Description

  • The present invention relates to a dishwasher comprising a rack whereon items to be washed are placed.
  • In dishwashers, racks are used for placing items to be washed into the dishwasher. Generally, two racks are placed in the dishwasher one above the other. The lower racks stay on the base of the washing tub when the door of the dishwasher is in the closed position. In order to load the dishes for washing and then to unload the same, the rack is pulled forward on the door such that the rack moves over the door which is parallel to the horizontal axis. If pulled forward rapidly, the lower rack comes out of the washing tub completely and falls to the ground, causing the items placed therein to be damaged. Therefore, stoppers extending from the bottom of the rack towards the door are developed. In particular, stoppers are known which extend from the rear-bottom part of the rack to the back of the door and prevent the rack from leaving the door. However, when the rack is stopped on the door, the user's access to the rack is limited, making it difficult to reach the items at the rear part of the rack.
  • The state of the art United States Patent Document No. US20090151758 discloses an additional stopper which is disposed on the two front wheels and which enables the rack to stop while moving over the door so as to prevent the same from falling to the ground, and also discloses an obstructive member which is disposed on the door.
  • The state of the art German Patent Document No. DE8506735 discloses a front wheel and a rear wheel each having a different radius and a stopper member which is provided on the side wall.
  • The aim of the present invention is the realization of a dishwasher wherein the lower rack, in which items to be washed are placed, can be moved safely, providing ease of use.
  • The dishwasher realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, comprises a body; a washing tub which is disposed in the body; at least one rack which is disposed in the washing tub; at least one spraying member which sprays water onto the rack; a door which is provided on the body; and a stopper which is provided on the rack. The washing tub wherein the washing process is performed is disposed in the body. The racks are placed into the washing tub. The kitchen items are placed on the racks, water is delivered onto the kitchen items by means of the spraying member, and thus the cleaning process is performed. The door provided on the body has a closed position where the washing tub is completely isolated from the outside environment and an open position where the door is parallel to the bottom of the washing tub. The user pulls the rack towards over the door while loading and unloading the kitchen items. By means of a pathway provided on the door, the rack is enabled to move over the door. By means of a stopper extending from the rear and bottom of the rack to the lower edge of the door, the rack is prevented from leaving the door. Thus, the safety of the rack and the kitchen items thereon is ensured during loading and unloading.
  • The dishwasher of the present invention comprises the stopper which enables the rack to move outward along the length of the stopper when the stopper gets into contact with the lower edge of the door. As the stopper enables the rack to further move for the length of the stopper, the rack can move over the door for a distance equal to the length of the stopper. Thus, it becomes easier for the user to access the rear part of the rack and the safety of the rack is ensured.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher comprises the stopper having a shaft with an L form at both ends thereof. By means of the L form, the stopper is enabled to limit the movement of the rack. The rack can further move over the door for the length of the shaft.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher comprises at least one fixing member which is attached to the base of the rack and at least one channel which is provided on the fixing member. The shaft moves by sliding on the channel. Thus, the movement of the rack is ensured.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher comprises the stopper having a first protrusion which is provided on the shaft and which extends from the lower edge of the rack to the lower edge of the door so as to bear against the lower edge of the door when the rack slides over the door and moves outward, and a first position wherein the shaft moves by sliding on the channel when the first protrusion gets into contact the lower edge of the door such that the rack further moves for the length of the shaft. When the stopper is in the first position, the first protrusion touches the lower edge of the door and the shaft on the channel under the rack starts to slide on the channel. When the first protrusion is on the lower edge of the door, the shaft slides along the channel for the length of the shaft. Thus, the rack is enabled to continue moving over the door.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher comprises a second protrusion which is provided on the other end of the shaft, which bears against the fixing member while the shaft slides on the channel when the stopper is in the first position and the first protrusion is in contact with the lower edge of the door, and thus which stops the movement of the rack. The second protrusion extends so as not to get into contact with the lower edge of the door. The second protrusion just hits the fixing member and prevents the shaft from leaving the fixing member.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher comprises a damping member which is provided along the lower edge of the door. Thus, when the stopper is in the first position, the first protrusion is enabled to get into contact with the bottom of the door move softly.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher comprises the stopper having a second position wherein the first protrusion hits the rear wall of the washing tub such that the shaft slides on the channel when the rack is pushed into the washing tub and wherein the second protrusion moves away from the fixing member. When the rack is in the washing tub and the door is in the closed position, the stopper is in the second position.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher comprises the first protrusion of which the surface in contact with the washing tub while the stopper shifts between the first position and the second position is coated with a material with high damping property. Thus, any noise and deformation are prevented which may be generated when the first protrusion hits the rear wall of the washing tub.
