- a transceiver that is arranged in the bicycle frame
- a transceiver that is arranged in the bicycle frame
- a mobile communication module that is arranged for communication with a mobile network (one or more of any of 2G-5G)
- a mobile network one or more of any of 2G-5G
- an external communication device such as a mobile network transmission tower and/or a communication device, such as a smartphone, comprising a Bluetooth module.
- Bicycles that communicate with a radio connection are known. With this, use is for example made of a radio con nection by means of a Bluetooth transceiver with a smartphone or similar, or by means of a GSM transceiver with a mobile network.
- the present inventor has been faced with the problem of conflicting possibilities between a wish to the range the bicycle control unit and the trans DCver on the inside of a frame tube of the bicycle frame, and on the other hand a wish to arrange the antenna outside of the frame for the purpose of signaling towards the mo bile network or the smartphone.
- the present invention provides a bicycle antenna assembly for communication between a bicy cle control unit of a bicycle with a bicycle frame comprising at least a transceiver that is arranged in the bicycle frame, such as a Bluetooth module and/or a mobile communi cation module that is arranged for communication with a mo bile network (one or more of any of Tucci-5G), and at least an external communication device, such as a mobile network transmission tower and/or a communication device, such as a smartphone, comprising a Bluetooth module, the bicycle an tenna assembly comprising:
- - antenna connection means functionally connected to or connectable to the at least one transceiver
- an antenna module such as suitable for one or more of Bluetooth communication and communication with the mo bile network
- the antenna module is arranged or arrangeable ex ternally or outwardly directed relative to a tube element of the bicycle frame.
- the present invention pro vides as advantage that a desirable antenna signal is real izable from the transceiver, such as by means of Bluetooth or a mobile network signal, to the aim for mobile communi cation device and/or aim for mobile network.
- the antenna module is arranged out side of a cassette or inner tube holding the bicycle con trol unit.
- a per se known implementation of arranging of the bicycle control unit in a cassette or inner tube is here with advantageously combined with the bicycle antenna assembly according to the present invention.
- a powerful communication signal is realizable between the transceiver and the aim for mobile communication device and/or aim for mobile network.
- it is here with provided that such an arrangement is possible within a re cess in the outer surfaces of the cassette or inner tube, which arrangement in itself allows move ability of the cas sette or inner tube relative to a respective tube elements.
- the antenna module is arrangeable or arranged in a through opening of the respective tube el ement and thereby is arranged within the contour of the re spective tube element or material forming the tube element. This further improves the signal quality. With this, it is further provided that move ability or shift ability of the cassette or inner tube in the tube element may be realized when the antenna module is detached from the cassette or inner tube.
- the antenna module is placeable against the outside of the bicycle control unit or a cas sette or inner tube thereof, preferably while applying a spacer that is arranged therebetween.
- An advantage thereof is an easy connection of the antenna module with the trans DCver. Furthermore, this provides the possibility that the antenna module is arrangeable in the said through opening after placement of the cassette or inner tube in the tube element in such a manner that the fastening means for fas tening of the antenna module are present at the location of the through opening. It is herewith of further advantage when the antenna module is mountable to the bicycle control unit, a cassette or inner tube thereof after the same is arranged in the respective tube element of the bicycle frame. Furthermore, further preferably the antenna module or a part thereof prevents sliding out thereof out of the respective tube element of the fastening at the bicycle control unit, cassette or inner tube thereof.
- the antenna coupling comprises an inductive coupling between the antenna connection means and the antenna module.
- induction contact or poles of the antenna connection means provides an antenna function in itself with a weaker signal when the antenna module is omitted than with the antenna module.
- the func tionality of the transceiver remains usable, albeit with a lower quality. It is of further advantage that the func tionality is not fully in the red removing of the antenna module or damaging thereof.
- antenna module or a second antenna elements thereof is suitable for mobile network signaling, such as signaling based on any standard according to 2G-5G.
- bicycle con trol unit is arranged for controlling of or is functional in communication with at least one bicycle function module, such as a drive motor control, dear shift unit, such as a hub gear, bicycle lock assembly, control button such as a bell button and/or power button.
- a bicycle function module such as a drive motor control, dear shift unit, such as a hub gear, bicycle lock assembly, control button such as a bell button and/or power button.
- the antenna module is arranged at the handlebar, preferably at the out side of the left handlebar bend or right handlebar bend, further preferably within or inside the material of a han dle, wherein the antenna connection means extend from the transceiver to the antenna module.
- the antenna connection means are embodied as a wire connection that preferably extends through the tube and a respective handlebar bend and/or wherein the antenna cou pling is embodied as a physical or inductive coupling.
- the antenna module is arranged in the saddle, wherein the antenna con nection means are embodied as a wire connection preferably extending through the settle tube and/or saddle pin.
- the antenna connection means comprises at least one element, such as a connector pin, of a cassette contact for connecting a cas sette with the bicycle control unit arranged therein and the at least one transceiver with all the subsystems of the bicycle.
- Fig. 1 relates to a perspective view of a first pre ferred embodiment according to the present invention with therein schematically represented internal elements.
- Fig. 2 relates to an exploded view of the preferred embodiment according to Fig. 1.
- Fig. 3 relates to a schematic perspective view of an arrangement of elements according to a further preferred embodiment at the location of a bicycle handlebar.
- a first preferred embodiment (Fig. 1) relates to a bicycle antenna assembly 1.
- the bicycle antenna assembly is an assembly that pro vides an antenna connection from a transceiver of a bicycle control unit or main control unit of a bicycle.
- the bicycle provides to communication options, the one via Bluetooth with a Bluetooth device, such as a smart phone, tablet or laptop, and the other via a mobile network such as a mobile data network according to one of the standards 2G-5G of mo bile data networks.
- the bicycle uses the mobile data net works for example location determining and for communica tion with a server for the purpose of retrieving a stolen bicycle.
- This cassette 6 houses the main control unit, the transceiver, motor con trol unit and is to this end connected with a number of subsystems of the bicycle.
- an antenna module 2 for providing of the an tenna connection is directed outwardly out of the top tube.
- the opening 16 provides an option for accurately directing of the antenna module.
- the antenna module generally is a printed circuit board with a conductive pattern 14 arranged thereon providing the antenna function for mobile communi cation and Bluetooth communication.
- the induction contacts provide a substantially con tactless antenna coupling between the transceiver and the antenna connection means that extent between the transceiv er and the induction contacts. Because of this, the antenna module is arranged outside of the cassette and with that, a good radio connection is realizable. Further preferably, the antenna module is arranged in the opening of the bottom tube at the location of wall thickness of the bottom tube. Alternatively, the antenna module is even arrangeable out side of the volume of the bottom tube by means of a spacer. In such case, the cover unit 3 will extend out of the top tube or the bottom side thereof.
- the anten na module 2 (Fig. 3) is arrangeable within the material of a handle 22 of the handlebar of the bicycle.
- a wire connection 21 is provided that extends from the anten na module 2 through the end of the handlebar bend through the handlebar bend, subsequently through the handlebar bend to the head tube and from the head tube guided inwardly in to the top tube where the cassette 6 is arranged. There, connection is made with the transceiver.
- the option is provided to provide a wire connection from the cassette in the top tube towards the saddle (not shown) wherein the antenna module is ar rangeable in or at the saddle.
