breaker extends between the liner and the wrapper. A trim adapter assembly is coupled with the trim breaker and includes an adapter member and a corner member. The adapter member includes at least one engagement arm. A heat loop assembly is operably coupled with the adapter member and includes a cover and a heat loop. The cover includes a clip member extending along an edge of the cover. The heat loop is coupled with the cover via the clip member.
- According to another aspect of the present disclosure, a refrigerator appliance includes a cabinet having a liner spaced apart from a wrapper. A trim breaker extends between the liner and the wrapper. A trim adapter assembly is coupled with the trim breaker and includes an adapter member and a corner member. The adapter member includes a plurality of engagement arms. A cover is configured to be engaged with the plurality of engagement arms to couple the cover with the trim adapter assembly.
- According to yet another aspect of the present disclosure, a refrigerator appliance includes a cabinet including a liner spaced apart from a wrapper. A trim breaker extends between the liner and the wrapper. A trim adapter assembly has an upper member, a first side member, a second side member, and a lower member. Each of the members is coupled with the trim breaker. A cover includes a clip member engaged with the adapter member.

- The present illustrated embodiments reside primarily in combinations of method steps and apparatus components related to an appliance trim breaker assembly. Accordingly, the apparatus components and method steps have been represented, where appropriate, by conventional symbols in the drawings, showing only those specific details that are pertinent to understanding the embodiments of the present disclosure so as not to obscure the disclosure with details that will be readily apparent to those of ordinary skill in the art having the benefit of the description herein. Further, like numerals in the description and drawings represent like elements.
- For purposes of description herein, the terms "upper," "lower," "right," "left," "rear," "front," "vertical," "horizontal," and derivatives thereof shall relate to the disclosure as oriented in
FIG. 1 . Unless stated otherwise, the term "front" shall refer to the surface of the element closer to an intended viewer, and the term "rear" shall refer to the surface of the element further from the intended viewer. However, it is to be understood that the disclosure may assume various alternative orientations, except where expressly specified to the contrary. It is also to be understood that the specific devices and processes illustrated in the attached drawings, and described in the following specification are simply exemplary embodiments of the inventive concepts defined in the appended claims. - Referring to
FIGS. 1-11 ,reference numeral 10 generally designates a refrigerator appliance that includes acabinet 12. Thecabinet 12 includes a 14, 16 spaced apart from aliner wrapper 18. Atrim breaker 20 extends between the 14, 16 and theliner wrapper 18. A 22, 24 coupled with thetrim adapter assembly trim breaker 20 and including an 26, 28, 30, 32 and a corner member 34. Theadapter member 26, 28, 30, 32 includes at least oneadapter member 36, 38, 40, 42. Aengagement arm heat loop assembly 44 is operably coupled with the 26, 28, 30, 32 and includes aadapter member cover 46 and aheat loop 48. Thecover 46 includes aclip member 50 extending along an 52, 54 of theedge cover 46. Theheat loop 48 is coupled with thecover 46 via theclip member 50. - Referring again to
FIGS. 1 and2 , thecabinet 12 of anappliance 10 is illustrated including atrim breaker 20, afirst adapter assembly 22, a secondtrim adapter assembly 24, and aheat loop assembly 44. Thecabinet 12 includes arefrigerator compartment liner 14 and afreezer compartment liner 16. Therefrigerator compartment liner 14 and thefreezer compartment liner 16 are in a spaced-apart configuration forming therefrigerator compartment 60 and afreezer compartment 66. Amullion 68 is disposed between therefrigerator compartment liner 14 and thefreezer compartment liner 16. As illustrated, according to one embodiment, thefreezer compartment 66 is arranged in a bottom-mount configuration relative to therefrigerator compartment 60. Although thefreezer compartment 66 is shown as the "bottom freezer" type, the teachings set forth herein are applicable to other types of cooling appliances, including but not limited to, side-by-side refrigerator/freezers, top-mount freezers, etc. Accordingly, embodiments of the present disclosure are therefore not intended to be limited to any particular type and/or configuration of therefrigeration appliance 10. - The
