Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for emergency stopping a commercial vehicle, preferably an autonomous commercial vehicle, with the commercial vehicle having a pneumatic brake system with a primary service brake system and a parking brake system, which are supplied by at least one compressed air supply, with the primary service brake system having a primary electronic service brake control unit for controlling of the primary service brake system and service brake actuators, wherein the parking brake system has an electronic parking brake control unit for controlling the parking brake system and parking brake actuators on at least one vehicle axle, and wherein the pneumatic braking system has wheel speed sensors that provide wheel speed signals to the primary electronic service brake control unit and the electronic parking brake control unit.
- the invention also relates to a pneumatic brake system with an emergency stop function for a commercial vehicle, preferably an autonomous commercial vehicle, comprising: a primary service brake system and a parking brake system, which are supplied by at least one compressed air supply, the primary service brake system having a primary electronic service brake control unit for controlling the primary service brake system and service brake actuators, wherein the parking brake system has an electronic parking brake control unit for controlling the parking brake system and parking brake actuators on at least one vehicle axle; and wheel speed sensors providing wheel speed signals to the primary service brake electronic control unit and the parking brake electronic control unit.
- DE 102014013756 B3 proposes an electropneumatic service brake device as the service brake device, which comprises an electropneumatic service brake valve device, an electronic brake control device, electropneumatic modulators and pneumatic wheel brake actuators, with the electronic brake control device controlling the electropneumatic modulators electrically in order to generate pneumatic brake pressures or brake control pressures for the pneumatic To generate wheel brake actuators individually for each wheel, axle or side.
- the electropneumatic service brake valve device has a service brake actuator, and also within an electrical service brake circuit's an electrical channel with a service brake actuator actuated electric brake value transmitter. Furthermore, an electronic evaluation device that receives the actuating signals is provided, which, depending on the actuating signals, feeds brake request signals into the electronic brake control device, and also includes at least one pneumatic channel within at least one pneumatic service brake circuit, in which at least one Control piston of the service brake valve device is loaded with a first actuation force and the control piston in response thereto allows pneumatic brake pressures or brake control pressures to be generated for the pneumatic wheel brake actuators.
- the electronic evaluation device of the electropneumatic service brake valve device also includes electronic control means for generating a second actuating force, independent of a driver braking request, which acts on the control piston in the same direction or in the opposite direction to the first actuating force when there is a braking request that is independent of the driver's request.
- the electropneumatic service brake device is supplied by an electrical energy source which is independent of a second electrical energy source which supplies the electropneumatic service brake valve device with electrical energy. This ensures that at least one of the two systems always works as far as possible.
- the electrical or electropneumatic steering device is supplied with energy from the second electrical energy source. This is intended to achieve a high residual availability. However, the system is complex and cannot be easily implemented in every commercial vehicle.
- DE 10 2016 005 318 A1 A system that provides electronically pneumatically controlled redundancy is disclosed in DE 10 2016 005 318 A1.
- the system disclosed there uses a bypass valve in order to pass on control pressures depending on the failure of a subsystem in order to at least supply the electrically failed circuit at least pneumatically. This also increases the residual availability.
- Similar systems are disclosed in DE 10 2016 010 462 A1 and in DE 10 2016 010 464 A1.
- DE 10 2016 010 463 A1 discloses a system and method in which pilot valves are electronically controlled via a redundancy signal if a failure or a defect in the electronic control of wheel brakes of the brake system is detected. The system attempts to prevent the wheels from locking.
- DE 10 2017 002 716, DE 10 2017 002 718, DE 10 2017 002 719 and DE 10 2017 002 721 systems are known in which a redundancy is generated pneumatically.
- Various controlled brake pressures for example front axle, rear axle or trailer brake pressures, are used to provide these failed systems, such as the front axle brake circuit, rear axle brake circuit, parking brake circuit or trailer brake circuit, as redundancy pressure. In this way, a subordinate pneumatic redundancy level is generated, so that a high residual availability is also achieved.
- DE 10 2017 001 409 A1 describes a method for controlling an autonomous vehicle with a vehicle control unit for controlling autonomous driving functions of the vehicle and with a brake control unit for controlling braking functions of a particularly pneumatic braking system of the vehicle with at least one braking device, particularly a parking brake.
- the brake device can be activated by the brake control unit and/or the vehicle control unit for braking and can be deactivated for driving, in that at least one switching element is activated.
