- individual pieces of slate are positioned next to a previously applied tile and pressed onto the exposed rain diverting device of the previously applied tile and onto the hook and loop fastener on an upper surface of the underlying sheet material, which has been previously applied to the roof.
- the rain diverting device releasably adheres the adjacent tiles to one another and assists in adhering them to the underlying sheet material.
- the slate tiles are overlapped by about 5.1 centimeters at the top and bottom.
- the hook and loop fastener tape applied to the bottom of the back face of a piece of slate connects with the hook and loop fastener tape applied across the top of the front face of another slate.
- the adhesive is tacky or set up, the detachable, re-attachable nature of the hook and loop system remains available for changes during installation.
- a traditionally laid slate roof is typically triple overlapped with a 7.6 cm headlap.

A hook and loop fastener tape 54a-c is adhered to the exposed top face of the Z- shaped spring. As noted above, the Z-shaped spring serves to support each tile and to press the hook and loop fastener tape 54a-c on its exposed top face to the hook and loop fastener of the underlying sheet material (not shown).
- the Z-shaped springs 22a-c may also extend vertically along a midline on the back face 52a-c of each tile, just short of the first strips 18a,b,c and the second strips 20a,b,c.

Abstract
L'invention concerne un système et un procédé de couverture plus légère, plus rentable, qui comprend un élément de déflexion de pluie servant à diriger l'eau de pluie et la neige fondue à l'opposé d'un matériau en feuille sous-jacent et d'un platelage de toit. L'invention comprend un matériau en feuille ayant une surface supérieure et une surface inférieure. La surface supérieure comprend l'un parmi un élément de fixation à crochets et un élément de fixation à boucles et la surface inférieure est configurée pour être fixée au platelage de toit. La présente invention comprend en outre une pluralité de tuiles de toiture, chaque tuile ayant des éléments de fixation à crochets et boucles adhérant à une face arrière qui s'étendent le long de la largeur de la tuile au niveau ou à proximité des bords supérieur et inférieur. Chaque élément de déflexion de pluie, qui est un dispositif de type bande ayant une surface constituée d'une pluralité de parties de crochet et une surface opposée constituée d'une pluralité de parties complémentaires des parties de crochet, est positionné entre les, et fixé de manière amovible aux, éléments de fixation à crochets et à boucles situés sur une partie de bord latéral de deux tuiles adjacentes et le matériau en feuille sous-jacent, pour ainsi fixer de manière amovible les tuiles les unes par rapport autres et à la surface supérieure du matériau en feuille sous-jacent. L'utilisation de dispositifs de déflexion de pluie servant à diriger l'eau de pluie et la neige fondue à l'opposé du matériau en feuille sous-jacent et du platelage de toit permet de réaliser une couverture en tuiles à recouvrement unique et donc moins de poids sur le platelage de toit. Il permet également d'utiliser des tuiles plus courtes, ce qui permet une économie de coût du matériau.