refrigerator compartment liner 14 includes first and second opposing 72, 74, aside walls top wall 76, and abottom wall 78. Thefreezer compartment liner 16 includes first and second opposing 82, 84 and is positioned to align with theside walls refrigerator compartment liner 14. Thefreezer compartment liner 16 further includes atop wall 86 and abottom wall 88 extending between the first and 82, 84. Thesecond side walls top wall 86 of thefreezer compartment liner 16 may be spaced apart from thebottom wall 78 of therefrigerator compartment liner 14 by themullion 68. Aforward edge 92 of therefrigerator compartment liner 14 extends along each of the 72, 74, 76, 78 and defines awalls first opening 94. Aforward edge 96 of thefreezer compartment liner 16 extends along each of the 82, 84, 86, 88 and defines a second opening 98. Thewalls first opening 92 is in communication with therefrigerator compartment 60, and the second opening 98 is in communication with thefreezer compartment 66. - As shown in
FIGS. 2 and3 , atrim breaker 20 is coupled with and extends between one of therefrigerator compartment liner 14 and thefreezer compartment liner 16 and thewrapper 18 of thecabinet 12. Thetrim breaker 20 extends along the 92, 96 of each of theforward edge refrigerator compartment liner 14 and thefreezer compartment liner 16. In various examples, thetrim breaker 20 may be coupled with the 92, 96 of each of theforward edge 14, 16 and may be further coupled with the wrapper 18 (seeliners FIGS. 6-8 ). As illustrated inFIG. 2 , thetrim breaker 20 may be a continuous member. However, it is contemplated that thetrim breaker 20 may be formed of individual members without departing from the scope of the present disclosure. - Referring now to
FIGS. 3-5 , theappliance 10 further includes the first and 22, 24, as introduced above. As best shown insecond adapter assemblies FIG. 4 , the firsttrim adapter assembly 22 includes anupper member 110 and 112, 114. Each of the upper andside members 110, 112, 114 is configured as aside members first adapter member 26. Theupper member 110 is joined with and extends between the 112, 114. Aside members lower member 116 is configured as asecond adapter member 28 and extends between the 112, 114 such that theside members upper member 110, 112, 114 and theside members lower member 116 form a substantially rectangular shape configured to frame thefirst opening 94. Anextension member 120 may be coupled with the second adapter member, as described in more detail elsewhere herein. - Referring now to
FIGS. 4 and4A , each of the 112, 114 is coupled with theside members upper member 110 by a respectivefirst corner member 34a.FIG. 4A illustrates one of thefirst corner members 34a exploded away from theupper member 110 and one of theside members 114. While only the singlefirst corner member 34a is described in detail, it will be understood that eachfirst corner member 34a includes substantially similar features and may be engaged with any one of thefirst adapter members 26 as described. - As illustrated in
FIGS. 4 and4A , each of theupper member 110 and the 112, 114 includes opposing first andside members 124a, 124b. Eachsecond ends 124a, 124b defines a receiving well 128 configured to at least partially receive theend respective corner member 34a. As best shown inFIG. 4A , thefirst corner member 34a includes abody 132 configured to define an upper corner of the firsttrim adapter assembly 22. First and 134, 136 extend from thesecond prongs body 132. Thefirst prong 134 is positioned substantially perpendicular to thesecond prong 136. Each of the first and 134, 136 is configured to be received by the receiving well 128 of one of thesecond prongs upper member 110 and the 112, 114 to couple theside member 110, 112, 114 with therespective member first corner member 34a. - Referring now to
FIGS. 4 and4B , thelower member 116 is coupled with each of the 112, 114 by a respectiveside members second corner member 34b.FIG. 4B illustrates one of thesecond corner members 34b exploded away from thelower member 116 and one of theside members 114. While only a singlesecond corner member 34b is described in detail, it will be understood that eachsecond corner member 34b includes substantially similar features and may be engaged with thelower member 116 and any one of the 112, 114 as described.side members - As illustrated in
FIGS. 4 and4B , thelower member 116 includes opposing first and 154a, 154b. Eachsecond ends 154a, 154b is positioned proximate aend second end 124b of a 112, 114. As shown inrespective side member FIG. 4B , theend 124b of theside member 114 defines a receiving well 128 configured to at least partially receive therespective corner member 34b. As best shown inFIG. 4B , thesecond corner member 34b includes abody 142 configured to define a lower corner of the firsttrim adapter assembly 22. First and 144, 146 extend from thesecond prongs body 142. Thefirst prong 144 is positioned substantially perpendicular to thesecond prong 146 and is configured to be received by the receiving well 128 of theside member 114 to couple theside member 114 with thesecond corner member 34b. Thesecond prong 144 defines aspace 150 configured to at least partially receive acentral portion 152 of thelower member 116 to couple thelower member 116 with thesecond corner member 34b. - As best shown in