- the solution shown in DE 10 2017 001 409 A1 is characterized in that the switching element, preferably a solenoid valve, has two electrical conductors for activation, one of the two conductors being switched by the brake control unit and the other of the two conductors being switched by the vehicle control unit.
- the invention takes as its starting point such systems and recognizes that they generally work well and are suitable for a variety of applications. Nevertheless, there are applications in which a commercial vehicle, in particular designed as an au tonomes commercial vehicle, should be decelerated and stopped in the event of an error that can also lie outside of the commercial vehicle.
- the invention sees a need here and sets out to specify such a method and a pneumatic braking system by means of which a commercial vehicle, in particular an autonomous commercial vehicle, can be safely stopped.
- the invention solves the problem with a method for emergency stopping a commercial vehicle, preferably an autonomous commercial vehicle, of the type mentioned at the outset, the pneumatic brake system being designed to receive an emergency stop signal and the method having the steps: Receiving the emergency stop -signal at the primary electronic service brake control unit; braking of the commercial vehicle by the primary loading service braking system; Determining a commercial vehicle speed and falling below a predetermined speed threshold value and/or after a predetermined emergency stop time: actuating the parking brake actuators by the parking brake system.
- the invention is based on the idea that when the emergency stop signal is received, the commercial vehicle should first be decelerated by the primary service brake system, preferably to a standstill, and as soon as standstill is reached, the parking brake system actuates the spring-loaded brake actuators to bring the vehicle to a standstill to secure commercial vehicles.
- the parking brake actuators are preferably also actuated when a predetermined emergency stop time has passed. The emergency stop time is preferably measured based on the receipt of the emergency stop signal.
- the predetermined speed threshold value can be a speed of 0 m/s, so that it does not necessarily have to be undershot, but only reached.
- the speed threshold value is preferably somewhat higher, in particular 2 m/s or less, 1 m/s or less, 0.5 m/s or less. Such an area can be regarded as a standstill of the commercial vehicle.
- the speed of the commercial vehicle is preferably detected via the wheel speed sensors, which provide wheel speed signals to the primary electronic service brake control unit and the electronic parking brake control unit and/or by one or more other sensors, such as sensors on a transmission, a crankshaft, acceleration sensors, gyroscopes , and/or by supporting radio technology such as GPS.
- the wheel speed sensors which provide wheel speed signals to the primary electronic service brake control unit and the electronic parking brake control unit and/or by one or more other sensors, such as sensors on a transmission, a crankshaft, acceleration sensors, gyroscopes , and/or by supporting radio technology such as GPS.
- the emergency stop signal can be provided, for example, via an external switch that is attached to an outside of the utility vehicle.
- an external switch that is attached to an outside of the utility vehicle.
- the commercial vehicle is an autonomous one Is a commercial vehicle that is used autonomously, for example, in a depot of a company mens. If an error then occurs or a dangerous situation occurs, an employee could manually press the emergency stop button in order to brake the commercial vehicle.
- Such an emergency stop button is preferably connected to the primary electronic service brake control unit and/or the electronic parking brake control unit in order in this way to provide the emergency stop signal thereto.
- it can also be connected to a vehicle BUS of the commercial vehicle, for example, in order to provide the emergency stop signal to the electronic control units and/or other units or instances via this vehicle BUS.
- the emergency stop signal can also be received wirelessly.
- the pneumatic brake system preferably has a corresponding receiver, or the commercial vehicle has such a wireless receiver, which is then connected to the pneumatic brake system, again if necessary and using one of the vehicle BUS system.
- the emergency stop signal can be provided, for example, from a remote transmitter, such as a remote control of a company employee or via radio masts, which can be located at a company depot or can be standard cell phone masts.
- the commercial vehicle is an autonomous commercial vehicle that moves in regular road traffic.
- the receiver of the commercial vehicle can preferably be a mobile radio receiver. Provision could also be made for the emergency stop signal to be provided by other commercial vehicles that are in the vicinity of the commercial vehicle. For example, if another utility vehicle detects an error, it can be provided that this utility vehicle sends the emergency stop signal to the other utility vehicles in the area in order to cause them to brake.
- the emergency stop signal can preferably be an internal signal that is provided, for example, by a higher-level unit, such as in particular a unit for autonomous driving, a security gateway, or other modules. This can be preferred in particular if the unit The unit for autonomous driving or the other modules recognize a dangerous situation, for example with the help of optical or radar sensors, in order to stop the commercial vehicle immediately.
