Abstract
Description
- The present document relates to a shower partition which can be used for partitioning a shower space from the rest of a room, wherein the room may be a bathroom or a wet room. In particular, the invention relates to a new way of utilizing textile or textile-like materials or other fabric-like materials that may be woven or non-woven, in wet rooms and bathrooms.
- Today there are walls, curtains or other kind of partitions used in bathrooms or wet rooms to separate the bathing or showering areas from the rest of the room in home environment. Also, hotel bathrooms and shower rooms in gyms and public baths use similar solutions.
- Creating a pleasant environment is generally a goal when designing any rooms in an indoor environment. Bathrooms are used daily among all people and are therefore an important part of any indoor environment, although these may often be forgotten when furnishing a house.
- Shower curtains are well known to be used for preventing the water from spreading from the showering area to the rest of the room. As there is a toilet and a sink provided in a traditional bathroom, the room needs to be partitioned so that water is prevented from spreading to other areas than the intended washing area, for which plastic shower curtains alone are not especially effective, as they are more likely to move around during use. Also, the shower curtain may stick to a person's skin while using the shower, which is not pleasant or desirable.
- As another well-known option, there are built in partitions provided to separate the showering area from the rest of a bathroom. The partitions are often made of a transparent glass or plastic material. Some partitions are provided as a combination of a fixed wall and a shower curtain, as seen in
CN202051622U . - Another aspect of providing a shower space in a bathroom is providing additional shelves for shower necessities. Often these shelves are attached to the shower space by means of suction cups being attached on doors or walls. These shelves may also be hanged from the upper side of a shower partition, by attaching a hook on a rail or a bar which may bear a shower curtain, or in some cases, be formed as built-in shelves in the walls.
- When there are no built-in shelves provided in the walls, an alternative is to use shelves provided with highly visible fastening means on the shower door or a wall. That solution is not always particularly neat and durable.
- In a traditional bathroom with a shower there may of course be a simple solution provided in form of a plastic shower curtain, in case there is a need for providing more privacy in the shower.
- Presently, there is usually echoing experienced in most of the bathrooms, as sound absorption is generally poor in bathrooms. This could be caused due to a lack of sound absorbing materials as these are generally moderately used in bathrooms. It is possible, that besides from a small rug, there are not many other sound absorbing materials comprised in a bathroom area.
- There is a need for providing a partitioning of the shower space from the rest of the bathroom enhancing the interior of the bathroom. There is also a need to provide optional display or coverage of the shower space, and to provide aesthetically appealing, convenient and easily accessible storage for shower necessities.
- Lastly, there is a need for a solution which enhances the bathroom interior experience for the user and at the same time, enables more sound absorption.
- It is an object of the present disclosure, to provide a shower partition having means for storing and optionally displaying shower necessities. It is also an object for the present invention to provide additional sound absorption means for bathrooms. According to a first aspect of the invention, there is provided a shower partition comprising a rectangular sheet having an inner surface facing a shower space when in use, and an outer surface. The shower partition is characterized by that said sheet is provided with at least one arrangement for fastening a textile or textile-like material on the outer side.
- An advantage of providing a shower partition comprising a rectangular sheet is that the rectangular sheet may prevent water from exiting the shower space.
- By providing the sheet with an arrangement for fastening a textile or textile-like material on the outer surface, a textile or textile-like material may be attached on the outer surface of the sheet.
- In another embodiment, there is provided a shower partition wherein the shower partition may be made from an at least partially transparent material.
- By at least partially transparent material, it is meant that the whole sheet may be made of one material, wherein the material is at least partially transparent.
- By at least partially transparent material, it could also be meant that the sheet is made from at least two different materials, wherein the different materials are used in different sections of the sheet, wherein at least one of the materials is at least partially transparent.
- As an example, the sheet as seen in use, may have an upper half and a lower half, wherein the upper and the lower halves are made from different materials.
- In another embodiment, there is provided a shower partition wherein said sheet may be made from a transparent material and the transparent material is any one of glass, plexiglass, or polymer material.
- By providing a shower partition wherein the sheet is made from a transparent material, the user may see through the shower partition. Thereby, objects in the shower space may be seen from an outside of the shower space.
- In one embodiment, there is a shower partition provided wherein said arrangement for fastening the textile or textile-like material may be arranged at a top portion of said pane or a bottom portion of said pane or at a combination of a top and bottom portion.