FIG. 5 , the secondtrim adapter assembly 24 includes 162, 164 and aside members lower member 166. Each of the 162, 164 and theside members lower member 166 is configured as athird adapter member 30. Thelower member 166 is joined with and extends between the 162, 164. Anside members upper member 160 is configured as afourth adapter member 32 and extends between the 162, 164 such that theside members upper member 160, 162, 164 and theside members lower member 166 form a substantially rectangular shape configured to frame the second opening 98. - Referring now to
FIGS. 5 and5A , each of the 162, 164 is coupled with theside members upper member 160 by a respectivethird corner member 34c.FIG. 5A illustrates one of thethird corner members 34c exploded away from theupper member 160 and one of theside members 164. While only a singlethird corner member 34c is described in detail, it will be understood that eachthird corner member 34c includes substantially similar features and may be engaged with theupper member 160 and any one of the 162, 164 as described.side members - As illustrated in
FIGS. 5 and5A , theupper member 160 includes opposing first and 176a, 176b. Each of thesecond ends 162, 164 includes opposing first andside members 174a, 174b and are oriented so that thesecond ends first end 174a of each 162, 164 is aligned with one of the first andside member 176a, 176b of thesecond ends upper member 160. Each 176a, 176b of theend upper member 160 defines a respective receiving well 180, and each 174a, 174b of theend 162, 164 defines a respective receiving well 178. Each receiving well 178, 180 may be configured to at least partially receive theside members respective corner member 34c. - As best shown in
FIG. 5A , thethird corner member 34c includes abody 182 configured to define an upper corner of the secondtrim adapter assembly 24. First and 184, 186 extend from thesecond prongs body 182. Thefirst prong 184 is positioned substantially perpendicular to thesecond prong 186 and is configured to be received by the receiving well 180 of one of the 176a, 176b of theends upper member 160 to couple theupper member 160 with thethird corner member 34c. Thesecond prong 186 is configured to be received by the receiving well 178 of theend 174a of one of the 162, 164 to couple theside members 162, 164 with therespective member third corner member 34c. - Referring now to
FIGS. 5 and5B , thelower member 166 is coupled with each of the 162, 164 by a respectiveside members fourth corner member 34d.FIG. 5B illustrates one of thefourth corner members 34d exploded away from thelower member 166 and one of theside members 164. While only a singlefourth corner member 34d is described in detail, it will be understood that eachfourth corner member 34d includes substantially similar features and may be engaged with thelower member 166 and any one of the 162, 164 as described.side members - As illustrated in
FIGS. 5 and5B , each of the first and 162, 164 and thesecond side members lower member 166 is configured as athird adapter member 30, as previously introduced. Each 162, 164, 166 includes opposing first andmember 174a, 174b. Eachsecond ends 174a, 174b of theend lower member 166 is positioned proximate asecond end 174b of a 162, 164. As best shown inrespective side member FIG. 5B , thefourth corner member 34d includes abody 190 configured to define a lower corner of the secondtrim adapter assembly 24. First and 192, 194 extend from thesecond prongs body 190. Thefirst prong 192 is positioned substantially perpendicular to thesecond prong 194 and is configured to be received by the receiving well 178 of theside member 114 to couple theside member 114 with thefourth corner member 34d. The second prong 196 is configured to be received by the receiving well 178 of one of the 174a, 174b of theends lower member 166 to couple thelower member 166 with thefourth corner member 34d. It will be understood that the 34a, 34b, 34c, 34d may be interchangeable based on the cross-sectional geometry of thecorner members 26, 28, 30, 32. It will further be understood that any number of configurations of theadapter members 34a, 34b, 34c, 34d may be used without departing from the scope of the present disclosure.corner members - Referring now to
FIG. 6 , a cross-sectional view of theupper member 110 of the firsttrim adapter assembly 22 is illustrated. Theupper member 110 is configured as afirst adapter member 26, as previously discussed, and is shown engaged with thetrim breaker 20 and theheat loop assembly 44. While only theupper member 110 is shown, it will be understood that any member configured as a first adapter member 26 (e.g., each of the 112, 114 of the first trim adapter assembly 22) includes substantially the same or substantially similar features and is coupled with theside members heat loop assembly 44 and thetrim breaker 20 in substantially the same manner or in a substantially similar manner. - As shown in