- a higher-level unit such as in particular a unit for autonomous driving, a security gateway, or other modules.
- the emergency stop signal is also received at the electronic parking brake control unit and if the commercial vehicle cannot be braked by the primary service brake system, the commercial vehicle is braked by the parking brake system.
- the primary service brake system it is therefore first checked whether the primary service brake system can brake the utility vehicle. If this is not the case, for example because the primary service brake system has failed due to a pneumatic, mechanical or electrical fault, the parking brake system takes over the deceleration and braking of the commercial vehicle and then ensures that it comes to a standstill.
- Such a query can be sent, for example, from the electronic parking brake control unit to the primary electronic service brake control unit and if no reply is received or a time-out signal is received or determined, the electronic parking brake control unit takes over braking and stopping the commercial vehicle. Provision can also be made for the primary electronic service brake control unit to instruct the electronic parking brake control unit directly to carry out the braking of the commercial vehicle.
- the pneumatic brake system comprises a secondary service brake system which is supplied by the or a further compressed air supply, the secondary service brake system having a secondary electronic service brake control unit for controlling the secondary service brake system.
- the emergency stop signal is also received at the secondary electronic service brake control unit and in the event that the commercial vehicle cannot be braked by the primary service brake system, the commercial vehicle is braked by the secondary service brake system.
- the emergency stop signal can be transmitted to both the primary electronic control unit using a parallel line or a bus system.
- Service brake control unit and the secondary electronic service brake control unit are provided, or the primary electronic service brake control unit and the secondary electronic service brake control unit are connected in series.
- the secondary service brake system sits functionally between the primary service brake system and the parking brake system.
- the braking in response to receipt of the emergency stop signal should first be performed by the primary service braking system. If this is not possible or not properly possible, the braking should be carried out by the secondary service braking system. If this is also not possible or not possible correctly, braking should be carried out using the parking brake system.
- the emergency stop signal can be provided directly to the secondary electronic service brake control unit, or the latter receives the emergency stop signal via the vehicle bus or from one of the other modules, such as in particular the primary electronic service brake control unit and/or the electronic parking brake control unit.
- the secondary service braking system can take over if the primary service braking system is not working or not working properly.
- the secondary service brake system can preferably query the primary service brake system and/or receive a time-out signal from it or determine such a time-out signal.
- the secondary service brake system can also be instructed directly from the primary service brake system by an initiating signal to carry out the braking.
- the braking can be immediate on the one hand and stepped on the other .
- immediate Braking is understood to mean that the parking brake actuators of the parking brake system are actuated directly and preferably with maximum force.
- graduated means that the parking brake actuators are not actuated immediately, but may initially be actuated with less force.
- the stepped actuation of the parking brake actuators can be slip-controlled, speed-dependent and/or friction-dependent.
- an ABS functionality can be implemented using the parking brake actuators. This can be implemented on the one hand by the electronic parking brake control unit or by another control unit, such as a separately provided ABS control unit. Fliering can increase safety and a safe "stop-in-lane" maneuver can be carried out. In extreme cases, blocking of one or more vehicle axles can lead to unstable braking and to the vehicle skidding, which is preferably prevented.
- the method includes the step: determining the predetermined emergency stop time.
- the predetermined emergency stop time can on the one hand be fixed and stored in an electronic module, on the other hand it is preferably determined depending on the situation, preferably by the brake system, preferably by the primary electronic control unit and/or the electronic parking brake control unit. It can also be specified by a higher-level unit, so that the determination of the predetermined emergency stop time can also be a retrieval of the value from a higher-level or another system.
- the predetermined emergency stop time may be predetermined based on one or more parameters.
- Such parameters include the state variables Shen of the primary or secondary service brake system, activity of an ABS function; Wheel speed signals, commercial vehicle speed, preferably at the time the emergency stop signal was received, friction coefficient, expected friction coefficient and vehicle weight. Other parameters can also be pulled. The parameters can be combined and weighted differently.
- State variables of the primary or secondary service brake system are in particular error states, residual availability, pressures in compressed air supplies and the presence of additional driving stability functions such as ABS, ASR, ESP and the like.