- An advantage of providing an arrangement for fastening the textile or textile-like material is arranged at a top portion of said pane or a bottom portion of said pane or at a combination of a top and bottom portion, is that the textile or textile-like material may be attached in a more secure way.
- In one embodiment, there is a shower partition provided wherein said shower partition may be arranged to be fixedly or removably arranged in a shower space (i.e. a wall).
- By fixedly arranging the shower partition in a shower space, the partition may provided as a wall.
- By removably arranging the shower partition in a shower space, the partition may provided rearrangeably.
- In one embodiment, there is a shower partition provided wherein said shower partition may be arranged to be revolvingly connected in a shower space (i.e. a door).
- By revolvingly connecting the shower partition in a shower space, it is meant that the shower partition may be hingedly connected to the shower space. More specifically, the shower partition may be at one lateral side, hingedly connected to a wall in the shower space. Moreover, it could be meant that the shower partition may be formed as a door.
- An advantage of providing a shower partition that is revolvingly connected in a shower space is that the shower space can be easily accessed by the user.
- Accordiong to an embodiment, there is provided a shower partition which may comprise textile material.
- An effect of providing a textile or textile-like material is that the shower partition may be optionally concealed by the textile or textile-like material.
- The textile or textile-like material may be any kind of fabric, for example a woven or non-woven fabric. The textile or textile-like material may be made of one of: animal based, plant based, mineral based or syntetic fibers, or a combination thereof.
- As an advantage, textile or textile-like materials that are traditionally not used in a bathroom environment, may be used.
- By providing a textile or textile-like material made of said textile fibers, which may usually not be used in a bathroom, an advatageous effect of providing a luxury experience for the user may be provided.
- An advantage of providing a textile or textile-like material on the outer surface of the sheet is that the textile is prevented from wetting.
- Another advantage of providing a textile or textile-like material on the outer surface of the sheet is that the textile may provide sound absorbing properties.
- The textile or textile-like material provided on the outer surface of the shower partition may be sized and adapted to cover at least a part of the outer surface of the sheet.
- The textile or textile-like material provided on the outer surface of the shower partition may be sized and adapted to cover the whole outer surface of the sheet. By covering the whole outer surface of the sheet, it is meant that the area of the outer surface of the sheet is fully covered.
- For example, the outer surface of the sheet may have a minimal size of 2m^2. Thereby, there may be provided a textile or textile-like material which has at least the same area. By for example pleating or folding the material, when attaching it to the arrangement for attaching a textile or textile-like material, an even larger sized textile or textile-like material may be provided at the shower partition than the sheet.
- As bathrooms in general do not comprise many sound absorbing materials, by providing a textile or textile-like material at a shower partition may have an advantage of significantly improving the acoustics in a bathroom environment.
- By pleating the textile or textile-like material, more sound may be absorbed than when there is only a textile or textile-like material provided which hangs flat.
- As yet another advantage of providing a textile or textile-like material, said textile or textile-like material may be used for displaying information. For example, it may be provided with a logotype or the like, when used in a public bathroom or hotel bathroom environment.
- Accordiong to another embodiment, there is provided a shower partition comprising a textile material, wherein said textile or textile-like material may be attached to the partition through the arrangement for fastening said textile or textile-like material.
- An advantage of attaching said textile or textile-like material through fastening to the arrangement for fastening said textile or textile-like material is, that the textile or textile-like material may be conveniently and securely attached to the shower partition. By conveniently and securely attached it is meant that the shower partition may be attached in a way so that the attachment may withstand handling and wear. It can also be meant that the textile or textile-like material may be easily attached to the shower partition by the user.
- There is a shower partition provided, wherein said textile or textile-like material may be arranged to be movable between an open and a closed state.
- By an opened state it is meant that the textile or textile-like material is not fully covering the outer surface of the sheet. By providing an opened state, in an embodiment wherein the sheet is made from an at least partially transparent material it is possible to see at least through a part of the sheet.
- By a closed state it is meant that the textile or textile-like material is substantially fully covering the outer surface of the sheet. By providing a closed state, in an embodiment wherein the sheet is made from an at least partially transparent material it is possible to fully prevent seeing through the sheet.
- An advantage of providing a textile or textile-like material which is arranged to be movable between an open and a closed state is that covering the shower partition with textile or textile-like material in part or fully is optional.
- In one embodiment, there is a shower partition provided wherein said textie may be removably or fixedly connected to said arrangement for fastening the textile or textile-like material.
