Abstract

An electronic device is provided, with a corresponding method, the electronic device includes: a display; a memory; a wireless communication circuit supporting a Wi-Fi Direct protocol; and a processor operatively connected to the display, the memory, and the wireless communication circuit, wherein the processor is configured to: perform wireless communication with an external electronic device based on a first channel attribute, via the wireless communication circuitry, the first channel attribute including at least one of a frequency band or a bandwidth; detect that an event associated with power save occurs; in response to detection of the event associated with power save, transmit a first request message requesting to change the first channel attribute to a second channel attribute, at least a portion of which differs from the first channel attribute, to the external electronic device via the wireless communication circuitry; receive a first response message from the external electronic device via the wireless communication circuitry; and in response to the first response, perform the wireless communication with the external electronic device based on the second channel attribute, wherein wireless communication based on the frequency band or the bandwidth included in the second channel attribute consumes power less than power consumed by wireless communication based on the frequency band or the bandwidth included in the first channel attribute.