- Further parameters are preferably learned values or curves of the brake system, such as preferably learned force transmission behavior of the service brake and/or parking brake actuators, learned slip values, learned friction values, learned values relating to the tires of the commercial vehicle. In this way, an estimation of the maximum braking force can be carried out, taking into account the coefficient of friction, preferably by an electronic control unit of the braking system.
- the parking brake actuators preferably include one or more spring-loaded brake cylinders, which are opened and deflated by a spring force.
- the step of braking the commercial vehicle by the parking brake system preferably includes venting at least one of the spring-loaded brake cylinders.
- the advantage of such spring brake cylinders is, in particular, that they can be applied without pressure, while conventional service brake actuators are open without pressure and only applied when a pressure exceeding a limit value is present.
- the spring-loaded brake cylinders can be provided on one or more vehicle axles. They are typically provided on the flinter axle in commercial vehicles. Spring-loaded brake cylinders can also be used as so-called combination cylinders or tristop cylinders together with service brake cylinders, so that hardly any additional installation space is required here.
- the parking brake system preferably also has a parking brake valve unit, which is connected on the one hand to the compressed air supply or to an additional compressed air supply and on the other hand to the parking brake actuators, with the electronic parking brake control unit switching one or more valves of the parking brake valve unit to actuate the parking brake actuators through the parking brake system.
- parking brake valve units are in Basically known and can be used in different forms.
- the electronic parking brake control unit can be integrated into one module with the parking brake valve unit, although this is not mandatory.
- the electronic parking brake valve unit can also be integrated into a module together with the primary electronic service brake control unit or provided on a printed circuit board, or it can also just form a piece of software in the primary electronic service brake control unit.
- the parking brake valve unit can also be integrated with other valve units, such as in particular an axle modulator, front or flinter axle modulator, trailer control valve or the like.
- other valve units such as in particular an axle modulator, front or flinter axle modulator, trailer control valve or the like.
- the integration of the electronic parking brake control unit, parking brake valve unit and any provided trailer control unit to form a module is preferred and can entail space advantages.
- the parking brake valve unit is monostable and can be switched into a first switching position, in which the parking brake actuators are released, by providing an electrical signal, preferably by the electronic parking brake control unit. If the electrical signal is lost, the parking brake valve unit switches monostable into a second switching position in which the parking brake actuators are applied.
- the monostable parking brake valve unit can therefore be designed in such a way that it is closed when de-energized and is opened when the signal is provided. For example, a 3/2-way valve can be provided for this purpose, which in a first stable, i.e.
- Such a design of the parking brake valve unit is also referred to as "fail-safe". It is important here that the parking brake valve unit is tolerant of single faults. This means that this design of the parking brake valve unit is particularly preferred when the secondary service brake system is provided in addition to the primary service brake system, so that single errors in the primary service brake system can be compensated for by the secondary service brake system. If the commercial vehicle is operated in a limited area, such as on a company property for internal purposes only, such a monostable design of the parking brake valve unit can, however, also be used in systems that are not tolerant.
- the parking brake valve unit is bistable and has a bistable valve and a monostable holding valve, with the bistable valve having a stable release position and a stable closed position, with the parking brake actuators being able to be released in the release position of the bistable valve and in the closed position of the bistable valve the parking brake actuators can be applied.
- the holding valve then preferably locks in a pressure controlled by the bistable valve in the release position.
- the method preferably also includes the steps: switching the bistable valve into the release position for releasing the parking brake actuators; switching the holding valve into an activated switching position for locking in the pressure modulated by the bistable valve; and switching the bistable valve to the closed position.
- Such a bistable valve can be designed electromagnetically, in that it has two electro-magnetic detent positions, or it can be realized purely pneumatically by self-keeping.
- the object mentioned at the outset is achieved by a pneumatic brake system with an emergency stop function for a commercial vehicle, preferably an autonomous commercial vehicle, of the type mentioned at the outset, the primary electronic service brake control unit being designed to receive an emergency stop signal. and in response to this to brake the commercial vehicle using the primary service brake system, with the electronic parking brake control unit being designed to determine a commercial vehicle speed and to actuate the parking brake actuators using the parking brake system if the speed falls below a predetermined speed threshold value and/or a predetermined emergency stop time.
- the object mentioned at the beginning is achieved by a commercial vehicle, in particular an autonomous commercial vehicle, with a pneumatic brake system according to the second aspect of the invention, which is used to carry out the method according to one of the above preferred embodiments of a method according to the first aspect of the invention is trained.