- By removably connected it is meant that the textile or textile-like material may be attached and detached from said arrangement for fastening a textile arrangement.
- Another advantage of providing an arrangement for fastening a textile or textile-like material that is removably attached is that when attaching a textile or textile-like material to said arrangement, the textile or textile-like material may be replaced. By replacing the textile or textile-like material, it is meant that the textile or textile-like material may be removed easily, and another textile or textile-like material may be attached to said arrangement.
- The textile or textile-like material may for example be formed as a curtain or a drape, a blind or a pulldown of a textile or textile-like material.
- The arrangement for fastening a textile or textile-like material may comprise a rail. The arrangement may also comprise a set of hooks and/or loops arranged fixedly attached or removably attached for fastening the textile or textile-like material. The textile or textile-like material may comprise corresponding holes or loops as additional fastening means to become attached to the arrangement for fastening.
- An advantage of providing a rail with movably attached hooks or loops is that a textile or textile-like material may be movably attached to the partition or sheet.
- By movably attached it is meant that the textile or textile-like material may laterally or horizontally move on the outer surface of the sheet.
- Alternatively or additionally, the arrangement for fastening a textile or textile-like material may comprise a rod. As an advantage, lateral mobility along said rod or wire may be provided when movably attaching said textile or textile-like material to said rod or wire.
- There is provided a shower partition, that may further comprise at least one shelf on the inner surface.
- An advantage of providing a shelf on the inner surface is that shower necessities may be stored conveniently. By conveniently it is meant that the necessities may be easily accessed during showering.
- As another advantage, in an embodiment wherein the shower partition comprises a shelf and wherein the shelf may also be used for displaying the shower necessities through the at least partially transparent sheet.
- In an embodiment wherein the sheet is made of an at least partially transparent material, further comprising a shelf on the inner surface and wherein there is a textile or textile-like material provided on an outer surface of the sheet, the shower necessities may be optionally displayed when seen from the outside surface side of the shower partition.
- In one embodiment, there is provided a shower partition comprising a shelf which is fixedly or removably attached to the inner surface of the partition.
- An advantage of providing a shelf which is fixedly attached to the inner surface of the partition is that the attachment of the shelf is strong and can withhold more strain than when it is not fixedly attached.
- By removably attached it is meant the shelf may be removed and reattached when desired.
- An advantage of the shelf being removably attached is that the sheet may be cleaned more easily when the shelf is temporarily removed.
- Another advantage is that the shelf may be optionally attached to the sheet. Another advantage is that the shelf may be easily installed to the partition.
- In another embodiment, there is provided a shower partition wherein the shelf is arranged to be integrated with said sheet.
- The shelf may be removably attached to the sheet by a click-in arrangement. Thereby, a simple installation for the user may be provided. As an example, the sheet may comprise at least a through hole and the shelf may also comprise at least a corresponding through hole for attaching at least one plug or other fastening means through the at least one through hole. Said attachment may be fixed or removable. It is understood, that other known fastening arrangements may also be used.
- As an example, the shelf may also be attached to the sheet by gluing.
- An advantage of integrating the shelf with said sheet is that the shelf may withstand a greater amount of load than if the shelf was fastened through different fastening means.
- According to a second aspect of the invention, there is provided a system for a shower space wherein the system comprises a shower partition as described above, a textile or textile-like material adapted to being attached to an arrangement for fastening a textile or textile-like material and a shelf arranged on the inner surface of the sheet.
- By providing a system for a shower space with above characteristics, there is provided a complete solution for partitioning the shower area from the rest of the bathroom.
- An advantage of providing a system as described above, the interior of a bathroom having means for enhanced sound absorption may be achieved.
- Another advantage is that shower necessities may be stored easily accessible on said shelf provided in the system. At the same time, the shower necessities may be displayed through the at least partially transparent sheet of the shower partition. Also, the shower space may be optionally covered by said textile or textile-like material.
- According to a third aspect of the invention, there is provided a use of the shower partition or the system as described above.
- By providing a textile or textile-like material in a bathroom, especially in conjunction with a shower space, a novel experience may be provided for a bathroom user.