FIG. 6 , theupper member 110 includes abody 200 having alower portion 202 extending rearward from a forward portion 204. The forward portion 204 is configured to be aligned with at least a portion of thecover 46 of theheat loop assembly 44. In various examples, the forward portion 204 may be spaced apart from thetrim breaker 20 by alight source assembly 224. Thelower portion 202 of thetrim breaker 20 may be configured to be coupled with thelight source assembly 224. In other examples, the forward portion 204 may be spaced apart from thetrim breaker 20 by an insert or may extend to thetrim breaker 20 such that thelower portion 202 is coupled with thetrim breaker 20. - First and
208, 210 of thesecond legs first adapter member 26 extend from thebody 200 and are spaced apart from thelower portion 202 by the forward portion 204. Thefirst leg 208 of thefirst adapter member 26 extends upward from thebody 200 and is positioned substantially parallel with the forward portion 204. Thesecond leg 210 extends rearward from thebody 200 and is positioned substantially perpendicular to thefirst leg 208. Each of thefirst leg 208 and thesecond leg 210 is configured to be in contact with, and extend at least partially along, thetrim breaker 20. - As shown in
FIG. 6 , thefirst leg 208 may include afoot 214. Thefoot 214 may be configured to abut anouter portion 218 of thetrim breaker 20 or may be positioned proximate theouter portion 218 of thetrim breaker 20. Theouter portion 218 of thetrim breaker 20 may include atab 216 extending inward toward theupper member 110. Thetab 216 is configured to engage with thefoot 214 of thefirst leg 208 to retain theupper member 110 in contact with thetrim breaker 20. - The
trim breaker 20 may further define a receivingspace 220 configured to open forward of the trim breaker 20 (e.g., the receivingspace 220 may be positioned to open in a direction opposite theforward edge 92 of therefrigerator compartment liner 14.) When theupper member 110 is coupled with thetrim breaker 20, thesecond leg 210 may be inserted into the receivingspace 220, and thefoot 214 may be engaged with thetab 216. In various examples, thefoot 214 may be configured to snap engage with thetab 216. It will be understood that any number oftabs 216 may be defined along thetrim breaker 20 to retain theupper member 110 without departing from the scope of the present disclosure. - As shown in
FIG. 6 , at least oneengagement arm 36 extends forwardly from thebody 190 of theupper member 110. Theengagement arm 36 may be one of a plurality ofengagement arms 36 spaced apart along a length of the upper member 110 (seeFIG. 4 ) or may be acontinuous engagement arm 36 extending along at least a portion of the length of theupper member 110. Theengagement arm 36 may be hook-shaped and configured to engage with thecover 46 of theheat loop assembly 44. For example, theengagement arm 36 may be configured to engage with theclip member 50 of theheat loop assembly 44 to at least partially couple theheat loop assembly 44 with theupper member 110 and thetrim breaker 20. - Referring now to
FIG. 7 , a cross-sectional view of themullion 68 of thecabinet 12 of theappliance 10 is illustrated (seeFIG. 3 ). Thelower member 116 of the firsttrim adapter assembly 22 and theupper member 160 of the secondtrim adapter assembly 24 are illustrated engaged with thetrim breaker 20 and theheat loop assembly 44. As previously introduced, thelower member 116 of the firsttrim adapter assembly 22 is configured as asecond adapter member 28, and theupper member 160 of the secondtrim adapter assembly 24 is configured as afourth adapter member 32. It will be understood that any member configured as asecond adapter member 28 includes substantially the same or substantially similar features to those of thelower member 116 and is coupled with theheat loop assembly 44 and thetrim breaker 20 in substantially the same manner or in a substantially similar manner. It will also be understood that any member configured as afourth adapter member 32 includes substantially the same or substantially similar features to those of theupper member 160 and is coupled with theheat loop assembly 44 and thetrim breaker 20 in substantially the same manner or in a substantially similar manner. - As shown in
FIG. 7 , thelower member 116 of the firsttrim adapter assembly 22 and theupper portion 160 of the secondtrim adapter assembly 24 are each coupled with amullion section 242 of thetrim breaker 20. Themullion section 242 of thetrim breaker 20 includes anupper portion 246 and alower portion 250. Theupper portion 246 includes anupper corner 248 positioned proximate thefirst opening 94. Theupper portion 246 further defines a receivingspace 244 proximate theupper corner 248 and configured to at least partially receive thelower member 116. - Referring now to
