Abstract
Description
- The invention relates to a lift-slide door comprising:
- a frame consisting of a sill, a head jamb and two side jambs, which frame is placed in a wall opening during use and is fixed to the wall, whereby the sill comprises a full-length front part sloping forwards and a full-length rear part on which a full-length rail is located,
- a fixed wing part located above the front part of the sill closing part of the opening delimited by the frame and fixed to the frame,
- a sliding wing part located above the rear part of the sill and slidable in the frame between a closed position next to the fixed wing part in which the sliding wing part closes another part of the opening delimited by the frame, and an open position in which the sliding wing part is behind the fixed wing part and the other part of the opening delimited by the frame is open,
- wheels which are present in a recess in the underside of the sliding wing part and which are movable on the rail, and
- a lifting mechanism that can raise and lower the sliding wing part relative to the wheels.
- Such a lift-slide door is generally known. Once the known lift-slide door has been placed in a wall opening and has been fixed to the wall, it is then very difficult to dismantle the lift-slide door. Usually this can only be done in a destructive way. In the existing lift-slide doors, all kinds of parts such as guide rail and sealing strips in the frame and on the fixed leaf and on the threshold must be mounted or disassembled before assembly or disassembly can be done with the fixed part. The known lift-slide doors must also be sealed in various places (all sorts of loose profiles and transitions therein) to prevent water penetrating to the inside.
- An object of the invention is to provide a lift-slide door of the type described in the preamble which is simple to assemble and disassemble. To this end, the lift-slide door according to the invention is characterized in that between the fixed wing part and the front part of the sill there is a wedge-shaped wing insert attached to the underside of the fixed wing part and adjacent to one of the side jambs, the wedge shape being such that the top of the wing insert is horizontal. Because the wing insert is attached to the fixed wing part, the fixed wing is mounted and disassembled in one operation together with the wing insert during assembly and disassembly. This is much more efficient than first attaching the wing insert to the sill and then placing the fixed wing part on the wing insert or first dismantling the fixed wing part and then the wing insert. As a result, there is no need to seal seams and profile transitions, etc. to prevent water penetration to the inside.
- It is possible to work even more efficiently if a wedge-shaped central insert present between the fixed wing part and the front part of the sill is also attached to the underside of the fixed wing part. The same advantage applies to this as for the wing insert. The center insert is adjacent to the opening and is present against the wing insert and the center insert is also wedge-shaped in such a way that the top of the center insert is horizontal.
- Preferably wedge-shaped side inserts are present between the side jambs and the front part of the sill, which are mounted on the sill. During assembly and disassembly, the sill is mounted and disassembled together with the side inserts, which increases efficiency. The wedge shape is preferably such that the top of the side ends is horizontal.
- Gaskets are preferably present between the side jambs and the side inserts to obtain a water and moisture-tight construction.
- In order to be able to drain (rain) water that can seep into the side jambs, channels are preferably present in the side inserts and in the gaskets, such that an open end of the channels communicates with the environment at the front of the sill and another open end of the channels communicates through the hole in the gasket with the space in the side jambs which are hollow.
- In order to also be able to drain the (rain) water that can seep into the frame of the fixed wing part, further channels and further holes are present in the center bar and in the wing insert, via which the space in the hollow frame of the fixed wing communicates with the environment at the front of the sill.
- To prevent a thermal bridge, the wing insert comprises a front part extending over the entire length, as well as a rear part extending over the entire length, the two parts being connected to each other via a bridge piece that conducts heat poorly, and the fixed wing part is present above the front part.
- To make it even easier to assemble and disassemble the fixed wing part with the attached wing insert, the distance from the edge of the head jamb at the bottom and at the front of the head jamb to the edge of the front part of the sill adjacent to the rear part of the sill, is preferably smaller than the distance from said edge of the head jamb to an imaginary line parallel to said edge of the sill on the front part of the sill, so that the fixed wing part with the wing insert can be removed from the frame by rotating them around the said edge of the head jamb.
- In order to be able to place the lift-slide door in the rear wall of a house without external access to the rear without having to use a crane, the sill, the head jamb and the two side jambs of the frame are detachable from each other and can then be attached again to each other.