- Embodiments of the present solution will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying schematic drawings in which:

Fig 1 schematically illustrates a perspective view of an embodiment of ashower partition 1 and asystem 2 comprising a shower partition. -
Fig 2 schematically illustrates a perspective view of an embodiment of ashower partition 1, wherein thesheet 10 is being assembled with asupport frame 24 attached to ashower space 3. -
Figs 3a and 3b schematically illustrate a cross sectional view of an embodiment for anupper frame arrangement 22 for ashower partition 1. -
Fig 4 schematically illustrates a perspective cross sectional view of asheet 10. -
Figs 5a- 5c schematically illustrate an embodiment of ashelf 40 being attached to thesheet 10. -
Fig 1 schematically illustrates a perspective view of an embodiment of ashower partition 1 and asystem 2 comprising a shower partition in ashower space 3. - The
shower partition 1 comprises a substantiallytransparent sheet 10, which is mounted vertically extending in its longitudinal direction, to afloor surface 31, along aside wall 32 in a corner, and to anupper frame arrangement 22, wherein theupper frame arrangement 22 extends outwards from theside wall 32 being supported by a support beam extending out from theother side wall 33 on the opposite side from thesheet 10. - In an embodiment not illustrated, the
partition 1 with theupper frame arrangement 22 may extend and be attached to a ceiling of ashower space 3. - The
shower partition 1 comprises anarrangement 20 for fastening a textile or textile-like material 30. Thesheet 10 is provided, as seen in the figure, at one side of the sower partition, partially covering thesheet 10 of theshower partition 1. - The substantially
transparent sheet 10 may further comprise ashelf 40 which is provided at or on the inner side of theshower partition 1. Theshelf 40 provided with fastening means further described and shown inFigs 5a- 5c . -
Fig 2 schematically illustrates a perspective view of an embodiment of ashower partition 1, wherein thesheet 10 is being assembled with asupport frame 24 attached to ashower space 3. - The
sheet 10 having asheet frame 14, is being assembled to asupport frame 24. Thesheet 10 may, according to an embodiment have a substantially rectangular area at theouter surface 12 and theinner surface 11, and a thickness which may be between 0,2- 5 cm. Thesheet 10 may for example be made of a plastic or a glass material, allowing at least some transparency. Thesupport frame 24 according to an embodiment as seen infig 2 , extends over a part of thefloor surface 31 perpendicularly from theside wall 32, and upwards along aside wall 32. In another embodiment, thesupport frame 24 may of course extend over the hole length of thefloor surface 31 to an opposite wall (not illustrated). - The
sheet 10 may be fixedly arranged to thesupport frame 24 and thereby to theshower space 3. In another embodiment which is not illustrated, wherein thesheet 10 is hingedly attached to theside wall 32 and arranged as a door, thesupport frame 24 may not be needed. - In the embodiment seen in
fig 2 , there is also anupper frame arrangement 22 provided, comprising anarrangement 20 for fastening a textile or textile-like material. -
Fig 3a schematically illustrates a cross sectional side view of an embodiment for anupper frame arrangement 22 for ashower partition 1 before assembling with asheet frame 14. - The view, as seen across a longitudinal direction of the
upper frame arrangement 22, showsupper frame arrangement 22 comprising sheet fastening means 21 and anarrangement 20 for fastening textile or textile-like material. - As further seen in
fig 3a , the sheet fastening means 21 are formed as rails having ends 211 which are outwardly bent, being adapted for outwardly receiving asheet frame 14, which has inwardly protrudingprofile parts 141 on each side. - In one embodiment, an
arrangement 20 for fastening textile or textile-like material there may be provided as a rail for enabling the textile or textile-like material being movably arranged. Said rail may be complemented with hooks or loops (not illustrated) which are movably attached to said rail, and which are attachable to said textile or textilelike material. - The
arrangement 20 for fastening a textile or textile-like material may also comprise a wire or a rod (not illustrated), wherein the textile or textile-like material 30 may comprise means for being movably attached with said wire or rod. Means for being movably attached with said wire or rod may comprise hooks or loops attached to the textile or textile-like material, or holes provided in the textile or textile-like material. - The
sheet frame 14 also comprises an inwardly protrudingsheet receiving space 15, comprising means for attachment with thesheet 10. -
Fig 3b schematically illustrates a cross sectional view of an embodiment for anupper frame arrangement 22 for ashower partition 1 in an assembly with asheet frame 14. - As seen in the same figure, the sheet fastening means 21 are formed as rails having ends which are outwardly bent, and outwardly receiving a
