Definitions
- the invention relates to the field of insulating glazing, in particular double or triple, or even quadruple, with improved impact resistance properties, called insulating safety glazing.
- Insulating glazing conventionally consists of an assembly of several sheets of glass spaced from each other using, on their periphery, a spacer defining a cavity filled with air or gas. These glazings are typically known by the acronym IGU.
- insulating safety glazing is made by replacing one of the glass sheets of the IGU with a laminated one.
- the insulating safety glazing then comprises an additional sheet of glass, which considerably weighs down the insulating glazing (typically +50% for double glazing).
- a specific cutting machine is required to cut the puff pastry.
- US 2003/0061783 A1 discloses a method of mounting, in the frame of a window, insulating glazing with impact resistance property.
- a security film is laminated on one or both sheets of glass previously cut to the final dimensions of the glazing.
- the film is applied beyond the edges of the glass sheet and is then cut flush with the edges of the glass sheet.
- the double glazing is then fitted in the traditional way.
- the security film is additionally trimmed to leave a free edge on the periphery of the glass sheet.
- This edge-cutting causes a loss of material, a lengthy process and a risk of fouling of the edge-cutting device.
- the inventors have discovered a more economical method of making insulating glazing with a safety film. The claimed method causes less loss of plastic material. This method is also much faster for the IGU manufacturer.
- the present invention relates to a method for manufacturing insulating glazing comprising at least two sheets of glass spaced apart at their periphery using a spacer and at least one sealing gasket, delimiting a cavity filled with air or of gas, characterized by the following steps: a) deposition of a security film on a glass sheet of large dimensions, typically one dimension of which has the width of a ribbon of float; b) cutting all the glass and the safety film to the dimensions of the glazing using a single machine, in particular a float glass cutting machine and preferably without significant modification of the machine; c) assembly of the insulating glazing in the traditional manner with the safety film flush with the edge of the glazing.
- the security film adheres to at least one of the glass sheets using an adhesive of the “pressure-sensitive-adhesive” (PSA) type.
- PSA pressure-sensitive-adhesive
- Step b) of cutting is generally carried out by marking/scratching the glass using a cutting wheel and then breaking the glass.
- the wheel is, in particular, applied to the face of the glass coated with the security film.
- the breaking of the glass on which the film is deposited, after passage of the cutting wheel, can be carried out in the same way as a glass without film.
- a low emissive layer (low E) can be applied to any one of the faces of the glass or of the film or in one of the sub-layers of the film.
- a solar control layer can be applied to any of the faces of the glass or of the film or in one of the sub-layers of the film.
- the safety film is inside the double glazing, that is to say in contact with the cavity containing air or gas.
- the safety film rests on the glass sheet which is in contact with the exterior of the building in which the insulating glazing is mounted (side 2).
- the present invention also relates to a sheet of glass, one of the dimensions of which is the width of a float, comprising a security film.
- the present invention relates to a sheet of glass, one of the dimensions of which is the width of a float, comprising a security film comprising comprises at least one ply of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and at least one ply of polyurethane thermoplastic (TPU).
- a security film comprising comprises at least one ply of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and at least one ply of polyurethane thermoplastic (TPU).
- the present invention therefore provides that the step of applying the security film be carried out in the float glass production factories, or in the factories receiving the float glass trays as raw material, trays whose dimensions are generally 6 m by 3.2 m approximately. These large size filmed glass sheets can then be sold to the insulating glazing manufacturer who will himself cut the filmed glass to the final dimensions of the insulating glazing.
- the object of the invention therefore extends to the sheet of glass as described above, which is capable of being cut to the final dimensions of an insulating glazing and of being used in the manufacturing process according to the invention. .
- the object of the invention extends to the glass sheet obtained according to step a) as described above and able to be used according to steps b) and c) as described above. .

Description
Description
Titre : PROCEDE DE FABRICATION D'UN VITRAGE ISOLANT