- the pneumatic brake system of the utility vehicle according to the third aspect of the invention is designed differently than the pneumatic brake system according to the second aspect of the inventions.
- the commercial vehicle according to the third aspect of the invention is preferably an autonomous commercial vehicle and, in addition to the pneumatic brake system, also has a drive train and a unit for autonomous driving with corresponding peripheral devices.

- FIG. 3 shows a schematic sequence of the method as a block diagram.
- a commercial vehicle 1 which is preferably designed as an autonomous commercial vehicle 2, has a pneumatic brake system 4 that can be controlled electronically.
- the pneumatic brake system 4 is present in the commercial vehicle 1 is set, which is shown here very schematically, and which is shown here in particular with two front wheels 6a, 6b of a front axle VA and rear wheels 8a, 8b of a rear axle HA.

- Both the primary electronic service brake control unit 14 and the parking brake control unit 18 are connected to an autonomous driving unit 25 via a vehicle BUS 24 .
- the unit for autonomous driving 25 provides, in particular, trajectory signals, which are then implemented by the primary electronic service brake control unit in order to brake the commercial vehicle 1 .
- Signals originating from the pneumatic brake system 4 are also provided via the vehicle BUS 24, namely in particular also signals from wheel speed sensors 26a, 26b, 26c, 26d. These can then be further processed by the primary electronic service brake control unit 14 or by the unit 25 for autonomous driving.
- the primary electronic loading service brake control unit 14 controls a basically known manner Rear axle modulator 28 and a front axle modulator 30.
- the rear axle modulator 28 is connected to a first compressed air reservoir 29 and is supplied with reservoir pressure from it, as basically known in the prior art.
- the rear axle modulator 28 controls a rear axle brake pressure pBH at the rear axle service brake actuators 16c, 16d.
- the front axle modulator 30 is connected in a similar manner to a second compressed air reservoir 31 and is fed by the sem.
- the front axle modulator 30 also receives braking signals from the primary electronic service brake control unit 14 and controls in a consistent manner a front axle brake pressure pBV at the service brake actuators 16a, 16b of the front axle VA.
- a brake signal transmitter 32 is provided in the exemplary embodiment shown here ( Figure 1), which is pneumatically connected both to the first compressed air supply 29 and to the second compressed air supply 31 and controls the control of the front axle brake pressure pBV or .
- Rear axle brake pressure pBH can be controlled pneumatically. This is also known in the prior art and will not be described further.
- the brake signal transmitter 32 can also be omitted for autonomous commercial vehicles 2 .
- the brake system 4 is designed to receive an emergency stop signal SN.
- an emergency stop switch 34 is shown schematically, which can be arranged, for example, on the outside of the utility vehicle 1 so that it is easily accessible for personnel who are in the vicinity of the utility vehicle 1 .
- the emergency stop switch 34 is connected to the primary electronic service brake control unit 14 via an emergency stop signal line 36 and provides the emergency stop signal SN there.
- the emergency stop switch 34 can additionally (not shown here) also be connected to the electronic parking brake control unit 18 in order to be able to provide the emergency stop signal SN directly there as well.
- the emergency stop switch 34 with the Vehicle BUS 24 be connected.
- the emergency stop signal SN is received by the primary electronic service brake control unit 14 and made available to other elements in the utility vehicle 1 via the vehicle BUS 24 .
- FIG. 1 shows that a wireless emergency stop signal receiver 38 is provided in the commercial vehicle 1, which is directly coupled to the vehicle BUS 24.
- the wireless emergency stop signal receiver 38 can, for example, be designed as a mobile radio receiver and receive an emergency stop signal SN via a remote transmitter, which this then provides via the vehicle BUS 24 to the corresponding units of the brake system 4 be.
- FIG. 1 shows that the emergency stop signal SN can also be a purely internal emergency stop signal SN and can be provided in particular by the unit for autonomous driving 25 . If this recognizes that there is an emergency situation in which an emergency stop of the commercial vehicle 1 is required, it can output the emergency stop signal SN and this is then transmitted in the exemplary embodiment shown via the vehicle BUS 24 by the primary electronic service brake control unit 14 and the electronic parking brake control unit 18 received.
- the invention is explicitly not limited to the fact that only one of these three variants or exactly one variant shown is implemented. Rather, what is decisive is that the emergency stop signal SN is received by the brake system 4 .