- The invention will be explained in more detail below on the basis of an exemplary embodiment of the lift-slide door according to the invention shown in the drawings. Hereby:
-
Figure 1 shows an embodiment of the lift-slide door seen from the outside; -
Figure 2 is an enlargement of the lower part of a section of a lift-slide door along line A-A inFigure 1 ; -
Figure 3 shows the sill with wing insert and the channeled central and side inserts and gaskets; -
Figure 4 shows the individual sill in perspective; -
Figure 5 shows the wing insert in cross-section; and -
Figure 6 shows a cross-section of a lift-slide door along line A-A infigure 1 . -
Figure 1 shows an embodiment of the lift-slide door according to the invention as seen from the outside. The lift-slide door 1 has aframe 3 with inside afixed wing part 13 and aslidable wing part 17. Thefixed wing part 13 is attached to theframe 3. Theframe 3 is composed of asill 5, ahead jamb 7 and twoside jambs 9. Thesill 5 has afront part 5a extending over its entire length and sloping towards the front, and a rear part extending over itsentire length 5b. Thefixed wing part 13 is located above thefront part 5a of thesill 5 and closes off part of the opening 15 defined by theframe 3. Thesliding wing part 17 is located above therear part 5b of thesill 5 and is slidable in theframe 3 between a closed position (the position shown inFigure 1 ) adjacent to thefixed wing part 13 in which thesliding wing part 17 closes another part of theopening 15 bounded by the frame, and an open position in which theslidable wing part 17 is present behind thefixed wing part 13 and leaves the other part of theopening 15 bounded by theframe 3 open. -
Figure 2 shows a lower part of the lift-slide door in cross-section. Between thefixed wing part 13 and thesloping front part 5a of thesill 5 there is a wedge-shaped wing insert 23 which is attached to the underside of thefixed wing part 13. This wing insert 23 adjoins one of theside jambs 9. The wedge shape of thewing insert 23 is such that the top of thewing insert 23 is horizontal. In therear part 5b of the sill there is arail 11 which extends over the entire length of the sill. In a recess in the underside of theslidable wing part 17,wheels 19 are present, which can move over therail 11. In thesliding wing part 17 there is a generally known lifting mechanism (not shown) which can lift and lower thesliding wing part 17 relative to thewheels 19. This lifting mechanism can be operated by a handle 21 (seefigure 1 ). - Between the
side jambs 9 and thefront part 5a of thesill 5, wedge-shaped side inserts 25 are present, seefigure 1 . Theseside inserts 25 are mounted on thesill 5. Between thefixed wing part 13 and thefront part 5a of thesill 5, a wedge-shapedcentral insert 27 is present. Thiscentral insert 27 is attached to the underside of thefixed wing part 13. Thecenter insert 27 is adjacent to the part of the opening 15 where thesliding wing part 17 is present in the closed position and is present against thewing insert 23. The wedge shape is such that the tops of the side inserts 25 and of thecenter insert 27 extend horizontally.Gaskets 29 are present between theside jambs 9 and the side inserts 25. -
Figure 3 shows thesill 5 withwing insert 23 and the central andside inserts gaskets 29 in an exploded view.Channels 31 are present in theside inserts 25 andholes 32 are present in thegaskets 29 for draining rainwater seeping into the side inserts. To this end, anopen end 31a of the channels communicates with the environment at the front of thesill 5 and anotheropen end 31b of the channels communicates throughholes 32 in thegasket 29 with the space in theconcave side jambs 9. In order to also be able to drain the rainwater that can seep into the frame of the fixed wing part, further channels 33 andfurther holes 34 are present in thecentral insert 27 and in thewing insert 23, via which the space in the hollow frame of the fixedwing part 13 is connected to the environment at the front of thesill 5. - For the purpose of illustration, the
sill 5 and thewing insert 23 are shown separately inFigures 4 and 5 . Thewing insert 23 has a full-length front portion 23a and a full-lengthrear portion 23b. Bothparts conductive bridge piece 24, which prevents thewing insert piece 23 from forming a thermal bridge. To prevent a thermal bridge, the fixedwing part 13 is furthermore present above thefront part 23a of the wing insert, so that this part is shielded. -
Figure 6 shows a cross-section of a lift-slide door along line A-A infigure 1 . In order to be able to easily fit the fixedwing part 13 with the attachedwing insert 23 into theframe 3, thedistance 35 from theedge 7a of thehead jamb 7 at the bottom and at the front of the head jamb to theedge 5c of thefront part 5a of thesill 5 adjacent to therear part 5b of thesill 5 is smaller than thedistance 37 from saidedge 7a ofhead jamb 7 to an imaginary line parallel to saidedge 5c ofsill 5 on thefront part 5a of thesill 5. As a result, the fixedwing part 13 with thewing insert 23 attached thereto can be turned (arrow 39) about saidedge 7a of thehead jamb 7 into and out of theframe 3. - Although the present invention is elucidated above on the basis of the given drawings, it should be noted that this invention is not limited whatsoever to the embodiments shown in the drawings. The invention also extends to all embodiments deviating from the embodiments shown in the drawings within the scope of the invention defined by the appended claims.
