  • State of the Art
  • Stove knobs are used to turn on and off domestic appliances such as gas stoves, ovens, cookers, hob, and stovetops and to adjust the gas setting. These knobs provide both the gas to the stove and the burning of the gas. In addition, the gas level adjustment of the burning stove is made by these knobs.
  • It is of great importance that these knobs provide an aesthetic appearance and mountability in stoves and other domestic appliances where knobs are used. Mountability ensures that the products come out of the product line faster during the production phase and increase the labour efficiency. There are different configurations and designs of the knobs for the aesthetic appearance. These may vary from electronic, touch knobs that increase the costs to knobs that can be concealed in the stove and complicate the production. Even though the developed knobs stand out aesthetically, they bring with certain problems.
  • The cleaning of the stoves is another important issue for the users. Even though the cleaning is generally made with a wet cloth, the cleaning is made with water and the stoves are exposed to contact with water due to their positions. For this reason, the knobs also need to be impermeable. Even though standard sealing components are used for impermeability, a certain amount of water leaks anyway.

    Description of the invention
  • The invention is a knob structure that gives a single piece component feeling aesthetically, enabling the fixing of the knob-boss (3) to the stove surface (5), and preventing the liquid to come from upper and lower parts to pass inside the stove by means of the gasket (4) designed inside the knob-boss (3) and used as a single piece with this knob-boss (3).
  • The knob structure that is the subject of the invention comprises, in general terms, the knob (1) void-free connected with the stove surface (5) and located on the valve (6) enabling the adjustment of the gas, spring (2), knob-boss (3) and gasket (4).
  • Said knob (1), spring (2), knob-boss (3) and gasket (4) are mounted to one another and form the knob structure that is the subject of the invention as shown in Figure-3.
  • The knob (1) enables that the valve (6) connected to is driven by rotating around its own axis with the rotational force and movement applied by the user. The knob (1) is directly connected to the shaft of the valve (6). The knob (1) has a shaft gap (11) therein, not visible to the user and to which the valve (6) shaft is located and fixed. For the knob (1) to be connected directly to the valve (6), there is a pipe structure inside and at the centre of the knob extending up to valve. The shaft gap (11) shown in Figure-2 is in the inner surface of the knob (1) and is the gap inside the pipe form located exactly at its centre. The inner side of this pipe form forms the shaft gap (11). With the pipe form it has, the shaft gap (11) also ensures the centring of the knob structure from a single point. There is another gap remaining on the outer side of this pipe form and also enclosing the pipe form inside the knob (1). This gap is called the knob groove (12) to which the knob-boss (3) and the spring (2) is located. The surface which can also be defined as the base of the body groove (12) remaining right behind the surface of the knob (1) visible to the user is called the spring support base (13). The spring support base (13) ensures the fixing of one end of the spring (2) remaining in the knob groove (12) and the transfer of the spring (2) repelling force to the other end. The pipe form on the knob (1) and the shaft gap (11) connected to it, the knob groove (12) and the spring support base (13) is one piece and forms the knob (1).
  • The spring (2) ensures that the knob-boss (3) is void-free fixed to the stove surface (5). The spring (2) is located to the knob groove (12) and the spring groove (21) on the knob-boss (3). For this, one end of the spring (2) contacts the spring support base (13) and the other to spring groove (31). Said spring (2) ends are the upper and lower contact surfaces of the spring (2) on the vertical axis in rectangular position to the stove surface (5), also shown in Figure-2. Said upper contact surface contacts to the spring support base (13) and the lower contact surface to the spring groove (31). When the knob structure is mounted, the spring (2) is jammed rectangularly to the stove surface (5) and creates a repelling force. This repelling force is applied to the knob (1) by the help of the spring support base (13); and to the knob-boss (3) by the help of the spring groove (31). Since the knob (1) is fixed to the valve (6), repelling force cannot be exerted in the axis vertical to the stove surface (5) and all the force are exerted downwards on the axis rectangular again to the stove surface (5), i.e. to the knob-boss (3). Since the knob-boss (39 can move freely in the knob groove (12) in the position rectangular to the stove surface (5), the force exerted by the spring (2) repels the knob-boss (3) and the gasket (4) inside the knob-boss (3) towards the stove surface (5). With this repelling force, the knob-boss (3) and the gasket (4) is void-free connected to the stove surface (5).
  • The knob-boss (3) is void-free connected to the stove surface (5) with the repelling force the spring (2) exerts. On the knob-boss (3) are spring groove (31) and gasket gap (32) where one end of the spring and the gasket (4) are located, respectively. The spring groove (31), as shown in Figure-1, covers a space from where one surface of the spring (2) can take support and into where the spring (2) can enter. The gasket gap (32) enables the gasket (4) to be invisibly located within the knob-boss (3). The invisibility mentioned here is one that blocks the gasket (4) to be seen by the user and provides an aesthetic view of the knob structure. By this way, the entire gasket (4) remains within the knob-boss (3) and cannot be when viewed from outside. Furthermore, the knob-boss (3) also bears an appropriate gap thereon for the pipe-form protrusion of the knob (1) to be directly fixed to the valve (6).
  • The gasket (4) is located into the gasket gap (32) on the knob-boss (3) and prevents the possible leaks from the knob-boss (3). Furthermore, the gasket (4) also bears an appropriate gap thereon for the pipe-form protrusion of the knob (1) to be directly fixed to the valve (6). Said gap is also on the knob-boss (3). The pipe-form that is an extension to the knob (1) with this gap passes through the gaps located right in the centre of the knob-boss (3) and the gasket (4) and by this way, both the knob structure is centred at one single point and the knob (1) can be connected directly to the valve (6). By being void-free connected to the stove surface (5) with the gasket (4) concealed under the knob-boss (3), the gasket (4) provides maximum impermeability.
  • The knob (1) and the knob-boss (3) give a single piece feeling aesthetically. The knob (1) and the hard plastic made knob-boss (3) seem to be a single piece with it are used actively. By this way, impermeability problem that can be seen in the hard plastic use is solved with the gasket (4) concealed under the knob-boss (3). By means of the spring (2) within the system, fixing the knob-boss (3) to the stove glass is guaranteed. Furthermore, by means of the gasket (4) designed within the knob-boss (3) and is used as a single piece with it, passage of liquid that may come from upper and lower parts into the stove is prevented. By means of the force of the spring (2) in the system, the knob-boss (3) and the gasket (4) connected to it will always contact the stove surface (5).
  • In the knob structure that is the subject of the invention, the entire system is centred by the help of the knob (1) and the mounting of only the knob (1) to the valve (6) is sufficient. By this way, the mounting of the knob structure on the stove can be done by one single centring. By this way, the knob structure provides advantages in terms of both mountability, aesthetic structure and impermeability.