- the primary electronic service brake control unit 14 causes the commercial vehicle 1 to be braked. Flierzu it causes the front axle modulator 30 to the front axle brake pressure pBV control and the rear axle modulator 28 to control the rear axle brake pressure pBH.
- the modulation of these brake pressures pBV, pBH can take place with slip control in the usual way, also using ABS valves 40a, 40b, as are provided on the front axle VA.
- This braking preferably follows with maximum deceleration, without the commercial vehicle 1 becoming unstable.
- a “stop-in-lane” maneuver is preferably carried out in this way. Preferably, no further steering takes place here, in particular no evasive steering or the like.
- the utility vehicle 1 is preferably stopped along the planned trajectory.
- the speed of the commercial vehicle 1 which is determined either via the wheel speed sensors 26a-d or via other units, such as the unit for autonomous driving 25, falls below a predetermined threshold value, it is assumed that the commercial vehicle 1 has come to a standstill, the commercial vehicle 1 fixed by the parking brake system 12 parking brake actuators 42 a, 42 b of the parking brake system 12 actuated.

- the electronic parking brake control unit 18 can also be connected directly to the emergency stop switch 34, even if this is not shown in FIG.
- the parking brake actuators 42a, 42b which are designed here as spring-loaded brake cylinders 43a, 43b
- the parking brake module 22 prompted by the electronic parking brake control unit 18, vents the spring-loaded brake cylinders 43a, 43b, which then apply.
- the electronic parking brake control unit 18 causes a parking brake pressure pF to be modulated at a spring-loaded connection 46 of the parking brake module 22 provided for this purpose.
- the parking brake system system 12 actuates the parking brake actuators 42a, 42b after a predetermined emergency stop time has elapsed, in order to achieve braking of the commercial vehicle 1 in this way.
- the electronic parking brake control unit 18 can carry out the necessary venting of the spring-actuated brake cylinders 43a, 43b in stages, so that a locking of the flinter axle FIA can be avoided.
- the electronic parking brake control unit 18 can use wheel speed signals SR of the wheel speed sensors 26a-26d.
- the electronic parking brake control unit 18 takes over.
- the electronic parking brake control unit 18 can perform the braking of the commercial vehicle 1 in response to receiving the emergency stop signal SN.
- the electronic parking brake control unit 18 also receives the emergency stop signal SN for this purpose.
- the predetermined emergency stop time can be determined on the one hand by the electronic parking brake control unit 18, the primary electronic service brake control unit 14, the unit for autonomous driving 25 or another higher or ne benordinate unit.
- the emergency stop time can be determined based on the speed VF of commercial vehicle 1 received at the time of the emergency stop signal SN, wheel speed signals SR from wheel speed sensors 26a-26d, coefficients of friction FE, or other parameters (see also FIG. 3).
- a trailer control valve 47 is additionally provided, which is also dated third compressed air reservoir 42 is supplied with reservoir pressure and controls a trailer brake pressure pBA for a trailer that may be connected to a trailer coupling head.
- the trailer control valve 47 can also be designed as a module and have its own electronic control unit.
- the primary electronic service brake control unit 14 is integrated into one module with the rear axle modulator 28 and/or the front axle modulator 30 . It is also conceivable that the primary electronic service brake control unit 14 is integrated with the electronic parking brake control unit 18 in a structural unit, a circuit board or the like. However, the two electronic control units 14, 18 are preferably separate. In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 1, the primary electronic service brake control unit 14 and the electronic parking brake control unit 18 are supplied with electrical energy from a common voltage source 48 .
- two separate voltage sources for the primary electronic service brake control unit 14 and the electronic parking brake control unit 18 are provided, so that they can be supplied with electrical energy independently of one another. This is advantageous if one of the two voltage sources should fail, so that the other of the electronic control units 14, 18 can continue to be operated.
- the parking brake valve unit 20 of the parking brake system 12 can be monostable or bistable.
- Figure 2 illustrates an example of the parking brake valve unit 20, which is formed from bistable.
- a supply connection 49 to which a first main line section 53.1 of a main line 53 is connected, is designed to receive compressed air for the parking brake module 22 and in particular the parking brake valve unit 20. Further along the main line 53, between a second main line section 53.2 and a third main line section 53.3 a main line check valve 86 is arranged, which is designed to open in the filling direction, ie in the direction of a filling flow SB flowing from the supply connection 49 into the main line 53, and to block in the opposite direction.