FIGS. 3 and7 , thelower member 116 of the firsttrim adapter assembly 22 is configured as asecond adapter member 28, as previously introduced. Thelower member 116 includes abody 230 positioned forward of theupper portion 246 of thetrim breaker 20. In various examples, thebody 230 may be positioned at least partially above theupper portion 246 of thetrim breaker 20 and includes aforward portion 232. Theforward portion 232 is positioned to at least partially align with thecover 46 and may be configured to at least partially conceal themullion section 242 of thetrim breaker 20 and/or a portion of thelower member 116. Thebody 230 may further include thecentral portion 152, as previously discussed with respect to thecorner member 34b. Thecentral portion 152 may be integrally formed with theforward portion 232. - The
lower member 116 further includes afirst leg 236 extending rearward from thecentral portion 152 and is positioned substantially perpendicular to theforward portion 232. Thefirst leg 236 extends along theupper portion 246 of themullion section 242 of thetrim breaker 20 and may be received by the receivingspace 244. Asecond leg 238 extends downward from thefirst leg 236 and is substantially perpendicular to thefirst leg 236. Thesecond leg 238 may be positioned to extend along theupper portion 246 of themullion section 242 of thetrim breaker 20 such that the first and 236, 238 of thesecond legs lower member 116 are positioned to frame theupper corner 248 of theupper portion 246. - As shown in
FIG. 7 , thebody 230 of thelower member 116 may be configured to couple with theextension member 120. Thebody 230 defines acoupling space 256 positioned above the upper portion of thetrim breaker 20. Thecoupling space 256 is configured to receive aforward end 258 of theextension member 120. When theforward end 258 is received by thecoupling space 256, theextension member 120 is positioned to extend over theupper portion 246 of thetrim breaker 20 to at least partially conceal thetrim breaker 20. - As shown in
FIG. 7 , at least oneengagement arm 38 extends forwardly from thesecond leg 238 of the lower member 116 (i.e., a second adapter member 28). Theengagement arm 38 may be one of a plurality ofengagement arms 38 spaced apart along a length of the lower member 116 (seeFIG. 4 ) or may be acontinuous engagement arm 38 extending along at least a portion of the length of thelower member 116. Theengagement arm 38 may be hook-shaped and configured to engage with thecover 46 of theheat loop assembly 44. For example, theengagement arm 38 may be configured to engage with theclip member 50 of theheat loop assembly 44 to at least partially couple theheat loop assembly 44 with thelower member 116 and thetrim breaker 20. - With continued reference to
FIGS. 3 and7 , theupper member 160 of the secondtrim adapter assembly 24 is illustrated coupled with alower portion 250 of themullion section 242. Thelower portion 250 extends downward from theupper portion 246 and is integrally formed with theupper portion 246. Afoot 252 is integrally formed with thelower portion 250 and extends forward of thetrim breaker 20. - As previously introduced, the
upper member 160 of the secondtrim adapter assembly 24 is configured as afourth adapter member 32. Theupper member 160 includes abody 262 having aforward portion 264 at least partially aligned with thecover 46 of theheat loop assembly 44. Thebody 262 is positioned forward of thefoot 252 of thelower portion 250 of themullion section 242 and is configured to at least partially conceal thefoot 252 of thelower portion 250. - As illustrated in
FIG. 7 , thebody 262 of theupper member 160 further includes aleg 266 extending rearward from theforward portion 264 and at least partially aligned with thelower portion 250 of themullion section 242. Thebody 262 further defines a receivingspace 268 proximate theleg 266. The receivingspace 268 is configured to receive thefoot 252 of thelower portion 250 such that theleg 266 extends along thelower portion 250 of themullion section 242. - As shown in
FIG. 7 , at least oneengagement arm 42 extends forwardly from theleg 266 of the upper member 160 (i.e., a fourth adapter member 32). Theengagement arm 42 may be one of a plurality ofengagement arms 42 spaced apart along a length of the upper member 160 (seeFIG. 5 ) or may be acontinuous engagement arm 42 extending along at least a portion of the length of theupper member 160. Theengagement arm 42 may be hook-shaped and configured to engage with thecover 46 of theheat loop assembly 44. For example, theengagement arm 42 may be configured to engage with theclip member 50 of theheat loop assembly 44 to at least partially couple theheat loop assembly 44 with theupper member 160 and thetrim breaker 20. - Referring now to
