Description

A COOLING APPLIANCE HAVING A CONTAINER
The present invention relates to a cooling appliance, in particular to a cooling appliance having a container wherein the container is configured to be pushed out of the cooling appliance upon opening the door.
The cooling appliances are provided with containers or drawers suitable to be drawn out the body when the door of the cooling appliances is opened. Stationary containers are widely known in the state of the art. Such containers are drawn out manually after the door is opened. Likewise, before the door is closed, the user manually pushes the container towards the inside of the body of the cooling appliance. A problem with the conventional cooling appliances is that the user may already be carrying bags and packages which makes it relatively hard for the user to draw out the container while carrying the said bags or packages. Another problem that is commonly faced by many users is that the users forget the container drawn out and closes the door while the container is drawn out. Although the containers are robust, the tips or the panels of the containers chip after several impacts from the door.
A prior art publication in the technical field of the present invention may be referred to as US 2016209107 A 1 among others, the document disclosing a cooling appliance having a drawer that is automatically drawn out of the body as the users pulls the door open.
A prior art publication in the technical field of the present invention may be referred to as US2016178274A1 among others, the document disclosing a cooling appliance having a drawer that is automatically drawn out of the body as the users pulls the door open.
An objective of the present invention is to provide a cooling appliance having a container wherein the container is configured to slide out of the body as the user opens the door and slide inside the body as the user closes the door.
The method realized to achieve the aim of the present invention and disclosed in the first claim and the dependent claims comprises a cooling appliance having a body. The inner surface of the body is at least partly covered by an inner liner. A door is attached onto the body. The door may be attached onto the body via a hinge. It also possible that the door may be a push in pull out drawer type. The door has an open position allowing access inside the body and a closed position blocking access inside the body. A container is placed inside the body in a slidable manner. The sliding mechanism of the container can be provided with respective rails, but any other means known to the person skilled in the art can be utilized. As the position of the door changes from closed to the open, the container is automatically driven out of the body providing access inside the container. Similarly, as the position of the door changes from open to the closed, the container is automatically driven inside the body. A first actuator is placed on a rear wall of the container. A second actuator is placed onto the inner liner wherein the first actuator and the second actuator face each other in the closed position of the door. In the closed position of the door the rear wall of the container is in close vicinity of the inner liner and therefore the second actuator is in close vicinity of the first actuator. As the door is opened, the control unit detects that the door is being opened and activates the second actuator. The second actuator upon being activated interacts with the first actuator and forces the first actuator along with the container to move out of the body. On the contrary, as the door is closed, the control unit detects that the door is being closed and activates the second actuator. This time, the second actuator upon being activated interacts with the first actuator and forces the first actuator along with the container to move inside the body. The control unit detects the current position and movement of the door via a pair of sensors provided. The sensors are provided on the door and the body. By means of this invention, the door upon being opened, the container is forced to move out of the body automatically, eliminating the need to pull out the container manually. This is especially advantageous for the users when their hands are full. Another advantageous effect provided by means of the control unit and said actuators is that the container is automatically drawn inside the body, eliminating the possibility of the container remaining drawn out as the user closes door. This may be physically damaging for the container and the door.
In an embodiment of the invention, the first actuator is a magnet and the second actuator is an electro magnet. Electro magnets are magnets that run on electricity and depending on the amount and direction of current flowing through it, their strength and polarization changes. Upon activation of the second actuator, the second actuator pushes or pulls the first actuator. As the door is opened, the second actuator pushes the first actuator and as the door is closed, the second actuator pulls the first actuator. In an embodiment of the invention, the control unit is configured to change the polarization of the second actuator. By this means, a single second actuator is sufficient to move the container inside and outside the body.
In an embodiment of the invention, a weight sensor is provided to measure the weight of the container. By means of the weight sensor, the control unit calculates the amount of electricity required to push or pull the container. By this means, energy saving is achieved.
In an embodiment of the invention, an override mechanism is provided to activate and deactivate the second actuator. By the means of the override mechanism, the users are provided with the option of to disable the second actuator. The override mechanism can be provided on a handle of the cooling appliance and the user may use the override mechanism
In the cooling appliance of the present invention, ease of use is provided for the users. Another advantageous effect provided is that the drawn-out containers do not get damaged as the user closes door while the containers are drawn out.
The drawings are not meant to delimit the scope of protection as identified in the claims nor should they be referred to alone in an effort to interpret the scope identified in the claims without recourse to the technical disclosure in the description of the present invention.