- a relay valve 52 of a main valve unit 50 is connected to the third main line section 53.3, the relay valve 52 being connected to the third main line section 53.3 via a second main valve connection 52.2.
- the relay valve 52 is designed to act on the second main valve connection via corresponding pressurization of a control connection 52.4
- the third main valve connection 52.3 is in turn connected to a fourth main line section 53.4.
- the fourth main line section 53.4 is connected to a pressure sensor 92 via a sixth main line section 53.6 and - to provide the parking brake pressure pF - via a fifth main line section 53.5 to a spring-loaded connection 46.
- the main line 53 has a first main line branch 81.1 between its first main line section 53.1 and the second main line section 53.2, from which a fourth control line section 82.4 of a control line 82 leads to a first bistable valve connection 72.1 of a bistable valve 72 of a pilot valve arrangement 70.
- the bistable valve 72 of the pilot valve arrangement 70 is designed as a bistable 3/2-way solenoid valve, which is shown here in a venting position 72B.
- the bistable valve 72 is designed, in a ventilation position 72A—not shown here—a pneumatic connection between the first bistable valve connection 72.1 and a third bistable valve connection
- the pilot valve assembly 70 includes a hold valve 76 .
- the third bistable valve connection 72.3 is connected to a first holding valve connection 76.1 of the holding valve 76 via a third control line section 82.3 of the control line 82.
- the pilot valve arrangement 70 can be designed as a structural unit, but it is also possible for the bistable valve 72 and the holding valve 76 to be designed as independent components.
- a second control line section 82.2 is connected to the second holding valve connection 76.2.
- the second control line section 82.2 is in turn pneumatically connected to a second selection valve connection 54.2 of a selection valve 54, in the present case designed as a shuttle valve 56.
- the shuttle valve 56 has a biasing spring 56.1, which presses a valve body with a spring force against a first selection valve connection 54.1 and thus keeps the shuttle valve 54 spring-biased in a first valve position.
- the second selector valve port 54.2 is pneumatically connected to the third selector valve port 54.3.
- a first control line section 82.1 is connected to the third selection valve connection 54.3, which in turn is pneumatically connected to the control connection 52.4 of the relay valve 52.
- the relay valve 52 for modulating the parking brake pressure pF at the third main valve connection 52.3 can be actuated by the actuation of the control connection 52.4.
- the selection valve unit 54 can be used to connect a further, alternative compressed air source to the control connection 52.4 for the purpose of actuating the relay valve 52.
- the additional brake pressure can in particular be a manually controlled pressure which is used to manually release the spring-loaded brake cylinders after the utility vehicle 1 has been parked, for example after the emergency stop signal SN has been received.
- a first vent line section 84.1 of a vent line 84 is connected to a second bistable valve connection 72.2 of the bistable valve 72.
- the third bistable valve connection 72.3 is pneumatically connected to the second bistable valve connection 72.2.
- the third control line section 82.3 of the control line 82 is therefore connected to the first venting line section
- the first ventilation line section 84.1 is followed by a second ventilation line section 84.2, which in turn is connected to a ventilation connection 23 of the parking brake module 22.
- a third vent line section 84.3 extends from a first flap valve connection
- the spring-loaded brake cylinders 43a, 43b are pressurized and thus released by modulating a control pressure pS at the control port 52.4 of the relay valve, by means of which at least one spring-loaded brake cylinder 43a, 43b is pressurized to release the parking brake.
- the holding valve 76 is first switched to the release position 76b by providing a signal S1 from the electronic parking brake unit 18.
- the bistable valve 72 is then switched to the ventilation position 72a (not shown in FIG. 2), so that the parking brake pressure pF at the spring-loaded connection 46 is controlled. This takes place in that pressure from supply port 49 via the fourth control line section 82.4, the bistable valve 72, the third control line section 82.3, the open holding valve 76, the second control line section 82.2 and the first control line section 82.1 as control pressure pS at the control port 52.4 of the relay valve 52 provided.
- the holding valve 76 can first be de-energized again in order to lock in the modulated control pressure pS and to have the parking brake pressure pF modulated independently of the switching position of the bistable valve 72 . If the bistable valve 72 is now switched back to the venting position 72b, in which the second bistable valve port 72.2 is connected to the vent 23, the control pressure pS can be vented by de-energizing the holding valve 76 and, as a result, the spring-actuated port 46 can also be vented. A "fail-safe" design can be provided for this case.