FIG. 8 , a cross-sectional view of thelower member 166 of the secondtrim adapter assembly 24 is illustrated. Thelower member 166 is configured as athird adapter member 30, as previously discussed, and is shown engaged with thetrim breaker 20 and theheat loop assembly 44. While only thelower member 166 is shown, it will be understood that any member configured as a third adapter member 30 (e.g., each of the 162, 164 of the second trim adapter assembly 24) includes substantially the same or substantially similar features and is coupled with theside members heat loop assembly 44 and thetrim breaker 20 in substantially the same manner or in a substantially similar manner. - As shown in
FIG. 8 , thelower member 166 includes abody 274 having arear portion 272 spaced apart from aforward portion 276. Therear portion 272 is positioned to align with at least a portion of thetrim breaker 20 and is substantially parallel with theforward portion 276. Theforward portion 276 is configured to be aligned with at least a portion of thecover 46 of theheat loop assembly 44 and abuts thecover 46 at a terminal end. - The
lower member 166 further includes aleg 278 positioned within arecess 280 defined by thetrim breaker 20. Theleg 278 extends along at least a portion of thetrim breaker 20 within therecess 280. Theleg 278 is integrally formed with therear portion 272 and extends at least partially parallel with therear portion 272 and theforward portion 276. For example, theleg 278 may be L-shaped such that a portion of theleg 278 is perpendicular to therear portion 272 and a portion of theleg 278 is parallel with therear portion 272. Alternatively, theleg 278 may extend downward from therear portion 272 and be oriented substantially parallel with therear portion 272 and theforward portion 276. - With continued reference to
FIG. 8 , theleg 278 may include afoot 284 configured to abut anouter portion 218 of thetrim breaker 20. Alternatively, thefoot 284 may be positioned proximate theouter portion 218 of thetrim breaker 20. Theouter portion 218 of thetrim breaker 20 may include atab 286 extending into therecess 280. Thetab 286 is configured to engage with thefoot 284 of theleg 278 to retain thelower member 166 in contact with thetrim breaker 20. In various examples, thefoot 284 may be configured to snap engage with thetab 286. It will be understood that any number oftabs 286 may be defined along thetrim breaker 20 to retain thelower member 166 without departing from the scope of the present disclosure. - As shown in
FIG. 8 , at least oneengagement arm 40 extends forwardly from theleg 278 of thelower member 166. Theengagement arm 40 may be one of a plurality ofengagement arms 40 spaced apart along a length of the lower member 166 (seeFIG. 5 ) or may be acontinuous engagement arm 40 extending along at least a portion of the length of thelower member 166. As illustrated, theengagement arm 40 may be hook-shaped and configured to engage with thecover 46 of theheat loop assembly 44. For example, theengagement arm 40 may be configured to engage with theclip member 50 of theheat loop assembly 44 to at least partially couple theheat loop assembly 44 with thelower member 166 and thetrim breaker 20. - Referring now to
FIGS. 6-11 , theheat loop assembly 44 is illustrated operably coupled with the first andsecond adapter assemblies 22, 24 (FIGS. 6-8 ) and separated from theappliance 10 and other components (FIGS. 9-11 ). As introduced above, theheat loop assembly 44 includes thecover 46 configured to couple with the 26, 28, 30, 32 of the first andadapter members 22, 24 to retain and conceal thesecond adapter assemblies heat loop 48. - In various examples, as illustrated in
FIGS. 1-3 , theheat loop assembly 44 may be configured to surround both therefrigerator compartment 60 and thefreezer compartment 66 and conceal themullion 68. Theheat loop assembly 44 includes an upper portion 294, amullion portion 296, and a lower portion 298. The upper portion 294 is configured to align with and engage with the firsttrim adapter assembly 22 proximate therefrigerator compartment 60, and the lower portion 298 is configured to align with and engage with the secondtrim adapter assembly 22 proximate thefreezer compartment 66. Themullion portion 296 extends between the upper and lower portions 294, 298 and is configured to cover and/or conceal themullion 68. Thecover 46 further includes afirst side 290 configured as a side portion and asecond side 292 configured as a forward portion. As shown inFIGS. 9-11 , thefirst side 290 extends about a periphery of thecover 46 and is positioned substantially perpendicular to thesecond side 292. - As best shown in
FIGS. 6 and8 , when theheat loop assembly 44 is coupled with the first and 22, 24, thesecond adapter assemblies first side 290 is configured to extend along theouter portion 218 of thetrim breaker 20 and is configured to at least partially cover thetrim breaker 20. In various examples, thefirst side 290 may be coupled with theouter portion 218 of thetrim breaker 20. For example, thefirst side 290 may be welded or adhered to theouter portion 218 or may be coupled with theouter portion 218 via fasteners. Referring now toFIGS. 6-8 , thesecond side 292 is configured to at least partially conceal the first and 22, 24 and thesecond adapter assemblies trim breaker 20. In other words, thesecond side 292 of thecover 46 may be positioned forward of at least part of each of the 26, 28, 30, 32 and theadapter members trim breaker 20. In various examples, thesecond side 292 may be positioned to align with the 204, 232, 264, 276 of each of theforward portions 26, 28, 30, 32.adapter members - As illustrated in
