Description

Bicycle antenna assembly
The present invention relates to a bicycle antenna assembly for communication between a bicycle control unit of a bicycle with a bicycle frame comprising at least a transceiver that is arranged in the bicycle frame, such as a Bluetooth module and/or a mobile communication module that is arranged for communication with a mobile network (one or more of any of 2G-5G), and at least an external communication device, such as a mobile network transmission tower and/or a communication device, such as a smartphone, comprising a Bluetooth module.
Bicycles that communicate with a radio connection are known. With this, use is for example made of a radio con nection by means of a Bluetooth transceiver with a smartphone or similar, or by means of a GSM transceiver with a mobile network. The present inventor has been faced with the problem of conflicting possibilities between a wish to the range the bicycle control unit and the trans ceiver on the inside of a frame tube of the bicycle frame, and on the other hand a wish to arrange the antenna outside of the frame for the purpose of signaling towards the mo bile network or the smartphone.
In order to provide a solution to such a problem of conflicting possibilities, the present invention provides a bicycle antenna assembly for communication between a bicy cle control unit of a bicycle with a bicycle frame compris ing at least a transceiver that is arranged in the bicycle frame, such as a Bluetooth module and/or a mobile communi cation module that is arranged for communication with a mo bile network (one or more of any of Tucci-5G), and at least an external communication device, such as a mobile network transmission tower and/or a communication device, such as a smartphone, comprising a Bluetooth module, the bicycle an tenna assembly comprising:
- antenna connection means functionally connected to or connectable to the at least one transceiver,
- an antenna module, such as suitable for one or more of Bluetooth communication and communication with the mo bile network,
- an antenna coupling between the antenna connection means and the antenna module, wherein:
- the antenna module is arranged or arrangeable ex ternally or outwardly directed relative to a tube element of the bicycle frame.
By means of such a device, the present invention pro vides as advantage that a desirable antenna signal is real izable from the transceiver, such as by means of Bluetooth or a mobile network signal, to the aim for mobile communi cation device and/or aim for mobile network.
According to a first preferred embodiment, of the bi cycle antenna assembly, the antenna module is arranged out side of a cassette or inner tube holding the bicycle con trol unit. A per se known implementation of arranging of the bicycle control unit in a cassette or inner tube is here with advantageously combined with the bicycle antenna assembly according to the present invention. By arrangement of the antenna module outside of the cassette or inner tube, a powerful communication signal is realizable between the transceiver and the aim for mobile communication device and/or aim for mobile network. In itself, it is here with provided that such an arrangement is possible within a re cess in the outer surfaces of the cassette or inner tube, which arrangement in itself allows move ability of the cas sette or inner tube relative to a respective tube elements.
Further preferably, the antenna module is arrangeable or arranged in a through opening of the respective tube el ement and thereby is arranged within the contour of the re spective tube element or material forming the tube element. This further improves the signal quality. With this, it is further provided that move ability or shift ability of the cassette or inner tube in the tube element may be realized when the antenna module is detached from the cassette or inner tube.
Further preferably, the antenna module is placeable against the outside of the bicycle control unit or a cas sette or inner tube thereof, preferably while applying a spacer that is arranged therebetween. An advantage thereof is an easy connection of the antenna module with the trans ceiver. Furthermore, this provides the possibility that the antenna module is arrangeable in the said through opening after placement of the cassette or inner tube in the tube element in such a manner that the fastening means for fas tening of the antenna module are present at the location of the through opening. It is herewith of further advantage when the antenna module is mountable to the bicycle control unit, a cassette or inner tube thereof after the same is arranged in the respective tube element of the bicycle frame. Furthermore, further preferably the antenna module or a part thereof prevents sliding out thereof out of the respective tube element of the fastening at the bicycle control unit, cassette or inner tube thereof.
According to a further preferred embodiment according to the present invention, the antenna coupling comprises an inductive coupling between the antenna connection means and the antenna module. With this, a robust coupling between the transceiver and the antenna module is realized. The an tenna module is straightforwardly removable with applica tion of such an inductive coupling because no physical con- nection requires to be broken or after remounting requires to be realized.
Further preferably, induction contact or poles of the antenna connection means provides an antenna function in itself with a weaker signal when the antenna module is omitted than with the antenna module. With this, the func tionality of the transceiver remains usable, albeit with a lower quality. It is of further advantage that the func tionality is not fully in the red removing of the antenna module or damaging thereof.