- This arrangement of the pilot control unit 70 is understood as a monostable transfer of the bistable-designed pilot control unit 70 .
- the holding valve 76 can simply be omitted. If the parking brake valve unit 20 is to be designed to be completely monostable, the holding valve 76 can also be omitted and the bistable valve 72 is open to replace a conventional 3/2-way valve, which is biased into the vent position 72b.
- the additional brake pressure connection 41 can also be omitted, as can the shuttle valve 54.
- the parking brake valve unit 20 can also be designed without a relay valve 52 .
- the bistable valve 72 or a corresponding monostable 3/2-way valve would be connected directly to the supply port 49, the vent port 23 and the spring-actuated port 46 in order to connect these alternately to the supply port 49 or the vent port 23.
- FIG. 3 now illustrates an overview. The individual elements are shown only as blocks.
- a secondary service brake system 100 is also provided in the exemplary embodiment shown here (FIG. 3).
- the secondary service brake system 100 uses the same compressed air supplies 29, 31, 42 as the primary service brake system 10 and also controls the same service brake actuators 16a-16d.
- the secondary service braking system can be supplied with a voltage source by a further voltage source that is independent of the voltage source 48 . Provision can also be made for the secondary service brake system 100 to access other additional compressed air supplies, not shown here in FIG. 1, or to be fed exclusively from the third compressed air supply 42 .
- the secondary service brake system 102 is connected between the primary service brake system 10 and the parking brake system 12 . If from an emergency stop unit 104, which is exemplary for the emergency stop switch 34, the wireless emergency stop signal receiver 38 or another unit that can provide the emergency stop signal SN, the emergency stop signal SN on all three systems, the primary service brake system 10, the secondary service brake system 100 and the parking brake system 12 ready. It can also be provided that the emergency stop unit 104 only provides the emergency stop signal SN to one of these systems and the systems 10, 12, 100 communicate with one another in order to provide the emergency stop signal SN to all three systems.
- an emergency stop unit 104 which is exemplary for the emergency stop switch 34, the wireless emergency stop signal receiver 38 or another unit that can provide the emergency stop signal SN, the emergency stop signal SN on all three systems, the primary service brake system 10, the secondary service brake system 100 and the parking brake system 12 ready. It can also be provided that the emergency stop unit 104 only provides the emergency stop signal SN to one of these systems and the systems 10, 12, 100 communicate with one another in order to provide
- the primary service brake system 10 is also connected to the secondary service brake system 100 and provides this with a primary health status SH 1 and a primary stability status SB.
- the secondary service brake system 100 can use this to determine whether the primary service brake system 10 is able to implement the emergency stop signal SN and to brake the commercial vehicle 1 . If so, the secondary service braking system 100 will not intervene. In the event that the secondary service brake system 100 determines that the primary service brake system 10 is not able to implement the emergency stop signal, the secondary service brake system 100 converts the emergency stop signal and brakes the commercial vehicle 1 accordingly.
- the parking brake system 12 intervenes and actuates the parking brake actuators 42a, 42b. Even if an emergency stop time TS (see FIG. 3) is exceeded, the parking brake system 12 actuates the parking brake actuators 42a, 42b.
- the parking brake system 12 receives a secondary stability status SB2 and a secondary health status SH2 from the secondary service brake system 100 and determines based thereon whether the secondary service brake system is capable of implementing the emergency stop signal SN. If this is not the case, the parking brake system 12 can also implement the braking of the commercial vehicle 1 in response to the receipt of the emergency stop signal SN, preferably braking in stages, in order to carry out a “stop-in-lane” maneuver. As soon as standstill is reached, the parking brake system 12 actuates the parking brake actuators 42a, 42b fully in order to secure the commercial vehicle 1 when stationary. The parking brake system 12 also receives a speed VF of the commercial vehicle 1 and a coefficient of friction FE, which can correspond to an expected coefficient of friction.
- the vehicle speed VF is preferably the vehicle speed at the time the emergency stop signal SN was received.
- the parking brake system 12 can determine whether the commercial vehicle 1 is stationary and/or has fallen below the predetermined speed limit value VS.
- the parking brake system 12 can also bring about graduated braking of the commercial vehicle 1 based on these parameters.
- the predetermined speed limit value VS and the predetermined emergency stop time TN are stored in an internal memory of the parking brake system 12 or are determined by it.