FIG. 9 , thesecond side 292 may include an upperinner edge 52 and a lowerinner edge 54. The upperinner edge 52 may be configured to frame thefirst opening 94 when theheat loop assembly 44 is coupled with theappliance 10, and the lowerinner edge 54 may be configured to frame the second opening 98 when theheat loop assembly 44 is coupled with theappliance 10. - Referring now to
FIGS. 9-11 , thesecond side 292 of thecover 46 may further be configured to support and/or retain theheat loop 48. For example, a plurality ofclip members 50 may be positioned along each 52, 54. The plurality ofinner edge clip members 50 extend from the 52, 54 in a direction parallel to theinner edges first side 290 of thecover 46. Eachclip member 50 may be coupled with thesecond side 292 of thecover 46 or may be integrally formed with thesecond side 292 of thecover 46. Theheat loop 48 is positioned along thesecond side 292 of thecover 46 and is coupled with thecover 46 by the plurality ofclip members 50. - Each
clip member 50 may include a plurality ofclips 300. The plurality ofclips 300 are interspaced along theclip member 50 and may be equally or unequally spaced along theclip member 50 and may include any number of clips without departing from the scope of the present disclosure. It is also contemplated that any fastener configured to retain theheat loop 48 on thesecond side 292 may be used with or in lieu of the plurality ofclip members 50. - Each
clip member 50 may further include a plurality of spacers 304 interspaced with the plurality ofclips 300. The plurality of spacers 304 may be integrally formed with therespective clip member 50 or may be removably coupled with therespective clip member 50. Each spacer 304 extends along thesecond side 292 of thecover 46 and is configured to space theheat loop 48 away from the respective 52, 54. It is contemplated that eachinner edge clip member 50 may have a different configuration ofclips 300 and spacers 304 including configurations that have only a plurality ofclips 300 or only a plurality of spacers 304 without departing from the scope of the present disclosure. - It will be understood by one having ordinary skill in the art that construction of the described disclosure and other components is not limited to any specific material. Other exemplary embodiments of the disclosure disclosed herein may be formed from a wide variety of materials, unless described otherwise herein.
- For purposes of this disclosure, the term "coupled" (in all of its forms, couple, coupling, coupled, etc.) generally means the joining of two components (electrical or mechanical) directly or indirectly to one another. Such joining may be stationary in nature or movable in nature. Such joining may be achieved with the two components (electrical or mechanical) and any additional intermediate members being integrally formed as a single unitary body with one another or with the two components. Such joining may be permanent in nature or may be removable or releasable in nature unless otherwise stated.
- It is also important to note that the construction and arrangement of the elements of the disclosure as shown in the exemplary embodiments is illustrative only. Although only a few embodiments of the present innovations have been described in detail in this disclosure, those skilled in the art who review this disclosure will readily appreciate that many modifications are possible (e.g., variations in sizes, dimensions, structures, shapes and proportions of the various elements, values of parameters, mounting arrangements, use of materials, colors, orientations, etc.) without materially departing from the novel teachings and advantages of the subject matter recited. For example, elements shown as integrally formed may be constructed of multiple parts or elements shown as multiple parts may be integrally formed, the operation of the interfaces may be reversed or otherwise varied, the length or width of the structures and/or members or connector or other elements of the system may be varied, the nature or number of adjustment positions provided between the elements may be varied. It should be noted that the elements and/or assemblies of the system may be constructed from any of a wide variety of materials that provide sufficient strength or durability, in any of a wide variety of colors, textures, and combinations. Accordingly, all such modifications are intended to be included within the scope of the present invention.
