Abstract

The ventilated mosquito screen for yachts, caravans and campervans consists of a base plate (1) that is connected to the frame (6) of an existing window (also called porthole) of the yacht, caravan or campervan. The base plate contains a pocket (2) wherein a mosquito screen is placed. On the base plate brackets (4) are mounted, that host a ventilator (3). The rotating part of the ventilator is placed in front of the mosquito screen to generate airflow into or out of the cabin of the yacht, caravan or campervan when turned on. The base plate is placed inside the existing window (porthole) frame by means of connectors (5)

Description

  • The present invention relates to mosquito screens, and more specifically to mosquito screens used in portholes of yachts or windows in campervans and caravans.
  • A conventional mosquito screen for yachts, caravans and campervans is a passive product that is placed in portholes or windows to serve the purpose of maintaining the inside room free from mosquitos or other insects that may be outside the vehicle. Users of yachts, caravans and campervans are typically in need of good ventilation in the cabins in warm or damp areas, but when installed, especially in times of low wind, conventional mosquito screens further limit airflows into or out of the cabin where it is placed.
  • The objective of the present invention is to integrate forced ventilation into the mosquito screen, by which the cabin behind the mosquito screen can be actively ventilated, by directing an airflow from outside into the cabin, or from inside the cabin to the outside.
  • In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a ventilated mosquito screen that comprises of a base plate with a pocket. The pocket contains a mosquito net. Onto the base plate, a ventilator is mounted by means of brackets or directly screwed onto the base plate in front of the mosquito screen. By changing placement or circulating direction of the ventilator, the airflow can be forced in two directions through the mosquito net, into the cabin or out of the cabin. On the back side of the baseplate, connectors are mounted that will hold the ventilated mosquito screen into place when placed into the window or porthole frame of the yacht, caravan or campervan.

Claims (1)

  1. A ventilated mosquito screen comprising of:
    A Base plate (1) that functions as a frame for the mosquito net and mounting base for a ventilator (4)
    A Pocket with mosquito-net inside (2) that allows for air to come in or move out, while keeping insects on the outside of the cabin
    A Ventilator (3) that forces are to one side or the other of the mosquito net (2)
    Brackets (4) mounted upon the base plate (1) that function to hold the ventilator (4) into place in front of the mosquito net (2)
    Connectors for window frame (5) that keeps the base plate (1) connected to the window (or porthole) frame it fits into.