The present invention relates to a cooling appliance (1) comprising a body (2) having an inner liner (3), a door (4) attached to the body (2) between a closed and an open position, a container (5) that is adjusted to at least partly slide out of the body (2) upon changing the position of the door (4) from closed to the open and slide inside the body (2) upon changing the position of the door (4) from open to closed.
The present invention relates to the cooling appliance (1) further comprising a first actuator (6) placed onto a rear wall of the container (5) and a second actuator (7) placed onto the inner liner (3) that is configured to be in close vicinity of the first actuator (6) in the closed position of the door (4), a control unit (8) configured to activate said actuators (6,7) to force the container (5) slide out of the body (2) or slide inside the body (2) depending on the position of the door (4). The container (5) is configured to slide inside and outside the body (2) via a pair of rails provided on the side walls of the container (5) or on the inner liner (3). As the door (4) is opened, the container (5) slides outside the body (2) via the first actuator (6) and the second actuator (7). The control unit (8) activates the second actuator (7) and the second actuator (7) forces the first actuator (6) to move away from itself. As the door (3) is closed, the control unit (8) activates the second actuator (7) to pull the first actuator (6) toward itself. The control unit (8) detects the position and the angle between the body (2) and the door (3) via a pair of sensors provided respectively on the door (3) and the body (2). The type of said sensors may include but not limited to magnetic switchs or optical sensors. The control unit (8) activates the second actuator (7) to push the first actuator (6) and consequently the container (5) out of the body depending on the angle between the door (3) and the body (2). The angle may be 15 degrees, 20 degrees or any other degree that is seen as suitable by the manufacturer. Likewise, after the user accessed inside the body (2), the user closes the door (3). This time the control unit (8) activates the second actuator (7) to pull the first actuator (6) and consequently the container (5) inside the body depending on the angle between the door (3) and the body (2). The angle, in this case, may be 75 degrees, 70 degrees or any degree that is seen as suitable by the manufacturer. In other words, the angle for activating the second actuator (7) is an angle predetermined by the manufacturer. By means of the first actuator (6) and the second actuator (7) and the control unit (8) controlling said actuators (6,7), the container (5) is automatically driven out of the body (2) or inside the body (2) as the door (3) is opened and closed respectively by the user. This provides ease of use for the users as they no longer need to manually pull container (5) outside the body (2). This is especially advantageous for the user, should their hands be full. Similarly, closing the door (3) of cooling appliances (1) while the containers (5) are partly drawn out of the body (2) may cause the containers (5) to get damaged. By means of this invention, the container (5) is automatically drawn inside the body (2), protecting the container (5) from getting damaged.
In an embodiment, the first actuator (6) is a magnet and that the second actuator (7) is an electromagnet. The electromagnets are magnets that runs on electricity. Unlike a permanent magnet, the strength of an electromagnet can easily be changed by changing the amount of electric current that flows through it. The poles of an electromagnet can even be reversed by reversing the flow of electricity. By using electromagnet as the second actuator (7), the movement of the container (5) is easily controlled.
In an embodiment, the control unit (8) changes the polarization of the second actuator (7), and that the second actuator (7) depending on the polarization pushes or pulls the first actuator (6). The control unit (8) reverses the polarity of the second actuator (7) which is an electromagnet. By this means, the container (5) is pulled inside as the door (3) is being closed and is pushed out as the door (3) is being opened.
In an embodiment, the cooling appliance (1) comprises a weight sensor (9) to measure the weight of the container (5) and that the control unit (8) according to the data provided by the weight sensor (9) energizes the second actuator (7) by a predetermined amount. By means of the weight sensor (9), the weight of the container (5) along with the products stored inside the container (5) is calculated. According to the weight, the control unit (8) energizes the second actuator (7) by a predetermined amount. By this means, the container (5) is forced to slide out of or inside the body (2) with a predetermined force helping to control the acceleration of the container (5) meanwhile saving energy.
In an embodiment, the cooling appliance (1) comprises an override mechanism (10) configured to activate or deactivate the second actuator (7). The cooling appliance (1) comprises the override mechanism (10) that activates or deactivates the second actuator (7). By this means, the users are provided with the option of disabling the push out pull in mechanism of the container (5). The override mechanism (10) can be placed onto a handle or any exterior surface of the cooling appliance (1). In the cooling appliance (1) of the present invention, the cooling appliance (1) is provided with the first actuator (6) and the second actuator (7) that operate with the control unit (8) to automatically move the container (5) inside and outside the body (2) depending on the position of the door (4), providing ease of use for the user. Another advantageous effect provided with the said mechanism is that the accidental breaking of the pulled-out container (5) during closing the door (4) is prevented.