- It will be understood that any described processes or steps within described processes may be combined with other disclosed processes or steps to form structures within the scope of the present disclosure. The exemplary structures and processes disclosed herein are for illustrative purposes and are not to be construed as limiting.
Claims (15)
- A refrigerator appliance (10), wherein the refrigerator appliance (10) includes a cabinet (12) having a liner (14, 16) spaced apart from a wrapper (18),wherein a trim breaker (20) extends between the liner (14, 16) and the wrapper (18); andwherein a trim adapter assembly (22, 24) is coupled with the trim breaker (20),characterized in that the trim adapter assembly (22, 24) includes an adapter member (26, 28, 30, 32) and a corner member (34a, 34b, 34c, 34d); andin that the adapter member (26, 28, 30, 32) includes at least one engagement arm (36, 38, 40, 42).
- The refrigerator appliance (10) of claim 1, further including a cover (46).
- The refrigerator appliance (10) of claim 2, the adapter member (26, 28, 30, 32) including a plurality of engagement arms (36, 38, 40, 42), wherein the cover (46) is configured to be engaged with the plurality of engagement arms (36, 38, 40, 42) to couple the cover (46) with the trim adapter assembly (22, 24).
- The refrigerator appliance (10) of claim 2 or claim 3, wherein a heat loop assembly (44) is operably coupled with the adapter member (26, 28, 30, 32) and includes the cover (46) and a heat loop (48), the cover (46) including a clip member (50) extending along an edge (52, 54) of the cover (46), the heat loop (48) being coupled with the cover (46) via the clip member (50).
- The refrigerator appliance (10) of claim 4, wherein the trim adapter assembly (22, 24) includes an upper member (110, 160), a first side member (112, 162), a second side member (114, 164), and a lower member (116, 166), wherein each of the members (110, 112, 114, 116, 160, 162, 164, 166) is coupled with the trim breaker (20), the heat loop assembly (44) being operably coupled with the adapter member (26, 28, 30, 32) of said upper member (110, 160), first side member (112, 162), second side member (114, 164) and lower member (116, 166).
- The refrigerator appliance (10) of any one of claims 1-3, wherein the clip member (50) includes a plurality of clips (300) interspaced along the clip member (50) and wherein the clip member (50) includes a plurality of spacers (304) interspaced with the plurality of clips (300).
- The refrigerator appliance (10) of any one of claims 1-6, wherein the trim breaker (20) defines a receiving space (220, 244, 268) and at least one of the upper member (110, 160), the first side member (112, 162), the second side member (114, 164), and the lower member (116, 166) includes a leg (236, 238, 266, 278) configured to be received by the receiving space (244, 268).
- The refrigerator appliance (10) of claim 7, wherein the leg (236, 238, 266, 278) includes a foot (252, 284) and the trim breaker (20) includes a tab (286) extending into the receiving space (244, 268), and further wherein the tab (286) is configured to be engaged with the foot (252, 284).
- The refrigerator appliance (10) of any one of claims 1-8, wherein the cover includes a side portion (290) and a forward portion (292), the forward portion (292) configured to at least partially conceal the trim adapter assembly (22, 24).
- The refrigerator appliance (10) of any one of claims 1-9, wherein the adapter member (26, 28, 30, 32) includes a leg (208, 210) extending along a portion of the trim breaker (20).
- The refrigerator appliance (10) of claim 10, wherein the trim breaker (20) defines a receiving space (220) configured to receive the leg (208, 210) of the adapter member (26, 28, 30, 32).
- The refrigerator appliance (10) of any one of claims 1-11, wherein the engagement arm (36) is hook-shaped and is configured to engage with the cover (46) of the heat loop assembly (44).
- The refrigerator appliance (10) of any one of claims 1-12, wherein the corner member (34a, 34b, 34c, 34d) includes a body (132) configured to define an upper corner of the trim adapter assembly (22, 24) and wherein first and second prongs (134, 136) extend from the body (132).
- The refrigerator appliance (10) of claim 13, wherein the first prong (134) is positioned perpendicular to the second prong (136).
- The refrigerator appliance (10) of claim 13 or claim 14, wherein the each of the first and second prongs (134, 136) is configured to be received by a receiving well (128) of one of the upper member (110, 160), the first side member (112, 162), the second side member (114, 164), and the lower member (116, 166) to couple the respective member (110, 112, 114, 116, 160, 162, 164, 166) with the corner member (34a, 34b, 34c, 34d).
