Abstract
Description
- The invention relates to a construction board comprising:
- a plate-like core of hard foam, such as extruded or expanded polystyrene foam, which plate-like core has two parallel main surfaces and a peripheral surface extending between the main surfaces;
- a layer of cement mortar arranged on at least one main surface of the core.
- Such construction boards are frequently used nowadays. Both main surfaces are usually provided with a layer of cement mortar. The construction board can hereby be adhered to a ground surface with a suitable adhesive. The hard foam core provides for insulation, while the other main surface provides a very smooth surface. If this main surface is also provided with a layer of cement mortar, tiles can for instance be arranged thereon in simple manner.
- These construction boards are usually adhered to the ground surface with an adhesive, such as an MS polymer adhesive. A skilled person will use a large quantity of adhesive to ensure that the construction board is secured firmly to the ground surface.
- In the context of circular construction it is however desirable that the construction boards can also be released again after the lifespan of a building. Because a skilled person usually uses a large quantity of adhesive to glue down the construction boards, this is however no longer possible.
- It is therefore an object of the invention to reduce or even prevent the above stated drawbacks.
- This object is achieved according to the invention with a construction board according to the preamble, which is characterized by a cover layer arranged on the layer of cement mortar, which cover layer is provided with a number of holes arranged at mutual distances.
- By arranging a cover layer with a number of holes therein a skilled person can still use a large quantity of adhesive when securing the construction board. The adhesive will however adhere only via the holes to the cement layer lying thereunder, whereby a controlled adhesion area is obtained. The size of the holes can be adapted, in combination with the adhesive to be used, to the desired adhesive force.
- In addition, the holes arranged at mutual distances ensure that the adhesive force is distributed over the surface area of the construction board. The adhesive force of the adhesive in a single hole can hereby be small, while the combined adhesive force of all the holes provides more than enough sturdiness for the construction board. This also makes it possible to release the construction board from a ground surface again by breaking the adhesive connections per hole. This is because breaking a single adhesive connection at a time will require little force. It is thus possible hereby to pull the construction board loose from an edge or corner because the adhesive connections will break away one by one.
- In a preferred embodiment of the construction board according to the invention the cover layer is at least one strip of self-adhesive tape, wherein the at least one strip is arranged with the self-adhesive side on the cover layer and wherein the holes are arranged in longitudinal direction of the strip.
- With the self-adhesive tape an existing construction board can be adapted in simple manner into a construction board according to the invention. By arranging one or more strips of tape on a main surface of an existing construction board, the construction board according to the invention is formed. This can even be performed at the construction site by the skilled person who, after arranging the self-adhesive tape, can apply a quantity of adhesive over the holes and partially to the self-adhesive tape. Due to the cover layer, in this case the self-adhesive tape, the excess of adhesive will be unable to enter into a connection with the layer of cement mortar of the construction board. A defined adhesion area is thus provided by the holes in the self-adhesive tape.
- In a further embodiment of the construction board according to the invention a quantity of adhesive is applied over the holes arranged in the cover layer. It will be apparent that the quantity of adhesive adheres to the layer of cement mortar only via the holes. This is because a predetermined adhesive force for the construction board is hereby obtained. If the construction board is also adhered to a ground surface outside the holes in the cover layer, the force required for releasing the construction board is no longer predefined.
- The quantity of adhesive is preferably an MS polymer adhesive.
- The invention further relates to a combination of a construction board according to the invention with a quantity of adhesive applied over the holes arranged in the cover layer, and a ground surface, such as a wall or a floor, wherein the construction board lies with the side provided with the cover layer against the ground surface, and wherein the quantity of adhesive provides for an adhesion between the layer of cement mortar and the ground surface.
- Finally, the invention relates to a method for removing a construction board from a ground surface according to the combination according to the invention, which method comprises the step of exerting a brief tensile force along an edge, preferably in a corner, of the construction board, whereby the adhesive connection via at least one hole in the cover layer is broken.
- A construction board has some flexibility, particularly owing to the hard foam core, and can thereby be bent slightly. When such a construction board according to the invention is adhered to a ground surface, such as a wall, it can be released again by exerting a brief tensile force from an edge of the construction board. A person can pull loose at least one of the adhesive connections with a short tug in that the construction board will bend slightly during the short tug and a large part of this tensile force will be exerted on a relevant adhesive connection.
- These and other features are further elucidated with reference to the accompanying drawings.
-
Figure 1 is a schematic perspective view of an embodiment of a construction board according to the invention. -
Figure 2 is a cross-sectional view of the construction board according tofigure 1 with a quantity of adhesive. -
Figure 3 is a cross-sectional view of a combination of the construction board according tofigure 2 arranged against a ground surface. -
Figure 4 is a cross-sectional view of the combination according tofigure 3 , wherein the construction board has been released from the ground surface. -
Figure 1 shows an embodiment of aconstruction board 1 according to the invention. Theconstruction board 1 has a plate-like core 2 of hard foam with two parallel main surfaces, on each of which is arranged a layer of 3, 4. This layer ofcement mortar 3, 4 can optionally be reinforced with a glass fibre reinforcement, as is common in prior art construction boards.cement mortar - Arranged on the layer of
cement mortar 3 is a cover layer from two 5, 6 of self-adhesive tape. The twostrips 5, 6 are provided withstrips holes 7 which are arranged in longitudinal direction of the 5, 6.strips -
Figure 2 shows a cross-section of theconstruction board 1 according tofigure 1 . A quantity of adhesive 8 is here applied over ahole 7. This quantity ofadhesive 8 covers thehole 7 and touches the edges of therelevant hole 7. In this way eachhole 7 is covered by a quantity of adhesive 8. - In
figure 3 construction board 1 is arranged against aground surface 9. The quantity of adhesive 8 of eachhole 7 will here adhere to theground surface 9 and spread over cover layer 5 a little more. The contact surface with thecement mortar layer 3 ofconstruction board 1 will however remain constant because the dimensions of thehole 7 instrip 5 do not change. - When removing
construction board 1 fromground surface 9, oneadhesive connection 8 over ahole 7 can be pulled loose at a time starting from an edge ofconstruction board 1, in each case by means of a briefly exerted tensile force. It is likely here that a part of thecement mortar layer 3 will also break loose fromconstruction board 1 here. Because the dimensions of thehole 7 incover layer 5 are fixed, the tensile force required to pull loose theadhesive connection 8 is also defined, and all this can be optimized such that a skilled person can pull theconstruction board 1 loose again in simple manner during dismantling, whileconstruction board 1 is adhered sufficiently firmly toground surface 9.