sheet frame 14, which has inwardly protrudingprofile parts 141 on each side. As a result, a form fitting secure attachment is achieved between thesheet 10 and theupper frame arrangement 22. The sheet fastening means 21 are thereby adapted to fixedly connect with asheet frame 14. -
Fig 4 schematically illustrates a perspective cross sectional view of asheet 10, being assembled with asheet frame 14. Thesheet 10 is received in thesheet receiving space 15. -
Fig 5a schematically illustrates a perspective view of theshelf 40 being attached to the substantiallytransparent sheet 10 from anouter surface 12 side. Theshelf 40 as seen according to the provided embodiment is provided with fastening means 41a, 41b at two locations of theshelf 40, extending through said substantiallytransparent sheet 10 from theinner surface 11, as seen infig 5b , towards theouter surface 12, as seen infig 5a . - Said
shelf 40 may be provided with fastening means at a sheet faced side of said shelf for fixed or removable attachment. At the same time, thesheet 10 may be adapted for receiving saidshelf 40 for removable or fixed attachment. Therefore, the sheet may comprise corresponding fastening or receiving means attached to or integrated into the sheet. These means may be cavities, through-holes, fixating means like screws and nuts and the like. - The
shelf 40 may in an embodiment be attached to thesheet 10 by a simple click-in arrangement. -
Fig 5b schematically illustrates a perspective view of theshelf 40 being attached to thesheet 10 from aninner surface 11 side. Theshelf 40 abuts theinner surface 11 of thesheet 10, when assembled by means of fastening means 41a, which prevent theshelf 40 from moving in relation to thesheet 10 in all directions, by clamping thesheet 10 and theshelf 40 together. - In the same figure,
fig 5b , there is a storingsurface 42 and a throughhole 43 formed in the longitudinal direction of theshelf 40. The hole may be provided for water draining purposes. In another embodiment, the hole may be formed as differently shaped or as several separate holes. -
Fig 5c schematically illustrates a cross sectional side view of theshelf 40 being attached to thesheet 10. In the embodiment seen in the figure, there are distancingparts shelf 40 and thesheet 10. In a different embodiment, the distancingparts shelf 40 may be attached to thesheet 10 by directly abutting thesheet 10.
Claims (16)
- A shower partition (1) comprising a rectangular sheet (10) having an inner surface (11) facing, when in use, a shower space (3) and an outer surface (12),
characterized in that the sheet (10) is provided with, on the outer surface (12) at least one arrangement (20) for fastening a textile or textile-like material (30). - The shower partition (1) according to claim 1, wherein
said sheet (10) is made from an at least partially transparent material. - The shower partition (1) according to any one of claims 1 or 2, wherein said transparent material is any one of glass, plexiglass, or polymer material.
- The shower partition (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said arrangement (20) for fastening the textile or textile-like material is arranged at a top portion of said sheet (10) or a bottom portion of said sheet (10) or at a combination of a top and bottom portion.
- The shower partition (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said shower partition is arranged to be fixedly or removably arranged in a shower space (3).
- The shower partition (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said partition is arranged to be revolvingly connected in a shower space (3).
- The shower partition (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said partition (10) further comprises a textile or textile-like material (30).
- The shower partition (1) according to claim 7, wherein said textile or textile-like material (30) is attached to the partition through the arrangement (20) for fastening said textile or textile-like material.
- The shower partition (1) according to any one of claims 7 or 8, wherein said textile or textile-like material (30) is arranged to be moveable between an open and a closed state.
- The shower partition (1) according to any one of claims 7-9, wherein said textile material (30) is removably or fixedly connected to said arrangement (20) for fastening the textile or textile-like material.
- The shower partition (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, further comprising on the inner surface (11), at least one shelf (40).
- The shower partition (1) according to claim 11, wherein said at least one shelf (40) is fixedly or removably attached to the inner surface (11) of the partition.
- The shower partition according to claim 11, wherein said shelf (40) is arranged to be integrated with said sheet (10).
- A system (2) for a shower space (3), wherein the system comprises:a shower partition (1) according to any one of the preceding claims 1-6,a textile or textile-like material (30) adapted to being attached to an arrangement (20) for fastening a textile or textile-like material.
- The system as claimed in claim 14, further comprising
a shelf (40) arranged on the inner surface (11) of the sheet (10). - Use of the shower partition (1) according to any one of claims 1-13 or the system (2) according to claims 14-15 in an bathroom or showerroom.
