Abstract
Description
- This application claims the benefit of Chinese Patent Application No.
CN202221830117.9 filed on July 15, 2022 - The present invention relates to a connector housing and a connector comprising the connector housing.
- In the prior art, a connector with electromagnetic shielding requirement typically includes a housing, a shielding shell, and terminals. The terminals are installed in the housing and located in the shielded housing. The connection leg of the shielding shell extends through a slit on the installation base of the connector housing for electrical contact with the device housing.
- In the prior art, in order to achieve waterproof sealing, a sealing ring is usually installed on the bottom surface of the installation base of the connector housing, and the slit on the installation base is located inside the area surrounded by the sealing ring. When the connector housing is installed on the device housing, the sealing ring is squeezed between the connector housing and the device housing to achieve sealing between the two, so that the water vapor outside the connector housing cannot enter the device housing through the gap between the connector housing and the device housing.
- However, in the prior art, before the connector housing is mated with the mating connector housing, the mating port of the connector housing is open, which causes water vapor to enter the inside of the connector housing through the mating port of the connector housing and enter the device housing through the slit on the installation base.
- The present invention has been made to overcome or alleviate at least one aspect of the above mentioned disadvantages.
- According to an aspect of the present invention, there is provided a connector housing. A slit is formed on the installation base that allows a connection leg of a shielding shell of a connector to pass through, and the slit is located between the first sealing ring installation groove and the second sealing ring installation groove and is spaced from the first sealing ring installation groove and the second sealing ring installation groove.
- According to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the connector housing further comprises a terminal holder which is connected to the installation base and extends into the inner cavity to hold a terminal of the connector, the first sealing ring installation groove surrounds the terminal holder and is spaced from the terminal holder.
- According to another exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the terminal holder has a main body portion extending into the inner cavity and a lower end portion protruding from the bottom surface of the installation base, the lower end portion of the terminal holder is adapted to be inserted into an installation port of the device housing, and the second sealing ring installation groove surrounds the lower end portion of the terminal holder.
- According to another exemplary embodiment of the present invention, a terminal installation slot is formed in the terminal holder to allow the terminal to pass through, and a glue injection cavity for injecting sealing glue is formed on the end face of the lower end portion of the terminal holder, the glue injection cavity is communicated with the terminal installation slot, and a part of the terminal passes through the glue injection cavity.
- According to another exemplary embodiment of the present invention, a terminal slot is formed in the main body portion of the terminal holder to allow a mating terminal to be inserted and in electrical contact with an upper end of the terminal extending into the terminal slot.
- According to another exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the connector housing further comprises a retaining tongue which is arranged in the terminal slot and connected to the installation base to maintain the upper end of the terminal extending into the terminal slot.
- According to another exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the installation base has a flange portion that extends radially outward beyond the peripheral wall, and a connection hole is formed in the flange portion of the installation base, so that the connector housing is capable of being fixed to the device housing by a connecting piece passing through the connection hole.
- According to another exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the second sealing ring installation groove is located inside an area surrounded by the first sealing ring installation groove and is spaced from the first sealing ring installation groove; the connection hole is located outside the area surrounded by the first sealing ring installation groove and is spaced from the first sealing ring installation groove.
- According to another aspect of the present invention, there is provided a connector.
